Don't mess with your opponent's opening prep, especially if your opponent remembers it.
The second game is an amazing position after he traded the wueen for 3 pieces. I just knew he would win after that
In a blitz game I would take three secure pieces over a queen anytime.

The second game was very interesting. I was hoping you go for three pieces for your queen and you are a brave man Eric, you did it!
I did it like 4 times on my 500elo chess area - it was amazing. I felt like a smurf, cause there were no longer book theory fighters that remember every move untill midgame. All of a sudden everybody plays like a chicken

I don’t know if you noticed but you could have won your first game if you look on move 30 when he moved Ka2 you could have taken with rook which then would have been checkmate cause your bishop was watching B1 and queen was guarding rook
Edit: nvm I just studied your board pawn on b2 would have taken Ra3

I don't know why you consider it "dirty" to win by flagging. Isn't that the idea of playing with a clock? In any case, it's amazing to watch your play in time scrambles! Love your channel.
I can understand if you are in a completely winning position and your opponent flags you.

4. a3 is a rather uncommon move here! Most develop their bishop.

What does it take for Eric to get to GM?
Newbie question. At 8:02, why would white knight not go F7 but instead Bishop F7
going for the rook/exchange in such a wild position is not recommendable. white has to exploit black weak king asap

at 5:51 should white not just move their king after the check and leave the bishop. Then Eric has to move his queen and can't defend the bishop and the rook which are both attacked?

Perhaps because Qe7+ is possible. Which would buy you a second move for Rg8.

5:28 ok am I the only person that just now found out this is legal?!
It is legal because he is blocking the opponent's check by putting the rook between the queen and the king (while checking the opponent with a bishop at the same time, which mean that the opponent will not be able to move its queen and you will be able to capture it). The only rule is "you cannot end your turn in a position where your king is under check", but any move is legal (except castle) as long as you break opponent's check.
Very inspired! Even without that bishop move, 3 minor pieces for a queen is legit!
