Final Fantasy X Remaster - Superboss: Penance + Platinum
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 сер 2024
- Don't mind the showing off everything, this is my last time I enjoy FFX. You do not need to have Break HP Limit for Penance. You do however, need to prepare! Auto-Haste, Auto-Potion, Auto-Protect, Defense +20%. Or Break HP Limit, Auto-Haste, Auto-Protect, Auto-Regen. Don't mess up, don't need Ribbon, an arm is killed in six hits. Have Rikku to mix: Eccentrick, Super Elixir, Ultra NulAll (adds all stat boosts). Remember to use Three Stars and Purifying Salt, and Dispel every time from Immolation. It's a lot faster if you switch Rikku and Auron around occasionally, only need her for healing, while Auron counters back.
Optional Superboss: Penance (Overkill)
HP: 12,000,000 (99,999)
AP: 60,000 (65,000)
Left & Right Arms (Overkill)
HP: 500,000 (99,999)
AP: 10,000 (12,000)
Drop: Dark Matter (x2) & Master Sphere (x2)
Weapon & Armor Drop: Break Damage Limit & Ribbon - Ігри
Me first time fighting this: "I'm maxed so this shouldn't take long."
Me 40 mins later: "WHY WON'T YOU DIE!!??"
"NanoYevons, son. It heal in response to limit breaker trauma."
NANOMACHINES, SON!
Have you heard of the high elves?
@@cristianostoch7375 cant escape this meme anywhere i go
So do you kinda do the same thing/rotation for 40 minutes? Like hp sponge.
Young me had so much patience for fights such as these... Because older me, even watching this is saying "HOLY SHIT JUST WIN ALREADY"
I swear this is like watching someone do calculus its insane
There's something funny about Wakka getting shot by a death beam, survives, and whips his blitz ball back at the attacker (which makes a satisfying "thump" when it connects).
Penance attack: laser beam potentially disintegrating a person.
Wakka attack: Throws a ball at someone
Or when Tidus and Wakka are both down and when Yuna summons they both get up and move out of the way lol
Seeing people do these side quests, and fight superbosses like this really drives home how shitty I am at this game. Anyways good job 👍
** Watch an epic 40 minutes battle with the hardest boss in the game **
Someone: "So, did it end with an awesome power move? An epic animation that took CGI to new realms of awesomeness!?"
Me: "Nope. One of them threw a ball at it, and it died"
Someone: "Say whaa..?"
Me: "Waka godkiller is the most epic thing bro"
I like to imagine that Penance was once Yu Yevon's Aeon way before Sin.
sin's not an aeon. just an armour.
+Knights Of Pluto Technically, Sin is an aeon. Yu Yevon possesses an aeon and turns it into Sin.
I'm curious, does Auron know anything about penance?
Sean W He probably knows
A little insight would be nice, Auron... Lol
I'm to weak to fight this one but everything can resolve by power of money.
Come!!! Yojimbo!!!
Purify your soul and get ready to
*Z A N M A T O*
your enemies.
No matter if it's a Besaid Dingo or Penance, all fall against the most powerful technique. Praise be to Yojimbo.
Praise Yojimbo!
The power of capitalism at it's best XD
Zanmatoing Penance is almost criminal.
You don't deserve the trophy for killing Penance if you use Zanmato
That grid is insane! I went with not breaking the hp limit. Now that I have a decent amount of armor with it after stat maxing and a bit of yojimbo farming, I was curious to see what that would look like. No way that’s possible for me now. It is, but it would take forever. Nice to be able to see how this fight goes with max hp.
I don't get the five digit damage in this game. Sometimes 9999 is till the cap, in this case it isn't.
@@SylkaChan they are broken through different limit break options on armor and weapons.
You can break the damage limit through most characters celestial weapon. Some like Lulu will have break MP limit as well, which will let mana go to 9,999.
HP limit can be farmed and put on armor as well.
However all of these can be farmed and put onto other gear via the gear customizer in game
@@Kspice9000 Lulu's doesn't have Break MP limit.
It's too hard to full all the grids. How many nights did he this? This is truly insane 😮
I like how its 1st phase armor has the Tree of Life engraved on it. I'm not sure what's more ridiculous though, the giant 'T' with floating arms or the multicolored jawbreaker from the previous game...
ah you mean the flying uterus with arms?
to be fair, that jawbreaker is an eidolon that had ties to the Terra crystal. Once terra got messed up, its form got distorted, resulting in looking like a jawbreaker. But Penance here almost got zero lore behind it. Some say this was the weapon that Bevel had to fight against Sin. Some say it was sent by Yevon as a last ditch effort to stop Yuna and co. from breaking the cycle.
@@JBranderwhere did you read that about Ozma? I am curious! Also hey, if you want floating bosses with no lore, there’s always Necron
@@ObeseChess The spot where you initiate the fight with Ozma is labeled as an "Eidolon cave" and the moogle at the garden says that it (ozma) doesn't belong in this world (Gaia) meaning it's implied that Ozma is an eidolon from Terra. Eidolons in FF9 are tied to the planet's crystal. Knowing what happened to Terra, you just put it all together and you'll get an idea of Ozma's backstory.
I also used to be like you back then and thought that Necron had no lore and just appeared for no reason. But he actually fits the game as the final boss quite well and actually have a good reason for appearing when you regard the theme of the game and what everybody was going through as the story progressed, especially between Zidane and Kuja.
@@JBrander mm, yes and no. I mean, he fits thematically and he's a fun boss, but he DOES have no lore and just kind of shows up. Quoting star wars, no less!
Why didnt they let this thing fight Sin O_O
t0tally n0tZer0 Maybe because it is one of Yu yevons creations. And storywise so is Sin problaby stronger than Penance.
Cause if Sin permanently went away, the church wouldn't be able to continue holding society hostage.
Most likely correct, just chalk it up to game mechanics. But I like to think that it was every ounce of Yu Yevon's power put into Penance as a last resort, and Penance actually is stronger than Sin. Sin only needed to be so strong to fulfill its purpose, as Sin was supposed to be killable anyway and Yu Yevon didn't want to make something that powerful to keep having to destroy it and have it remade again and again. Meanwhile just in case it seemed anyone was powerful enough to beat sin without the final aeon, he had the Dark Aeons and Penance as a last resort to stop them which actually had nearly all of his power. Just some fanfiction that I can't help but think of anytime I play.
Sin would kill it with giga graviton. But penance is part of yevon and is there as a final resort to defeat yuna before she fights sin with the true knowledge of how to defeat it (yu yevon)
question is why they don't use airship shooting it. Lol
Just one move will resolve in the defeat of Penance. Prepare for the top mojo *ZANMOTO*
How much does that one cost
Depending on your relationship with Yojimbo is how often he’ll use Zanmoto. Try using Yojimbo more than the other Aeons and make sure he doesn’t get defeated or it’ll weaken the relationship with Yojimbo. When he’s low, dismiss him. The more you use him the higher the chance of him using Zanmoto. Also don’t be paying him too much because really, paying him a lot don’t really increase the chance of Zanmoto. I paid him 100 Gil and he used Zanmoto but that’s because of the high relationship we have. And to know that your relationship with him is becoming good you’ll notice he’ll attack as soon as he’s summoned without pay. Sometimes he’ll do that twice in one battle, this means there’s a strong chance he’ll use Zanmoto. Now the final notice is upon summoning him in a boss fight he’ll automatically use Zanmoto without pay. To sum it all up, again use him more than the other Aeons and make sure he doesn’t get defeated. I know I said “don’t pay him a lot of Gil” but also don’t pay him very little. Be smart and he’ll come around. I hope this helped a little.
@@PrinceZaos agree
@@PrinceZaos
The best way to know if yojimbo will give you a zanmato is how he reacts after paying him; If you pay close attention and notice he nods his head in agreement, that's basically the sign he's going to use zanmato.
I've never had the patience for all these side quests in FF games but seeing this and that boss fight in ff12, I'm like "Jesus, kudos to whoever is conquering these battles"
I still think this guy is the real Final Aeon
Cheers mate, smashed him to pieces last week on the ps4 remastered. It it never gave me the trophy :( il do it again when iv got a spare hour!!
Anyone else notice that the Hymn is in the song? I've never actually listened to the music in these boss fights before.
Oh yeah I hear it now too, you actually meant the Hymn's melody not the chant but yeah it is :)
Seffyroth HD Not just that, but also the Boss Theme "Enemy Attack".
Probably to show a connection to yu yevon
I hear a mix of Song Of Prayer and Enemy Attack.
Have none of the FFX team done any interviews in all these years? No one ever asked them what the story on Penance is?
Not 100% on if this is correct, but I've heard Penance is the Final Aeon of High Summoner Gandof, who was the one to leave the crater in the the Calm Lands during his battle with Sin. This makes sense since Penance emerges from the same crater. As for why it's so strong, it's inferred that Gandof is the strongest summoner that has been.
@@richardsinclair7661 Any source for this or just a fan theory?
@@MarionRelics Unfortunately, this is just a string of conclusions inferred from the game; it's just a theory. Though, given the circumstantial evidence from the game, it seems somewhat likely.
I have even tried looking through the Final Fantasy X Ultimania Omega/International Omega (the former is a kind of guidebook for the original game, and the latter one for the international version that the HD remasters would be based off of) for any information about Penance and I didn't find anything.
Common sense says that if anything interesting were uncovered about Penance in either of the books, it would've made its way to the internet already since they're 20 years old.
@@richardsinclair7661 Yeah it seems like there’s nothing out there. That’s why I asked about interviews, because I go to a lot of book and comic cons and they always have artists on panels getting asked all these plot questions and I wonder why that never happens for game developers to solve these old mysteries.
Something tells me Penance is not for Speed Runners. Any ill-preparation for this fight whatsoever will result in your death, be it quick or slow. Fighting him with anything less than your strongest with maxed out stats is suicide.
You would be right. The boss isn't hard, but you literally need the stats of a god to fight him, AND you must keep the arms in check at all times.
I don't think anyone has ever done a speedrun to beat Penance, but I do know there is actually a Nemesis% seedrun category on speedrun.com. The rules are to defeat Nemesis as fast as possible from starting a new game. The world record is about 20 hours LUL!
In the remaster you can speed up the game x4 and it really doesn't take that many hours to max out stats (even HP) if you know what you are doing in the arena and have a plan for your grid. It used to be a lot more tedious on the PS2.
@@din6675 you can't do x4 speed in the remaster, at least not on consoles.
@Gaea11 Without Zanmato, the shortest Battle I've seen against Penance was 30m.
Imagine the difficulty if square added the airship's ability to go near and far from the enemy....
There really should have been a mechanic where Penance was charging an attack and the only way to interrupt it was to have Cid fire rockets.
I want to see someone trying Penance and dark aeons with extra challenge, give them haste and see how it goes
or u are not allowed to use auto-haste
Penance is ridiculously hard and its design just looks insane.
Should have buffed Hot Spurs for Faster Overdrive Recharge, They stack with Eccentrick.
Now if only this thing was the final boss instead of the disappointment that was Yu Yevon himself.
Jecht is the final boss. After that is basically just a cutscene.
Phoenix down....
You can cheese Yu Yevon at the end by just not leveling your Aeons throughout the game. Their power reflects the progress or lack thereof you've made with them.
Yu Yevon is not the final boss. His Final Aeon is the final boss, which narratively makes sense, since Sin is supposed to be Yu Yevon's armor. Yu Yevon himself is just a husk without any sense of self, only existing to continue summoning Dream Zanarkand and refabricate Sin.
That would have been too difficult and time consuming for most players. Those superbosses are rightly extra contents
what is that airship made of? cant be destroyed i guess, LOL
Arvin D the strongest material of all. Anime main protagonist plot armour
Damascus steel
Yevon: Yeah, sin is a problem and we’ve got this Penance thing which isn’t an aeon and we know Yu-Yevon and sins secret. But uhhh we’re gonna use it to fight this random group of people instead of destroying sin 😎

First time i've played this game was probably around 2005 when I was a teen, I played it again in 2k14 during my last univ year for some reason that i don't recall but i've never ever heard of this boss' existence until about 2k15 or 2k16 by chance on youtube, I was stunned lol
depends on what region you where from. if you'rte from america/japn, chances are the reason you never heard of this boss was cuz he wasn;'t in it. oddly the aussie/european pal regions got extra bosses. which i enjoyed, cuz australian ^W^

you’ll never guess what he’s gonna do next...
*quick hit*
oh okay... cool.. that was exciting.
Amber Gentry same. Yawn.
This is my issue with ffx
The battle took 45 minutes with quick hits why would you want to make it even longer
@@farms6 you wouldn't. the point it is that it's a really repetitive and needlessly long fight
And that boss only appears when you defeat all of the Dark Aeons?
+Agato Wesker - The Black Fox yes
***** Good thing they reward well worth the trouble.
Yep and I still have problems dealing last dark aeons Dark Yojimbo
@@PlaystationGamerZX Basically with Dark Yojimbo, if you see him about to use Zanmato, you MUST summon an aeon to block the attack or you get a Game Over regardless of your HP or buffs (Zanmato from D. Yojimbo removes buffs and does lethal damage to the entire group). The goal is to try and kill him before he does that, but in case you can't, you must be ready to block Zanmato with an aeon.
@@cameraredeye3115
That what I did and then he stole my turn and use sword slash....
No one is mentioning this, but at 5:18, you're lucky that the Left Arm did Slowga instead of Tera Graviton. A normal attack isn't as bad. Though it dispels everything & Auto Life, you still have Auto Haste, Regen, & Protect on you.
Never did understand what exactly this thing was. Is it an aeon from one of the high Summoners, or is it a really powerful unsent?
Some theories say it is a penance for Yuna and copmany refusing the religion Yevon but who knows.
@@domagojkersun9630 No, its the "final aeon" who yunaleska gives you to fight sin..however..yunaleska is bad and let you become sin..and because of this so powerfull aeon..u get your life lost :3 so a friend becomes sin and u die because of penance or "verdugo final"
From what I read it was one last ditch effort of the Yevon religion to take out Yuna and her guardians for knowing the truth. Penance means repentance for one's sins. Its also the epitome of Yevon's hypocrisy, a machina weapon. A weapon from the machina war that the religion kept locked away, only activated when all else fails to kill those with the knowledge of the truth and the desire to reveal it to all. Most likely found somewhere within Bevelle, a remnant of the machina war that did not get to see battle and was never activated. Similar to Vegnagun in may aspects.
The machina war was a war between Bevelle which fought with Machina and Zanarkand which used summoners and their aeons. Weapons such as Penance were what was sent to battle against the aeons. Considering how powerful Penance is, its no surprise that Zanarkand's aeons lost the war.
I think the fact that your first encounter with penance is when you see it emerge from the scar in the calm lands is crucial to what penance actually is. Going from this logic it could be Lord Ganof’s final aeon or a culmination of unsent souls from the scar

After Penance, welcome Adamantoise :P at least this one is an actually fight tho
45 minutes of quick hit, nice
I like the theory floating around stating Penance is High Summoner Gandof's Final Aeon...
Honestly I like to think it’s a combination of all of the Final Summoning’s souls, with the exception of Jecht and *MAYBE* Zaon, combining into one massively powered being, which would definitely explain why it’s so much more powerful than Sin.
I gave up trying to grind out to fight this guy normally - where does one go with triple Exp for the best grinding? Could never figure that out enough to spend the time to get that many sphere levels
just use the king tomberry bug to get 99 levels in 1 fight easy. xD :3 use guides to get the triple exp. in 2 hours u get the 255 status for all.
Or you could use the omega ruins with triple AP overdrive to Ap and Triple overdrive victor overdrive and gain about 20-30 lvls in about 10 minutes you spend more time on the grid than getting 99 lvls.
Is it bad I see Penance and just like “eh, whatever. Just gonna take a while”
But when I see wakka’s celestial weapon I start having a panic attack cuz I don’t wanna go through blitz all again lol

Best secret boss I've ever fight
At the end...
{Penance: Ha! That's what you think!} Judgement Day suddenly appears on screen.
His Judgement Day attack cannot remove Auto-Life, which means you still can fight him.
If you attack Penance 12 times while both of its arms are still alive, it will counter with Judgement Day, so always make sure you take out the arms whenever they regenerate. With quick hits, you can easily take out the arms before they even act, which is crucial. You don't ever want the arms to act, as they may remove a party member from existence if they get a chance to act.
I used to play final fantasy X for ps2 11 years ago and I never encountered this boss...
You've must defeat all dark aeons first. and then, this superboss appeared on calm lands after you beat them all
shinouten 20 thanks for the info very helpful😊
Good luck with this Asshole
Its only available in the INTL version of the game in ps2
Lads, does penance not do any status attacks? I have all ribbon weapons at the min but thinking about changing to a similar one to yours?
James Eric Bowker Both arms does status attacks if you don't kill them fast enough. It takes 6 turns to kill each arm.
+James Eric Bowker The worst an arm can do is cast Mega Graviton, which is 75% of your maximum health as damage across the entire team. One of the arms also has the capacity to shatter a character instantly if you dont have Ribbons. The other reason you need to shut down the arms is if you dont and the internal counter on Penance hits 23 (+1 per turn and +2 on cast of his 2nd form attack), he fires off Judgment Day which is 99999/999 damage.
Sorry, it was Tetra. Mega is the one that game overs you in Sin.
It doesn't matter whatever it is called. It will deal 75% of your maximum HP as damage and that is an extremely bad thing.
Tsang Sir You can use a grenade to reduce the turns needed to kill him by 2 turns, Since it does splash damage. And that 300 damage will take out the one more attack power needed 99999×5=499,995 And that grenade will take out the 5 damage points

Penance has two floating arms that you need to get rid off somehow, the same way you needed to get rid of Andross’ hands in Starfox 64.
first time i got it with zanmato tbh along with alot of dark aeons too
So wait a minute, Penance was actually a Machina this whole time while Yevon created this monstrosity?
Michael Patrick if you listen to the OST for penance the yu yevon motif is in it. And yu yevon is against the use of machina so I dunno about that. Still the idea of the al bhed creating a machina that was fuelled by the souls of the dead would be DOPE
Save the queen is a staff. My bad.
Hello! I am in need of advise :D I will be playing this game again, and I'm planning on having the 99999 damage. i finished this game without too much grinding.
How do I unlock and have my damage, HP, MP go 99999? Should I unlock all of the character's sphere grid? Thanks!
You need the celestial weapons to get break damage limit and break hp limit is an armor ability. You need to fill the sphere grid if you want completion.
@@lizardsnek6187 thank youu very much! 🤍
I wonder what a boss battle would be like with Yiazmat from FF12 added to FFX. Would love to see it.
If I were implementing that boss into FFX, I would likely nerf Yiazmat's HP to about 15-20 million, and give him an ultimate attack that just instakills the crew, ignoring any effect that guards against instakills. Also he would automatically banish any Aeon you summon so even Yojimbo is useless.
Basically, here would be his stats:
HP: 15,000,000
Max all stats
Moves:
Normal attack - does around 15k damage to one target; inflicts a random status ailment, ignoring protection. Used around 60% of the time.
All Black Magic spells, which cause high damage due to max magic power stat. Elemental Spells are -ga level, and Ultima does 99,999 to the entire party. Used around 20% of the time.
Holy Breath - hits everyone for around 30k; Blinds all targets, ignoring protection. Used around 20% of the time.
Negate Summon - triggers automatically when an aeon is summoned. That summoned aeon is instantly killed, regardless of whose turn it is.
Throne of Judgement - the ultimate attack. Triggers on every 20th turn Yiazmat takes. Instantly kills all characters, ignoring protection (but does not remove Auto-Life).
What do you think? Good mechanics or what?
Hey? Can anybody tell me what sort of skills or magic penance's arms have? I only saw a slow magic on his left arm so I'm curious:)
It literally one hits you when it does a 'slap' type attack
Bad physical attacks, auto-shatters party members, flurry of status effects. All bad news. And leaving them triggers the ultimate attack, Judgement Day, which is an auto-KO.
I saw Yojimbo nudge his head .. like what a stupid boss is that !!
What's the music in the beginning called???
was that the expert sphere grid? i haven't played the remaster yet
I once used a money hack, gave jojinbo the max amount i got. Maybe like 99mil? cant remember and that bastard didnt use his killer move xD
Getting Zanmato depends on a few other criteria than money only, but money plays the biggest role, i think. Google it, it is quite interesting.
I never used Yojimbo in any fight except this one. So he used the killer move right away. I still don't count that as a "real" win against Penance though. :P
How come you have like no accuracy?

@@iCTsang Absolute madlad
Can some explain the dispel? Why?
immolation does 99999 damage to a char with quad break so you get rid of it the turn before penance uses it.
Penance’s immolation inflicts full break, so if you did not remove it with dispel, his next attack for you will deal 99999 damage which will instantly kill your character
Gotta read your party statuses sometimes when moves hit you

I went with ribbon instead of auto-protect on the same party and he went down with a similar strategy in a similar time.
"strategy" the only viable move in this Fight is quick attack, isnt it? Can the arms do something else than slowga?
@@crestfallenwarrior5719 his right arm physical attack can Petrify a character without status protection and it can shatter too, it can cast Calamity like Dark Mindy and Mighty Guard, also his left arm can remove positive status effects, and it can cast Tera-Gravition, which can deal 75% Damage with negative status effects, like Doom, Silence, Darkness, and Sleep.
Late to comment but i just know that agility not reaching 255 is okay for penance fight geez. And acc point below 10...still hit enemies.

:D
Zanmato.
why arent you using the overdrives when he has no arms instead of wasting the hits on his arms
Because the arms are the priority in the fight. In the second phase, Penance has a move that does max damage to HP and MP, and is completely unblockable. The trick is, he needs both arms alive to do it. So keeping the arms dead is key to this fight.
Penance will cast Judgement Day if we not attack of these arms, cause his arms most troublesome.
i just wonder why he keeps using dispel on his character..... 🥺 confuse.
Penance's immolation causes the full break effect on the target so he is trying to dispel the break status

three stars, use item that makes your leading three have 0 mp cost. twin stars is the weaker variant that only effects one character
so what's the point of this battle if u chars have 255 stats and u have all different buffs? this looks so easy. Even if it takes 40 minutes....
It's basically a war of attrition. If you don't keep Penance's arms in check, they will fuck you over really hard.
Xan Saibot think about your comment. This player has maximum stats and still has to fight a 40min battle. That’s just how strong Penance really is. Otherwise it’s just sheer annihilation.
Just waste 2 turns..its all u need to get killed with 99999 hp on your side and even effects..
Penance is not to be taken lightly. He will wipe you out in one turn if you are not fully prepared. Even with a maxed out party, the battle takes a bit. Most people use Tidus for his Slice and Dice or Blitz Ace overdrive, ( I only used the second on his body) Rikku for her mixes, and Wakka for his Attack Reels. NEVER let his arms get a turn. All they do is draw the fight out and wipe out unprepared players. This fight took me 40 minutes. Never again.

Ya I think I'm going to use ya boi jimbo
omg what hp you have... :P
99999HP
I heard it has 10 to 100 million hp
@@varger2618 12,000,000 HP for the main body of Penance. Add an extra 500,000 HP for each of its arms (which regenerate soon after being destroyed).
@@cameraredeye3115 13M Total
@@reiisonfireAE 13M + 500,000 HP each time one of the arms regenerates...
I’m kind of wondering why would any of these heroes fight something that looks literally like a combination of a REMOTE CONTROL and TRANSFORMERS version?
Seriously, looking at it now, it feels kind of frustrating fighting this floating device 😅😅😅
How do you cast dispel with no MP?
using three stars reduces the cost of everything to 0
Why is he using dispel in the first place? I don’t get that
@@theincredibledulskThere’s a bad status effect it effects everyone with like full break that must be dispelled fast or something like that but you can check the party statuses by going to a nul spell and look at thier Name on what is on or effecting
@@theincredibledulskImmolation inflict Full Break, you need to Dispel it before it deals 99999 damage.
Thank God for Zanmato, this fight isn't even fun. If you keep the arms under wraps then Penance can literally only hit you with one attack at a time it seems (Obliteration and Immolation not crossing paths after its 'transformation').
I’ve seen so many with the whole maxout thing, it would be good if someone showed a way to beat it that DIDNT take 1000 hrs of work🙄
Zanmato
Well you’re in for a surprise if ya got Yojimbo!!!!
ZANMATOU. That was my strategy.
Crack-a-Toa!!!
You are that Powerful and it took you around 40 minutes to beat him?
Please tell me how can I be as powerful as that?
Max HP and MP and Strength!
You need to get all your stats to 255 through grind and to do that you need to open all the nodes.
Easy
Use Yojimbo Zamato lol
Is this endurance?
Check my video, my strats a bit more fullproof, especially if you go for not breaking HP limit.
