Hot take the defense will be the hallmark of this team.
I noticed almost every player that Pope has recruited. They all average at least 1 steal per game and 2 assists per game or more. That creates problems for the other teams. Coach Bill Self at Kansas said the problem with coaching against Pope is this. Pope is bringing back the Pitino style that he used when he at UK in 90s except Pope as extremely modified it to today's style of play. That is hard to coach against. He said that right after Kansas lost at home to Pope's BYU team last year. This team will be a run and gun, going after the ball in every time they are on defense. They are going wear teams out one the floor.
I'm pretty weak at Arkansas fans with Calipari saying look you haven't even got a player in the top 100 meanwhile we're sitting on six super seniors with proven records and alot of front line beef with tons of deadly shooters. I really hope they know they're being called nobodies.

Arkansas fans are the most pathetic fan base in America right behind tennessee. Imagine going on UA-cam and trying to brag about you're new coach pretending you hired him away from the top basketball school in America, when you know damn well he left to avoid being fired!!!😂😂 Then going to every top recruit video and running it in the comments like you're somebody now, because you ended up with a former Kentucky coach that they didn't want anymore! 🤡😂😂🤣
If he couldn't do it at kentucky with number one recruitment classes, he's not gonna do it there. Once we get over that hump and get those good recruits, They're gonna realize it wasn't just callipari wjy they we're going to the NBA, it was their talent and kentucky's big stage.
@@indigomarine91 I'm already excited because look at what he did with a bunch of Mormons last year and the toughest conference in the nation. I actually really like the players he went and got proven commodities in the NCAA tournament instead of maximum stars.

I think sec tournament is achievable but it's a lot to ask of a brand new coach to win first year. But I think we'll be one of the best teams so

Bet this team won’t be the best offense and I will go even further to state they won’t finish in the top half of the SEC. This is not 1996 SEC nor college basketball and it amazes me the excitement in regard to a coach hired who has never won a single NCAA Tournament game, nor a conference tournament championship, nor a conference regular season title. It hasn’t been any coach in the modern era who hasn’t had at least some or all of those accomplishments until now. I think the athletic department went after him due to the lack of interest from big name coaches specifically on figuring it would go over well simply based on him being a former player. Well folks a press conference has never won a single game in the history of basketball. The athletes in today’s SEC are built different than the days of old.

Imagine if our top two draft pics hadn’t came off the bench and actually started. Kentucky will be good this year cause we actually have a coach, someone that actually bleeds blue unlike all the bandwagon fans that calipari knocked up during his tenure here. I liked cal, but the saying on him being a great recruiter and mediocre coach is true, however pipe is great coach and “undetermined “ on recruiting. Cause no matter how you view things Kentucky is and always will be Kentucky, that will always bring recruits in the door.
