Your time and efforts are deeply appreciated Chicago fd thanks to everyone who responds keep them safe out there in the windy city of Chicago job well done you should be proud ! Joe
It's really weird to hear fire apparatus with the same siren. I'm from Philly and usually when I can hear a unit responding I know if it's cop car, ambulance, or fire truck. Only a handful don't follow the sound system I recognize, but this was interesting to see. Great catch, the rigs are beautiful!
Christopher Benson why don’t they just use a real q like up here in New York State. We have people who like to lay on it, and blast the horn while flying through the streets. They need to learn about classic sirens.
It's the new spare squad. It doesn't have hose on it as it is used for equipment only and serves only as a spare squad. The bucket's on the snorkel are 55' because of the tight alley's in the city of chicago as well as low overhangs. Squads are part of special op's and have shorter wheel bases for munerverability in tight areas that truck companies cannot get into.
The rig @ 0:56 is actually the new spare squad, formerly Eng.23, the pump & tank were removed & extra compartments added. Hard to see @ night but it says "squad' on front doors.
Its a chicago thing only, they use it for heavy smoke situations when a engine or truck pulls up in a smoky scene, they know what side of the apparatus is facing them. It goes back to marine lighting with green on port side and red on starboard. They use it to help them navigate during low visibility conditions. Hope my answer helps
Someone please tell me why they didn't finishing adding led lights to the back of ambulance 43? All the lights are leds except for the amber flasher in the middle. Just doesn't look right.
its banned in chi town so they replaced it, here in cleveland whoevers ordering the new apparatus decided to put them on along with the q. we only use the real q when responding though
Truck 3 was on the most calls ambulance 42 is using spare CO66 truck 6 responding from station 13 and squad 1 behind squad 1A and squad 1 using squad spare old engine 23
oh ok because it looks like it's the same response but nevermind and the ambulances and the chief cars have a federal siren and airhorns in them as well as the squads ladders and engines
1985 visit to station ?1?... 1974 Hendrickson Morita 146' ladder, had an elevator,2 person if I remember correctly, never seen a rig like that in my 70+ yrs an apparatus buff 👍👍
Listen to them lovely roaring Detroit engines in those rigs!
Awesome set of catches. Lovely rigs and great lights.

Great video - nice catch on the new spare squad
@EngulfedSix District 1, Battalion 1 at 55 West Illinois Street (Illinois and Dearborn) SQUAD 1, SQUAD 1A, ENGINE 42, TRUCK 3, AMBULANCE 42 and more.

Ok thanks, appreciate a response back.
@sfdtruck52 There are no "stations" in the City of Chicago. Only houses.
Love those oscillators and how they bounce off the buildings its cool how they r designed to hit all ur mirrors
Someone please tell me why they didn't finishing adding led lights to the back of ambulance 43? All the lights are leds except for the amber flasher in the middle. Just doesn't look right.
what's the big white truck in the middle of the two ambulances used for?
Working fire, and it's also called command van.
P that’s weird in the squad 1 doesn’t use the Eq2b yet squad 1A uses LA fd siren
Did the engine responding right after the squad have no hose on the back???
how many ambulances are stationed at one station in chicago
my dad is the driver of engine 42! :)
+Jimmy Pegorino Tell him thank you for me the next time you see him!
Jimmy Pegorino 🔥💰🔫

great catches and video of these eminency vecles of this fire department
What is with the green lights??
there are 2 stations w/ 2 ambs. Eng. 42 has A42,93 & Eng.101 has A58,94 the rest have 1, of course there are some w/ 0 ambs.
its banned in chi town so they replaced it, here in cleveland whoevers ordering the new apparatus decided to put them on along with the q. we only use the real q when responding though
Awesome catches!!
Is it me or does the engine at 56 not have anything in the hose bed? And why is the bucket truck so short??
Have they ever had a real Q??
why do they have green lights in the trucks like t6 &t3
Quite enjoyed the Federal Meteor lights on the larger Apparatus! A shame federal is discontinuing them!
why did the Pumper at 0:55 Have no hose in the hose bed
Nice!! Wich camera are you using?
B378 has a federal e single Q2B?
Daniel Gamer215 I feel like all emergency vehicles in Chicago have eq2b sirens except for police cars.
is this all the same responses
All E-Q2B sirens?
any fire poles at this station
why they all going in the same direction everytime?
I saw 1A but where was Squad 1
Truck 3 was on the most calls ambulance 42 is using spare CO66 truck 6 responding from station 13 and squad 1 behind squad 1A and squad 1 using squad spare old engine 23
dose unit B4789 have a Q siren?
No its electric, probably from Whelen
Zach Counts From federal signal
oh ok because it looks like it's the same response but nevermind and the ambulances and the chief cars have a federal siren and airhorns in them as well as the squads ladders and engines
This was over 1 1/2 hours!?!?!?!?!
what else is housed there?
@firemedic916 That "Engine" is the new spare box for the squad.
This is like music to my ears!
0:44 0:51 what sirens are these?
Motorola Spectra and Whelen 295 HFSA1
it makes me wonder how people still dont hear this
I love the Chicago Fire Department
Er... That's my profile name
We love u too
Nice Catch!
It was the engine at 0:55. Thats the spare for squad 1
thanks
The city that never sleeps! CFD is the best fire department in the United States!!
why was there no hose in that one engine's bed.
+Will-i-am95 That engine was being used as a spare squad unit. Squads in the city don't carry hose
fire happens when my cat shouts ''I LOVE POOP''
Love the spare squad!
The three dislikes are from people who couldn't cut it as a firefighter and now work boring desk jobs.
Its a squad company, it used to be Engine 23.
0:54 that's not engine 42 it is a spare squad 1
first video i think ive ever seen with squad 1A being the only truck going without its mate
That truck that looked like engine 42 was a spare squad 1
i like how the chief car has a federal q on it and on the Ambulance
1985 visit to station ?1?... 1974 Hendrickson Morita 146' ladder, had an elevator,2 person if I remember correctly, never seen a rig like that in my 70+ yrs an apparatus buff 👍👍
Thats Chicago I'm not sure
How many Q's do they need
What year is truck 3
2002
Cool!! That Battalion has an EQ2B siren!!!
Awesome Responce !!!
it is a squad 1 not engine 42
You guys must really love your Q in Chicago.
@51ENGINE51 It's guys sittin out front in office chairs. Why would you even ask that?
Nice video
0:29. I've never seen fire trucks with green lights on them!!!
It is a CFD tradition.
Multiple calls.
LOL I was making a joke, thanks for killing it. :)
this makes it a little not make sense because squad 1A going first? WHAT? oh and nice to see ambulance 42 using a spare as a CO which is CO66
Because ambulances make frequent stops when responding.
Is that those fake, electronic "Federal Q" sirens they're using??
Yes
90210FireBuff what's up my friend
