THIS TUNE IS A TUNE I WROTE FOR ALEX IN 1978 79 WHEN I WAS WORKING WITH HIM WITH JIMMY NALLS ON GUITAR AND MYSELF ON DRUMS NEIL LARSON ON KEYBOARDS/ AND I NEVER SAW ANY MONEY FROM THIS TUNE AT ALL --.ALEX DID A NICE JOB ON IT.
I'm always looking for more Alex Taylor music. He was a big influence on me after I saw him open for ABB in Montreal. That was a double shot of brilliant soul music. I've got the first 2 on vinyl and a copy of Voodoo In Me which I thankfully found on the net. And now this rare track. I can't get enough.
I was very fortunate to see "THE" Alex Taylor play Live back in the early 70's. His band eventually turned into Sea Level with Chuck Leavell, Jimmy Nalls, Scott Boyer.... They opened for the Allman Brothers.
I hope that The family is working to release this album by Alex. It would be wonderful to hear. Perhaps as part of a box set or with demos or unreleased studio tracks. He has many fans. Please...please...please.
What a great gem! Thanks for this one. I guess this is from the rumoured 3rd album from Alex? It is hard to find, how about some more from this album. It would be great to hear.
Has Alex's "Third for Music" surfaced anywhere in any format ?. His amazing work is such a rare find. Have his other 4 albums and am looking for this and "Live at the Horseshoe Tavern" (1984)" or any other recordings.
Ruby/Patti, I have a copy of Alex Taylor's "Voodoo In You" on Kingsnake Records. It has "Vanessa" on it. The CD is next to impossible to find these days. Would you like a copy?
I was fortunate enough to see your father in law play several times on the Cape...at The Mill Hill with his siblings and also with James Montgomery. He could wail. What a set of pipes. Gone way too soon. RIP
@tashabee69 Oh yes please post more! I've been searching for this album since I first heard about it in the '90s, but I'd finally just written it off as an error. At one point, someone contacted me about it on the forum at the James Taylor Online forum but I lost their private message and was never able to follow-up about it. Was that you? Either way, thank you for posting! I hope this gets officially released some day.
great stuff , thanks for sharing

Capricorn did well when they signed Alex. True southern rocker. What a family
@Natasha Taylor Is there still a plan to try to release the rest of this treasured album? We all love Alex's music so much!
