I love how every other faction is taking their time and sizing up the one in front of them, whereas, the minute the Scandinavians saw eachother on opposite ends of the field, they did not waste any time firing the first shot immiedietly

They aren't that good in real life I've known lots of Scandinavian soldiers in modern warfare. They are usually pretty calm gentle people and don't tend to often like conflict as their ancestors did. Speaking of Norwegian danish and Swedish.

@@goddessoflesbians1153 Russia wanted some ports in the Baltic to trade with the west. All Sweden neighbors were afraid of Sweden being too powerful, so Poland, Russia, and Denmark tried to gangbang Sweden. It didn't go so well in the first phases.
Charles XII straight up raped Russia and Denmark in the beginning he's easily one of the greatest generals in history but for some reason lost the will to fight

I really liked the Ottoman player playstyle. His army are dispersed to helo every front of the battlefield yet he still holding his own flanks.
His cav charge and some of his Jannissaries charge are also very effective and crucial that Sweden terrific losses can be mitigated.
Yeah ottomans played brilliantly. Like he was the band aid that held the team together.

2:50 Sweden went to war against Denmark several times.
First in gaining its independence from the Kalmar Union.
Then several times in trying to earn territorial gains in Norway, which at several points was owned by Denmark.
Sweden used to rule the north. I would recommend looking up the Great Northern War, as well as Sweden's role in the Thirty Years' War.

Sweden and Denmark also fought during the Napoleonic Wars. The Danes joined the French and fought against the British as well. Look up the Gun Boat War. So the Danish were historically French allies and the Swedes switched sides.

Denmark and Sweden are the only nations to go to war with each other more than England (and Great Britain by extension) and France so it’s safe to say the Scandinavian rivalry is there

Napoleon forces tried to invade Portugal three times and failed each time. Portugal didn't make a single attack during this war but was one of the few countries who never closed their trade lines woth england. Portugal also invented a new and very effective type of explosive ammunition. Portugal sold it exclusively to england and it's allies. During the second Napoleon invasion (I think) Portugal tested this ammunition for the first time in battle, 3 shots from the cannons destroyed a platoon of Napoleon elite footmarksman and two more shots killed half a charging cavalry force. The surviving had their horses panicking and not a single soldier reached the target either fleeing or dying for rifle fire. Retreat was called right after. (sorry if any of the militar terms is incorrect)
In total i think the times Sweden and denmark went to war is larger than the times Great Britain and France went to war

So, if you wanted to be more historical accurate, Denmark and Sweden should have switched sides during this battle.
After all, Denmark supporting Napoleon was the main reason that Norway was lost/given to Sweden. Who in turn supported the British. Before it would be forced upon them, Denmark gave Norway independence (although motives and possible future desires to claim it back can be argued) and before they even had the chance to enjoy that freedom, Sweden invaded them and now claimed ownership. And this is how the Norwegian flag came to be. Danish Flag with a blue (Swedish) line in the middle. Voilá.
Also, I feel so sad about all the Swedes in the comments trying to bloat about how big and important Sweden are/were. In reality, if it wasn't for German/French officers/mercenaries, Scandinavia didn't really have much to compete with, other than strategic location based on trade.

It's sometimes funny how little Apollo knows about this game. He gives the weirdest advices. Like the commentary though. He knows lots of stuff about the greater strategy but the more tactical small things weird stuff

That's a great performance from the Ottoman and French Players, ripping through the British easily
Yeah, that was good teamwork. I feel Portugal really dropped the ball by withdrawing into a corner. That left the British flank wide open. The Prussian player also did really well, dispatching the Portuguese with minimal casualties. On the other team the Russian player performed really well, withdrawing and holding the line at the right moments and fighting very effectively against both the French and Ottomans, and later making some good moves against the Prussians that almost ended up winning them the battle.
@@jodofe4879 If Portugal wasn't a noob who got slaughtered, the Danes and Russians could have pulled it over the line. Prussia's army was almost untouched!

Russian guards are REALLY good in melee. Even Russia's musketeers are better than most other European countries normal line infantry in melee.

No, really. Compared to the newer battlefield, Marshalls during Napoleonic wars have high casualties rate. The chances figures are even higher than a line infantry.

yes denmark and sweden has had a lot of rivalry and fighting with each other not really around napoleon though(it's kinda a love hate sibling relationship). denmark wanted to stay neutral but was kidna friendly towards france and denmark had some big scary ships which england was afraid of in case denmark allied with france so they repeatedly sunk danish ships and bombed copenhagen(1807). the danish king didn't like that and because of the bombing of copenhagen he allied with france. a bit later they lost southern territory due to the locals wanting to be german(prussia at the time) this was settled with the battle of dybøl where 2000 danish troops stood against 10000 prussians. the prussians had better equipment with their new bolt-action rifles and new artillery which could be loaded from behind. a frenchman said that the french army would've broken long before the duration of bombardment the danish took before the final charge(1864).
edit: denmark had previously gained the 3 disputed prussian/german provinses(slesvig, holstein, adn one i can't remember the name of). these were given to denmark at the same time as they lost norway at a convention concluding a war which could have been the napoleonic one can't really remember all of it(1814).

It's more due to the fact that he shows other peoples replays, and he can only show what he gets. NTW 3 is a niche mod, and mod games are hard to organize even for popular mods.

Why does the Ottoman cav look like they could be in medieval 2
Ottoman Empire was very weak and corrupt after end of 16th century, and their military was unbelievably dated. Similar to Sparta in 300 BC, they had a very hard time to adapt to their time and only thing that hold the army together was levie's rough strength and obedience.
In late Roman empire, army system was damaged beyond repair. Roman citizen legionarries were replaced by non-citizen (and/or mercenary) comitatenses. While Western Roman Empire was just a small fleck of their formal strength and glory, It somehow hold up for at least few centuries. Similar thing can be said for Ottoman Empire. They were very weak but somehow strong enough to not get shattered to pieces until WWI.
Also they played both sides depending on politics of the period. Sometimes they were allied with French, sometimes with British, and sometimes with Germans. Main force that put unity of Ottoman Empire in danger was Russians, so depending on which Europian nation sided with Russians to keep relative peace, Ottomans sided with others.

Why were they waiting for the Prussians to join the main army?? They Danes and Russians should've attacked the French right away, force the Prussians to move quick and see if they make mistakes.
Pfft.. Portugal really weighed down the red team. Wasn't paying attention and got their flank rolled up before they started forming square, didn't even attempt to reconnect with the British. The British did okay, but real MVP for red team was Russia. They put the hurt on the Ottomans and supported Britain. Denmark did okay but they should have pushed harder against Sweden.
