You are extremely lucky you have a studio. I have a large table in the corner of my dinning area and an easel. It would heaven to have an actual studio any way that’s just in my dreams. 🥰👍
I am truly blessed. You are so right!
I'm the same, live in a 2 bed 2bath, I use a corner of my living room and ajust my art to fit the space
@@Frank.Citizen Keep dreaming! never give up and it will show up!
Many people don't even use a dining room anymore or very often, my husband suggested I convert our dining room into a studio and just put up curtains to hide it if I need too. I am seriously considering it, many people have spaces they think they should have instead of spaces that they would love.
If you are creating that is all that truly matters
The cleat system is genius! You are so lucky to have a hubby that could make that happen for you 💜
Perfect! I like your laid back approach. So relaxed and healthy and happy! It comes through in your artwork as well. A happy, cheerfulness!
Thank you so much!! I am excited you the you tube journey!
Keep on dreaming. Keep on seeing your studio. It will happen.
I love the space you have. This is a great way to keep organized. The IKEA drawers are the perfect idea for all my acrylic paints and reference papers. I live in an apartment, my boyfriend built me 2 work stations plus I have an easel. But my drawers are small chests of drawers and containers in different places. Love to have everything together.
I totally agree!
My great grandparent's used angled boards, similar to your cleated system, to hang heavy mirrors, etc. Additionally, their 14ft high celings had picture railing several feet below the crown moulding to hang paintings w/o damaging walls.
Your video was both a lovely reminder of traditional solutions, and an inspiration for my renewed artistic callings! Keep creating!
So clever!
I am green/gold with envy, Julia but really, you deserve this wonderful space. As you have shown, it's not so much how much space you have but how you organize it. Good job!
Love that comment! Green Gold with envy!
Love Love Love!!!!! The French cleat system is genius! I am 56 years old and just finding my love for art but live in a very very tiny little space show every single inch of my house has paint on it never mind my non existent studio. Thank you for sharing!❤
You are so welcome!
Green gold is one of my favourites too. One of the best ways to mix warm greens!
It really is!
Yay thank you inspiring - clear and concise. Looking forward to more!
More to come!
I love this!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fabulous!!!!
Thank you for the tour. Lucky you!
Thanks for watching!
Looking forward to following your UA-cam journey - loved to tour
Julia, thank you so much for sharing your studio. It's actually very clean and organized compared to most other studios.
I love the natural light you have incoming. Awesome!
It’s my happy place!
@@juliaveenstraartist i can see why. Ha, ha.
Awesome studio. Thanks for sharing. Love your work.
Thanks so much!
I remember when you started it! it turned out so nice!
Awesome to see such an established artist use such a simplified space... makes it accessible. Really makes me think, I can do this too! I don't have cleats or a dedicated building, but I do have the basics and that's really all you need to get started. Thanks for sharing!
Yes! Paint where you are!!
Your slats and wedges on the wall is brilliant!!!
Aren’t they?
No such thing as an art studio being a mess! If it was clean and organized it wouldn’t be a true working studio. I absolutely love my messy studio!
I totally agree!
Picasso, looking at Kandinsky’s small, extremely neat workspace: “ That’s not a studio, that’s a laboratory!”
@@charleholst3881great things happen in laboratories!
Love your studio - tons of light and that wall cleat system is awesome!! First I saw that industrial sized tube roller, have to get one of those!! Thanks for the tour❣️
Glad you enjoyed it!
having been a General contractor, I was going to build a separate
room for an art studio. Cost became a factor with a 12x 16 costing $8 to $10,000 so I am walling off part of the garage and making a small 14’ x22’ separate room in the garage. There is always trade offs in life!
Absolutely. You can make that perfect!
Ooo! I love your art!!🩵💙💜😎
I love your art studio. Wish I had one. Also your paintings are delightful. It has encouraged me to get on with some art work. Thank you Julia.
You can do it! Just do it!
I’m so looking forward to your channel! Your studio is absolutely perfect. Subscribed ❤
That was fun. Thank you! Can’t wait for the square foot show! I’ve bid on your things a few times and keep losing. Fingers crossed I get that triptych from your last video! Love it!
I would be so honoured if you do!!
So functional., thanks for sharing
My pleasure 😊
That was fantastic. Thank you.
You're very welcome!
I just happened upon your channel (thank you UA-cam for suggesting it), now I have to binge watch all your videos so I can catch up. Your video library is so colorful and fun. See you at the beginning. 😊🌌😊
Hope you enjoy!
Love your studio, Julia! You are so organized! Need to clean my studio! ☺️ Thanks for sharing!
Sort of organized! It can break down fast!
Currently working on my dining room table its so frustrating!!!! Oh to have this space...you are so blessed ❤
I think I am too. Thank you!
Happy to find you! Your style of painting is my favorite. What a beautiful studio! I wish I could paint like you do, hopefully watching some of your videos will help me get there. Looking forward to seeing everything you do.
I really appreciate that!
nice shoes! Great tour, nice to see what you paint with, etc.,
I am glad you liked the shoes!
I had to laugh! I have that same six drawer unit, and my drawers get stuck too. I also have managed to get paint everywhere despite trying to contain it. I'm now at the point where i just don't worry about it anymore. I figure it's just ambiance. ❤
Absolutely. And I no longer think that I will have to repaint for a show. It’s a studio!
Your studio is amazing! Just found you yesterday and already I’m learning so many great ideas from you!!
Awesome! Thank you!

Thanks so much for doing this. I also love UA-cam for learning. Would like to see the heater and air conditioner unit and know the name and manufacturer. I have been wanting to move my studio out to another space and we would definitely need a heater.
I started painting when I was 14. For many years, my “studio” was a shoebox where I kept everything. When I was 40, we had a house fire, and the rebuilding process allowed us to finish part of the attic, and for the first time I got an easel. That easel was my red sports car.
What a journey! We had a fire once too.
@@juliaveenstraartist Now, whenever I start a new painting, I have the same song playing on the stereo…Talking Heads, Burning Down The House.
Thanks ❤
😍✨🎨💖👋🏻👍🏻🥰
Hi Julia! I'm scrolling through UA-cam and, lo and behold, I find you!
Here I am!
Love your studio!
Would you mind sharing some of the other you tube content you watch for inspiration?
Nice. Could you please inform more about your canvas on the wall "cleap" system ?
I am trying to convince the hubby to put this up in my studio so I can use it to hang my favorite paintings and for items I want to list for sale during an open studio event.
That's a great idea!
OMG/G!!!!!! Pleeeezzze share what model of the IKEA drawer systems in your studio!!!!! I've been looking (and wishing) for some white tall drawer-cabinet systems that can be used in my studio as "flat files" instead of the traditional metal flat files.
Luv your studio. The size - 11'x20' is good for a building that was already on your property and you have a sink!
Also what I've have done in my studios in space I've rented is to put down cheap linoleum flooring over the wood, tile and carpeted floors then put down throw away rugs, canvas or vinyl tarps...
Oh you luckey woman/artist I would love to have such a separate space/studio ❤ and, if I could I would like to have a separat workshop as well...😅 but, unluckely, I am a renter and does not have such space nor possibilities 😢
Hello, I enjoyed the tour of your studio! Your paintings are beautiful!! And + 1 sub !! 🎨❤️
Thank you so much!
Good Morning, you just appeared in my feed this morning. Great ideas to glean from. I have always adored the French Cleat system but never considered using them as an easel. I look forward to watching your videos and learning from your talent. How did you publish your books? I write poetry but don't know how to publish, so if you have a video on that, I would love to watch it.
That’s a great idea!
Very nice studio with beautiful light and vertical spaciousness!
What are your lower cabinets of drawers? You mentioned Ikea, did you get them ftom ikea? Thanks! 😃
Yes they are IKEA!
❤
Thanks for the tour! Love the cleat system. And I was wondering….Where do you keep your canvases? I have stacks of blank canvases on hand. And stacks that I want to paint over. You mentioned your garage do you keep items stored in there also?
I paint them red in the garage and I store them in a hallway. The finished ones go to galleries!
Please share the colors you chose for your flower painting other than black and white. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing! Great video and an inspiration! Where do you store your finished pieces....beyond those 12x12's.
In galleries across the country! 😂
And homes of clients!
Great studio! I'm getting ready to build a cleat wall, too. Since you've been using yours for some time now, do you wish you had any lower rails? I'm trying to decide how low the lowest rail should be. Thanks for the tour!
No I find it quite perfect!
@@juliaveenstraartist Thanks you!
Where do you keep all the larger pieces you are working on?
Beautiful! Wish i had a dedicated studio, but have to make do in my living room and a storage room upstairs. you didn't show where you keep canvasses-do you stretch your own or buy them?
Hello! I store them in various galleries across the country. Lol. I do but then ready to paint.
Jeez, < you think that is a messy studio? Hahahaha😂 you should see mine!!!
Great studio! Where did you get those deep drawers with the gold handles? Wevome to UA-cam! Danielle
@@daniellebielenstein5356 from IKEA!!
My thoughts are if my Studio isn’t a mess, I’m not painting enough😂
I’m stuck in a tiny bedroom about 8x9 feet, no closet.
Loved your studio. May i ask how large is it. Dimensions?
@@parulairenart oh it’s not very big! 11 by 20. But I love it too!!
What printer do you use to print out your reference photos with
Just a basic hp
How are the cleets attached to your canvases? where can I buy the cleets? Thank you!😊
My husband made them. You can Google how!
Where do you keep all of your canvases blank and painted?
In my house in a hall!
Yes please how do YOUdo the use reference photos
Oh and your table is gorgeous!!!!
This is an interesting question!
Why do you paint on red?
Gets rid of the scary white and received my colours so well!
You think “that’s” a mess?😳
lol. I am a neat freak.
Adopt, not steal 😊
😳terribly messy 🤦🏼♀️ I couldn't feel comfortable painting with everything full of paint and spots. The drawers' content all so messy and unorganized. Ever heard about big folders to keep things organized? Small things in smallers boxes would be better
Good to know!
Please stop apologizing for paint being around your painting studio. L O L.
Okay I will stop!!
❤
