Hey everyone! I've done an ADDITIONAL "Greatest Designer Fragrances Ever" video that covers some of the ones that I probably should've covered here. It's at ua-cam.com/video/8KGRPl7qVSQ/v-deo.html if you're interested!
Interesting - kind of a Hall of Fame deal. Before I check out pt.II, I will just list Old Spice, Brut, Canoe, Le Malle, Caron Pour Homme, Lagerfeld, Aramis, Chrome, and Dior Sauvage. Thanks, and take care. ( kiss that girl )
This is your best video! I really liked the narative ane the chosen fragrances. There is an old saying in my country: "May you live one thousand years! ... At least!" Cheers!
To a guy born in the 70s, ck eternity would be up there. Hugely popular in the 90s. Pretty much defined the college scene of the 90s. Another standout from late that decade is d&g pour homme. You couldn't swing a dead cat in those days without hitting a twenty something guy wearing it. And from the early 90s, there is another decade defining frag, chanel egoïste platinum. My signature scent of the 90s.
Glad too see the OG Issy Miyake gets a mention its now 2022 i have it in my collection and still smells great, im starting a new job in a few hours and Dior Homme Intense is ready for the night.
Felt that bottle crash, good that it was not a full or a original release bottle. Versace Pour Homme is one of the fragrances that I really do not like, a lot of say that Sauvage is body wash/shower gel vibe scent, but for me it is Versace Pour Homme. Big love for Fahrenheit, one of the first fragrances that really captivated me and got me into fragrances back in the day and it is nothing close to dated even today. Was really expecting a Mugler fragrance anytime, but it never came, not even in a honorable mention. One of my favorite Designer houses.
I’m a huge fan of Fahrenheit I tried the perfume the other day and wasn’t blown away I prefer the original easily over the perfume. I can get maybe some complaint over the first 20 seconds to a minute maybe, but after that it’s beautiful. I’ve never had anybody tell me they didn’t like it in fact most people always ask what is that?! It smells great
I love Antaeus and Fahrenheit. I wore the hell out of them in the day. I would still wear them. (even if I had to sit by myself!) Great review and presentation. Thank you sir.
With a limited budget, I must choose between fragrances I have had in the past and the new releases I haven't tried yet. And you right, I should have at least one of these in my (limited) collection.
Really growing to appreciate your videos. You don't focus on the trends. You honor the trendsetters. My all time favorite, the one that blew me away at first spritz, is DK Men Fuel in '94. Which fragrance is the closest to this discontinued fragrance? Keep up the excellent work!
Definitely do a personal top 10, that was for the fragrance gods, lets hear your personal list without worrying about giving frags credit even though you don’t like them as much as the ones listed here, good video but I’m looking forward to the better version with your favorites!
i think its a great effort that you mentioned Bleu de chanel....it was fading away from community....its such an awesome frag :) lovely list.agree with all of them
Great list!! Colognes and memories!! Each cologne in this list reminds me of something! That’s how u combine a good smell with a good memory. does it even get better than that?
TheRealGally... If you can't find Gucci Envy.. grab a bottle of Invidia by Alexandria Fragrances. Very Inexpensive and It is supremely close to Gucci Envy I'd say 99.7% (actually performs better)
Great list Ashton. My only suggestion would be replacing Bleu de Channel with Dior Sauvage. I think Sauvage has had a much greater impact on the fragrance community over Blue de Channel.
Really surprised you mentioned Fahrenheit Absolute but I truely love the direction it took a classic! Great selections and some very difficult decisions driving that list!
2 fragrances I would like to add would be Terre D Hermes EDT & Tom Ford Grey Vetiver EDP...Specially the kind of impact Terre D Hermes has had...it can never be ignored...amazing smell, amazing performance!
My Top 10 1. Sake by Fresh 2. YSL L'Homme 3. D&G The One 4. Emporio Armani 5. Acqua Di Gio 6. Polo Green Bottle 7. Boss The Scent 8. Calvin Klein Escape 9. Drakkar Noir 10. Joop
I love this video Ash!! because this video proof what Ive been saying after all these last Masterpieces there's not more creativity on the Designer Fragrance side. All flankers after all these babies. Thanks to put this outstanding video together.
For me le male and one million have had major influences regardless weather people like them still today is a different matter all together , but to be fair I'm a relatively newbie to this game and I'm pretty sure you know a hell of a lot more about fragrances than I do , like the idea of this video quite unique and like you said extremely difficult to come up with just 10 , good job 👍
1993 Junior High I smelled joop for the first time, and I was amazed. The next few years that followed were amazing for just getting into it. Jpg le male, A men, and ADG.
I like your thinking here Ashton. This video is about greatness. And one factor of greatness is time/legacy/influence. Such a bitch to sift through a topic when you’re trying to factor in that much. FWIW: I think Drakkar can be pulled off amongst a younger crowd. You’ve gotta really be light in the trigger, but most people in their 20s were not suffocated by Drakkar abuse in the past, so to them they’re smelling something unique.
WOW!! I didnt expect myself to own your TOP 3 fragrances of all time. I own about 7 fragrances, and your TOP 3 are included. :D That makes me glad ! Thank you for this video, you know about what you are talking!
Great list Ashton! I agree with you on Bleu de Chanel as #1 for sure. I'm surprised original Le mal didn't make your list, though I'm not super crazy about that one. I gave my bottle to my dad. ..lol! I also have la nuit and it is great. L'instant de Guerlain is great in wintertime. I bought Perry Ellis 360 Red as a cheaper alternative to Aqua di Gio. I don't wear it a lot but it's solid. One of my favorite anytime fragrances has become Versace Man Eau Fraiche.
All timers: 1. BDC 2. 1 Million Lucky 3. Spicebomb Extreme I'm new to scents. But the question I ask myself is, "Do I smile when I think about wearing this?" I do with BDC when thinking about what to wear to work. I do with Lucky when I think about dressing in normal clothes. I do with spicebomb extreme (even though I'm not a spicy fan) when I think about cold weather.
I know this list is virtually impossible to make without some omissions but for me the glaring one is CK One. I didn't know anyone who didn't bathe in the stuff after it came out. The female version was DKNY. My college signature scent too, Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger. I need to get a new bottle just for nostalgia. I'm sure it's much weaker. Great concept and wonderful video.
For me it was joop. I can't stand the stuff today, but that was the one that made me start to think about looking deeper than go to classics before that. Really just taking the risk to start incorporating what were considered more feminine scents into men's frangrances as a whole is what changed a lot.
Good average Joe content man... All reviewers nowadays are going into the deep hits/niche and whatnot. I got that sauvage clone you did a couple vids back & liked it. Dont change man.
I'll second this. Average Joe content is a compliment. Don't want to mention any names, but some guys have gone off the rails with searching out every independent perfumer (I gotta believe free samples have something to do with this) and I lose interest real fast because most of us simply don't dive in that far. I can appreciate the Scent Stories of the world wanting to make an impact somehow, but honestly, 99% of the world just won't go there
Sorry about that Lidge Ashton, but so glad you did not drop the Gucci one :) Great video, i learned quite a bit. Boss was my first designer fragrance actually.
Very respectable list! I'm so glad it didn't have any of the flavor of the month new releases like some top 10 lists. This is very well thought out. The only thing I would change is having JPG Le Male at one of the top 3 in the list and bump Bleu to the 8th spot.
I KNEW you'd include DHI. I totally called it! Great fragrance! I like your whole list. I wouldn't make many changes, except I might change DHI to DH since it started the whole Iris thing in men's perfumery. I especially agree with Vetiver, Polo Green, Fahrenheit, Acqua di Gio, and Bleu de Chanel. Huge influences! I may have included Azzaro Pour Homme, and Zino Davidoff. Great video!
nice topic to touch on! I love BDC and the one by dolce was my first ever designer purchase(love it too) and dont know why i cant smell lanuit de l'homme even after 8 sprays on me...it smells bland to me now a days...
Holy shit Ashton, within an hour you've already got 65 comments. That's a lot of work. I like that Polo Green . Will look for Modern Reserves. Great list.
Great video. and your list made sense. also liked how you talked about alternatives as well.. great video. For me, the fragrances I think had an impact. In no order.. drakkar noir, fahrenheit, cool water, curve, adg, ck one, Amen/puremalt, le male, la nuit, bleu de chanel, dhi/dh. 1 million.... I would put ADG as number 1. Fahrenheit no. 2 le male 3. bdc 3
Some great choices and i definitely agree what you said about your no.1 pick. It has inspired so many new creations. PS- i also love Fahrenheit and glad to see it on your list
Fantastic video . . . well thought out Ashton !! Rankings aside, these all were great ! The only thing that I might have added somewhere is TF Black Orchid . Also, I too was taken aback when I first sniffed D&G The one . . .certainly an all time classic. ( I get 5-6 hrs longevity EDT . . .phenomenal Autumn fragrance) Again, I can only imagine all the time spent trying to put this list together !! Thank you ! :)
This should have been a top 20 list but great top 10. I own a few I wore the newer boss bottled intense edp to work the other day and a lady I work with almost lost her mind she was like "Wow what is that cologne your wearing I am gonna buy that for my son" so its a great compliment getter.
Much respect! I have wanted to do one but the thought of narrowing it down to ten was kinda overwhelming. In my humble opinion Drakkar should be higher. Seeing its effect on women in the 80s and 90s. Compared to frags that came after...It is hard to think of a fragrance that had a bigger effect on women than Drakkar.
My most favorite fragrance would be Herrera by Carolina Herrera. Amazing fragrance and I have considered it my signature scent for a long time. It’s been forever since I’ve worn it and I need to buy for myself a bottle.
An old one but still a classic is by Aramis TUSCANNY it was my first $90 bottle back 20 odd years ago and still retails for $125 AUD its a classic you can pick it up at some discounters for about $40 AUD but brings back so many memories and another one called RED for Men haven't seen it anywhere but I think you can still get it.
I own the Blue Channel... i agree. It smells amazing... just that its performance is quite week in hot climates, thats where i am from... anyways amazing video.
Excellent video. I learned a lot. I agree Blue is very nice and got complements when I wore it at work. These days I find myself a Gaultier fan though with Le Male.
I'm sorry for your dead bottle Ashton! I agree with you George! Even sauvage that came after Bleu de Chanel had his own impact! But the fragance I was astonished he didn't mention was A*Men: the entrance to the gourmet world in fragances... and also Mugler Cologne that inspired Creed Vetiver. For most of the rest I agree, despite my ignorance about some of them...
Those are definite classics...I definitely like Polo Green (10)....Hey!.....I didn't know that my current bottle was a classic.....Next to 1....Yep I agree completely with Bleu de Chanel....Just recently I decided to find another signature scent instead of Bleu....This time it's not as easy as before. OK thanks Ashton for another awesome video....I assume your neck pain is better?
This was the best list I've seen in the last 3 years. Chanel is my #1 as well. I like Aqua di Gio too but don't have that one. I've smelled it for years on other people and in the stores. I will probably look to pick that one up some time. For now, my top are Chanel's Bleu, YSL's LNdL, and Dior's Sauvage EDP/EDT (I have both and can't decide which I like better so I just bought both and layer them sometimes...sue me).
@@deanjones4392 man. I love giving my advice about this because I am super picky and I was once at a point whee I only had one cologne too. Take my suggestion with a grain of salt and try these out at a Macy's or Nordstrom but YSLs La Nuit de L'Homme and Tom Fords Noir Extreme. Those two with Sauvage make my holy Trinity of all star fragrances.
Great video man, loving the content and the subjects you been putting out, you have one of those channels where you can just watch the videos from beginning to end and never get bored, p.s when that glass broke I kinda cringed and froze, it felt like I dropped my own bottle lol rip
Hey everyone! I've done an ADDITIONAL "Greatest Designer Fragrances Ever" video that covers some of the ones that I probably should've covered here. It's at ua-cam.com/video/8KGRPl7qVSQ/v-deo.html if you're interested!
Gents Scents at least it wasnt the death of Envy. Great video.
DG the one and BDC for sure
My favorite of all time, Hugo Boss Elements, 80s in a bottle! Still have an original 3/4 full bottle.
Yeah, I couldn't agree with you more......Bleu De Chanel really is an absolute number 1 in so many ways.
Many thanks......all the way from London !
RIP Gucci Envy
It was LIDGE, the Envy lived on.
I still have some left of GE, only wear it for very special occasions.
@@GentsScents Two years later,...did he place a rubber mat? (pinky to lip)
"I'm glad I already shot that one" Hahahaha! Always so cool and calm!! I would've just screamed if my bottle shattered. Great video!!
The Broadwalk I know I would have punched out my camera lol
Thank you for bringing out the classics: Cool Water, Fahrenheit, Drakkar and even Guerlain's original Vetiver.
Thank you for including Polo. I don't think it gets near the love it deserves.
This is your best video! I really liked the narative ane the chosen fragrances.
There is an old saying in my country: "May you live one thousand years! ... At least!"
Cheers!
Thank you!
I agree, definitely his best video and one of my favourites from any reviewer.
Fragrance Tattoo....sir, I definitely agree with you...this is the best, yet!!!
To a guy born in the 70s, ck eternity would be up there. Hugely popular in the 90s. Pretty much defined the college scene of the 90s.

eternity is so dope
Eternity created the Febreeze and Glade plug-in scent
Glad too see the OG Issy Miyake gets a mention its now 2022 i have it in my collection and still smells great, im starting a new job in a few hours and Dior Homme Intense is ready for the night.

Ashton, your videos are getting better and better! I don’t agree with half the list, but love seeing your take on it! Keep up the great work!
I’m a huge fan of Fahrenheit I tried the perfume the other day and wasn’t blown away I prefer the original easily over the perfume. I can get maybe some complaint over the first 20 seconds to a minute maybe, but after that it’s beautiful. Great video buddy, really enjoyed!!
Thanks Greg!
Great old school fragrences. I enjoyed cool water and polo...back in the day.
You are a real dude most reviewers would not have left the part when the bottle broke in the video. Bravo sir
Really growing to appreciate your videos. You don't focus on the trends. You honor the trendsetters. My all time favorite, the one that blew me away at first spritz, is DK Men Fuel in '94. Which fragrance is the closest to this discontinued fragrance? Keep up the excellent work!
Gucci envy, Fahrenheit and Chanel blue are my favourites.
Could you do a best 80's, 90's and naughties of your favourite fragrence video?
Definitely do a personal top 10, that was for the fragrance gods, lets hear your personal list without worrying about giving frags credit even though you don’t like them as much as the ones listed here, good video but I’m looking forward to the better version with your favorites!
Bleu de Chanel is a clear winner, a no-brainer number 1. The richer EDP is especially good. Great vid
i think its a great effort that you mentioned Bleu de chanel....it was fading away from community....its such an awesome frag :) lovely list.agree with all of them
Nice video Ashton! Do you plan on doing a niche list? I teared up at the Acqua Di Gio part.
Sure, I could do a niche list. AdG brings a tear to my eye 😢
Great list!! Colognes and memories!! Each cologne in this list reminds me of something! That’s how u combine a good smell with a good memory. does it even get better than that?
Mint list. I need to see if I can track down some Gucci Envy. Also, that shatter was heard 'round the world. RIP LIDGE.
RIP LIDGE, we will remember you.
I can see where you're coming from, but if there was no BdC there may have never been a Sauvage.
Ahhh L'Eau D'Issey... I've been wearing it, amongst others, for 23 years now. This is my scent... probably always will be.
Really enjoyed your list.
You're fast becoming one of my favorite reviewers. Keep em coming!
Really surprised you mentioned Fahrenheit Absolute but I truely love the direction it took a classic! Great selections and some very difficult decisions driving that list!
Great review Ashton & glad to see BDC at no1. Was the fragrance that started my collecting & also my first absolute love
What a great list. Love the reviews from your channel over all the other frag channels out there.
This was great! I agree with all your rationalizations...and sorry about LIDGE! 💀
Definitely a tough list to make - I can tell you put a lot of time, thought, and effort into it - great job!
Nice list! My favorites right now are: Fahrenheit, Angel Men, Dior Homme, Guerlain LIDGE, Boss Bottled.
Great Top Ten and honorable mentions!!!! Have at least 6 of your Top Ten !!!! Thanks as always
Loved the list!!! Great job on the video Ashton, I personally agreed with the Top 5 you chose
for me BDC and Sauvage would be a tie at number 1. regardless, awesome list!! very good picks. keep it up bro👍👍💪💪
Seems you are really a calm and relaxed person, very sympathetic.
Oh my goodness!! That Polo Green is so off-putting but I'm drawn to it in a weird way..🤔 it's some sort of sick mind game 🤯 LOL great list Ashton!
2 fragrances I would like to add would be Terre D Hermes EDT & Tom Ford Grey Vetiver EDP...Specially the kind of impact Terre D Hermes has had...it can never be ignored...amazing smell, amazing performance!
My Top 10
1. Sake by Fresh
2. YSL L'Homme
3. D&G The One
4. Emporio Armani
5. Acqua Di Gio
6. Polo Green Bottle
7. Boss The Scent
8. Calvin Klein Escape
9. Drakkar Noir
10. Joop
Great video, Ash. As always, so very informative. Thanks for your intensive knowledge with fragrances.
Wow!! With the exception of Gucci Envy, Guerlain Vetiver, and Boss Bottled, I own every fragarance that you mentioned! Good list!!
The original Eau Savage was the best cologne of the 80’s
Dior Eau Savauge is one of the best colognes NOW. And yes, I'm talking about the 1966 frag.
Every one of your honorable mentions are my personal favorite.I agree with every one of your choices. U are a fragrance badass!
Your vids are getting better and better!!
I love this video Ash!! because this video proof what Ive been saying after all these last Masterpieces there's not more creativity on the Designer Fragrance side. All flankers after all these babies. Thanks to put this outstanding video together.
Thanks Rafael! Appreciate it brother
I'll do a follow up to touch on some more scents. Obviously a lot had to be left out.
Nigel Smith Great point. I don’t care for it, but le male should definitely be on there!
Yes! Gucci Envy was my jam during all my old-school Vegas trips. How I miss that absolute winner.
1993 Junior High I smelled joop for the first time, and I was amazed. The next few years that followed were amazing for just getting into it. Jpg le male, A men, and ADG.

All timers:
1. BDC
2. 1 Million Lucky
3. Spicebomb Extreme
I'm new to scents.
I agree, I'll make a follow up. I want to touch on CK One, Le Male, D&G PH, TDH, AMen/Pure Havane, Rive Gauche/Jazz, Code and a few more.
Wet Shaving Fraghead I agree
Yeah I forgot about this one. Like 94 through 97 or 98 had some big ones.
Yep, I rocked CK One in junior high and high school in the 90's 😎
For me it was joop. I can't stand the stuff today, but that was the one that made me start to think about looking deeper than go to classics before that. Really just taking the risk to start incorporating what were considered more feminine scents into men's frangrances as a whole is what changed a lot.

Great video, i learned quite a bit.
A*Men and T'erre d Hermes should also have an honorable mention at the least.
I really like the respect that you have for the old classic fragrance. 🙏👍.
Follow up to this is coming in the next day or two where I spotlight some more
I constantly reach for Guerlain Vetiver.. I have the shave cream too n it smells phenomenal. Strong adult grassy green elegant smell.
nice topic to touch on! I love BDC and the one by dolce was my first ever designer purchase(love it too) and dont know why i cant smell lanuit de l'homme even after 8 sprays on me...it smells bland to me now a days...
Le male should have definitely been on this list. Otherwise pretty good list!
WowPWner17 la male kinda sucks too sweet
WowPWner17 I agree 100%
Amazingly good list mate
That’s the best I have seen
Holy shit Ashton, within an hour you've already got 65 comments.
That's a lot of work.
I like that Polo Green . Will look for Modern Reserves.
Great list.
10:02 Hillarious and sad at the same time. May have watched that 7 times . Ashton I'm so sorry for your loss.
2 le male 3. bdc 3
Great List and you are funny and very professional. Awesome!
Wow what an amazing vid! Great job
Some great choices and i definitely agree what you said about your no.1 pick. It has inspired so many new creations. PS- i also love Fahrenheit and glad to see it on your list
My next 3 fragrances? Versace pour homme, versace the dreamer, versace dylan blue
Nice list good to see somebody bring these back up it was like bringing up childhood at a family reunion so well done and told 👍👍😂
Fantastic video . . . well thought out Ashton !!
Rankings aside, these all were great ! The only thing that I might have added somewhere is TF Black Orchid .
Also, I too was taken aback when I first sniffed D&G The one . . .certainly an all time classic. ( I get 5-6 hrs longevity EDT . . .phenomenal Autumn fragrance)
Again, I can only imagine all the time spent trying to put this list together !! Thank you ! :)
This should have been a top 20 list but great top 10. I own a few I wore the newer boss bottled intense edp to work the other day and a lady I work with almost lost her mind she was like "Wow what is that cologne your wearing I am gonna buy that for my son" so its a great compliment getter.

Compared to frags that came after...It is hard to think of a fragrance that had a bigger effect on women than Drakkar.
I love Drakkar Noir, legit. It was the first fragrance I wore regularly (when I was in elementary school no less).
My most favorite fragrance would be Herrera by Carolina Herrera. Amazing fragrance and I have considered it my signature scent for a long time. It’s been forever since I’ve worn it and I need to buy for myself a bottle.
An old one but still a classic is by Aramis TUSCANNY it was my first $90 bottle back 20 odd years ago and still retails for $125 AUD its a classic you can pick it up at some discounters for about $40 AUD but brings back so many memories and another one called RED for Men haven't seen it anywhere but I think you can still get it.
nice review Ashton. suprised didnt mention LeMale or A*Men...but props for narrowing down a designer goat.
I got those on the 2nd one!
I remember back in the day Eternity being so amazing. As kid, I would spray letters to girls I liked with it. LOL!
Awesome video Ash. Keep the videos coming, please.
Interesante lista. Sin duda una guía 👍
You deserve waaay more subscribers
Your videos are awesome
Great video Ashton! I noticed Blecker Street in the background of the video, how is this possible I thought it was discontinued?
Sorry Ashton but i think Le male,One million,CH men and Sauvage should be in the list for his impact in market and popularity
Jovi Romero In my opinion none of the fragrances you mentioned ( except of Le Male ) had as much impact as the others in this list
In ten years people will look back at one million just like we look at drakkar, kouros, anteus and le male now.
Le male may able to be on the list, others are so far away to be a legend.
Ashton great list! I would add CK One, I used to bathe on that stuff. And that Fahrenheit, so many memories from my dad.
I wanted to include CK One. I may actually do a follow up with some omissions that I wanted to include.
This is an epic frag video. Great stuff, Ashton.
Great list. Mine has some differences. I would include Le Male and Amen. Huge impact too.
...and I really new that Drakkar Noir was coming!!!
i have three perfumes on this list, but my favourite is still Versace pour homme, its clean, fresh and very wearable to me...:) btw, nice video :)
Great list, i expected Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum 2012 to be here but that's just my taste.
Great one
Those are definite classics...I definitely like Polo Green (10)....Hey!.....I didn't know that my current bottle was a classic.....Next to 1....Yep I agree completely with Bleu de Chanel....Just recently I decided to find another signature scent instead of Bleu....This time it's not as easy as before. OK thanks Ashton for another awesome video....I assume your neck pain is better?
Great list bro, lots of awesome history here!
Great video!! Thanks!
Epic ! Fantastic choices..
Really good explanation of your choices
This was the best list I've seen in the last 3 years. Chanel is my #1 as well. I like Aqua di Gio too but don't have that one. I've smelled it for years on other people and in the stores. I will probably look to pick that one up some time. For now, my top are Chanel's Bleu, YSL's LNdL, and Dior's Sauvage EDP/EDT (I have both and can't decide which I like better so I just bought both and layer them sometimes...sue me).
TheChosenOne I want to buy 3 best perfumes if you can guide me.. I have Dior savage edt only
@@deanjones4392 man.
Great video, and really good choices. I was waiting for Le Male at number one, because it's where it belongs. Kind regards
Great video man, loving the content and the subjects you been putting out, you have one of those channels where you can just watch the videos from beginning to end and never get bored, p.s when that glass broke I kinda cringed and froze, it felt like I dropped my own bottle lol rip
It wasn't my happiest moment, that's for sure.
Totally agree with the list man. Especially the Bdc. Most versatile men perfume ever.better get the edt one.
