Truck 29 became an ALS rig so that Engines 113 and 117 wouldn't have to follow them on ALS runs anymore when the ambulance wasn't that close by. Truck 29s normally assigned apparatus is a 2002 Pierce 100 Foot Rearmount.
All the fire equipment used on "CF" are or were real used CFD vehicles. The ambo grahics were changed for the show. Otherwise all the rigs used were once in CFD service. They are now retired vehicles.
Yeah, it's traditional to use the manual. The fire service follows a lot of tradition. And a lot of people need that manual siren peaked so the sound gets into their asses (where their heads are).
dirk you should see if you can get on a rig with an eQ2b and newer. the vids ive seen are on like old rigs? is chicago fire giving you a hard time on ride along or?
All that just to get to White Castle!?!?!? Damn I could only imagine how they drive when there going to a working or fully engulfed structure fire......
why would that matter????? deaf people are allowed to drive, even then they arent blind. i have never heard of a death person say oh im death and i didnt see the lights either, death people have some of the best vision
@@brennancrumb835 all depends on the spec...one department in my county is almost exclusively Seagrave, and they absolutely love them. City of Auburn (Cayuga County) still has one of the original fixed-mount J cab rearmounts in service as their second out ladder, they refuse to get rid of it because it just won't die (and it's been going into service far more often lately as their LaFrance tower rapidly deteriorates).
nice video , i think the u.s Firemen are more cooler or they have more respect as in europe... there was the siren all along the way , in germany they are more silence ....
When they give driver's tests they should include a hearing test from a qualified audiologist. Why is it that even when they hear the loud sound of a firetruck's siren that people are still stupid enough to almost get decked by an oncoming firetruck. Because they won't pull over and stop and give the firetruck the legal right-of-way? Just like the bus driver and various drivers of cars in this video.
I saw when I was a teenager a car hit a firetruck going to a fire. I could see the blood of hurt fireman oozing out from beneath their firetruck because of some numbskull imbecile was in such a big hurry and failed to yield the right of way to the firetruck. I never did hear what happened to those the firetruck was going to rescue. It never ceases to amaze me how dumb and selfish some drivers act.
There is no Q on this old spare. And to use the Pa 300 manually is how FDNY and CFD do it . It old school , obviously losers like u can't realize that .

How do you guys do your work?
nice older truck, not many old fire trucks around anymore :(
Dirk, I hope you are very careful, this is a rough part of Chicago.
Is that a Detroit diesel?
OG Truck 81
Thats CFD for you! The manual on the pa-300 is their best friend.
why doesn't CFD have the ability to change street intersection lights like other cities do in the subburbs ?
man kann es normalerweise manuell bedienen oder auf normale sirene schalten
The Captain or the Lt controls the siren, there is a button below his feet where you can control it
It seems like you always ride on the spare rigs.

thats how they do things down here they like to actually use the siren and not let it just go automatically.
could they not find their patient?
i am pretty sure its an older Federal Signal PA300
This is a spare truck the # E268 is the shop #, just a way to keep track of all apparatus
Dirk, ich werd grün vor Neid. Wie machst du das immer spazierst du einfach zu dennen hin und fragst ob du mit darfst oder wie O.o

How do you get to do ride alongs?
I think you either have to know somebody in the department. Or fill out paperwork to ride with them.
Got old Detroit!

nice crazy big moe air horn action to to teach the traffic
als means Advanced Life Support
Sorry for the grammar but using a translation program. I don't speak English
Sweet. I know where you guys ended up. Did they ever find the person? Great video and great use of air horns.
Hey Dirk, any idea who was working the siren that day? I didn't see anybody's hand touching the siren control box.
The Officer has a foot pedal on the floor to manually activate the siren.
Sounds like the fdny manual

2:08 Walking out in the path of a firetruck?!
That's the same truck of @Chicago Fire Truck 66 and Truck 81
Wow both your ride along videos involve a spare. Wait till you ride with the newer rigs, a lot louder and a lot faster.
I think all chicago fire trucks are this old
So, was there someone hurt now or was it only a prank? Nice video! ;)
All that just to get to White Castle!?!?!? Damn I could only imagine how they drive when there going to a working or fully engulfed structure fire......

Note to self... next time in Chicago must go to the Human Hair store.
why would that matter????? deaf people are allowed to drive, even then they arent blind. i have never heard of a death person say oh im death and i didnt see the lights either, death people have some of the best vision
truck needs a new non annoying siren....
ChicagoBlackhawkFan6 Who cares if it’s annoying? It’s a siren. It does what it’s supposed to do, which is make noise and draw attention to itself.
That defeats the whole purpose of siren 😂
Geile Sache
Will da auch mal mitfahren, das wärs :D Alleine die Hupe immer :D
Damn shame the didnt stick with seagrave. The new pierces look good tho
Seagraves are not good quality

Ha! Nice break from the shrill Q!
LOL you no its Chicago by how the suns not out one minute then the next it is out!
Sorry, I commented before I read it.
If annoying makes people move, I'll take it over an automatic (regular) tone any day.
