  • How To Hold Your Tattoo Machine The RIGHT Way | Tattooing For Beginners
    Throughout my many years of tattooing, I've had the opportunity to witness the growth & progress of many beginner tattoo artists. The one thing i've noticed consistently for anybody that's just starting out tattooing, is the way beginners hold their Tattoo Machine. Now I've seen some people hold their machines in really awkward positions which resulted in them having no control over their machine, and caused some shaky lines.
    In this video, I'm going to show you how to properly hold and grip your machine to improve your stability and control.

    Mind blowing how you just show us these tips & trick for FREE. Some of us don't have the funds to pay for apprenticeship much less an IN-STUDIO session with our local tattoo artists. Times have definitively changed for upcoming artists with videos like these. Thank you, on behalf of everyone, for what YOU do. I'd like this video a million times if I could. ❤ Keep doing you.

    Finally, I can see how it's done now. I've watched 2 of your other line works videos but i feel like it wasn't enough. I didn't know how to hold my machine and I don't know which way should I stretch my client's skin. This video helps alot thanks Brandon, you're a great teacher! 👍

    Hey man I started tattooing a few years back man I really do appreciate your videos. So many ppl keep this like its a damn secret and I get it to some degree. But anyways I appreciate the fact that you take the time to help ppl to learn. I started souly bc I thought it would be easy bc I can draw great....oh how wrong I was the it became the pursuit of overcoming the problems that I encountered. But anyways again. Thank you I know how hard it can be after 13 years of tattoong to answer the questions like how deep to go....lol...keep it up man I watch you even now for you option on things and you've helped me with stupid problems I've had before in the past.

    I use to do UA-cam videos for knifemaking... Look into overhead mounts(attach to ceiling joist), sliders & quick release mounts. I would do 2-3 camera shots, so I always had a good angle. Once I got into tattooing myself, I kinda quit YT(insta/Tiktok are so much faster, shoot-upload). It's been a year & my legs are almost done. Thanks for all the help, hope all is well, take it easy.

I currently use a really weird technique that sorta just felt natural but I noticed it’s nothing like what everyone else does, looks like I’ll need to break the habit sooner rather than later.

    It seems a lot of vets don't want to share their knowledge with new artist, especially this new wave of artist who pick up machines off Amazon with zero respect or knowledge of the tattoo craft or its history. So thank you very much Brandon, I believe you're doing your part for the tattoo community by making sure that new artists are at very least, doing things properly and safely, because if a person wants to tattoo this day in age, they simply will, because everything is readily available for them online. But also thank you for sharing your wisdom and the knowledge you've gained over your years of dedication to the craft. You're giving new tattoo artist a real shot at learning the right way 🙏 all respect man 💯💯 thank you

    I love how you are constantly putting out new videos and showing us how to do things you might have touched on in past videos💯 recommendations we tarnished would like to see more videos about good ink companies and where to get good ink a lot of newbies don’t understand how important it is to use good ink and save that crappy bundle box ink for the fake skin / practice probably has something to do with the fact that those tattoo kits / bundles aren’t specifying that ink is for practice skins not human skin

    I've just finished my HSC exams and I've been interested in tattooing for a long time, I've done art as my main subject and currently waiting for my Cambridge exam results, what should I do to get into tattooing? Should I wait for my results or should I make a portfolio and start going into tattoo studios and apply for an apprenticeship? I need help to start.

    • @Tattooing101
      @Tattooing101  Рік тому

      It's good that you have a background in art, the first thing I would recommend is for you to start drawing tattoo flash designs. Look up some tattoo artists whose style you like and try to start drawing your designs in that manner for practice. You'll quickly find out that drawing for tattoos is a different thing altogether. Once you've practiced enough and feel like you're ready to begin with your own flash designs, start to create a portfolio with all your completed designs. Most tattoo studios will only want to see finished designs and not works in progress.
      Most studios for the first 2 years of your apprenticeship will have you doing menial tasks like working the reception counter, taking down appointments, cleaning the shop, buying supplies, etc. If you feel like you can't wait that long to start actually learning how to tattoo, I recommend you check out our Artist Accelerator Program which is a fully online course that'll teach you everything a traditional apprenticeship would, and more! You can find out more about this here: learn.tattooing101.com/10-day-seminar-salespage
