When teams like Haas and Williams do well it’s a win for everyone watching. When Kmag got pole it was amazing, everyone was cheering, it felt pure…. Like a kid opening a present on Christmas
Oh yes, laterally everyone, I even saw some hardcore HAAS haters cheering, I am a relatively new fan and that was the first time I saw EVERYONE collectively genuinely happy for the exact same thing. It was glorious.
And the first year of the latest rule change Kmag had some pretty good results. It just goes to show you how good their team really is. They simply lack the resources and funding the top teams have had for decades. Hopefully this cost cap will help things become more competitive. Parity is very important. Good for Max and Redbull but it's no fun knowing who is going to win almost every race.
Let's not forget they are on F1, just being there is an achievement itself. Everyone on the track has a chance, be it by talent, technology, effort or just pure luck. Massive respect for both winners and the ones who don't finish. ❤
I hope with all my heart that Max will drive his last seasons for a team like Williams. He's a pure driver, now he's fully focused on winning everything, but surely that will wear out gradually. I would love to see him trying to fight that team up the constructors list. Perhaps unsuccessful, but I assume the team would benefit... I'd love to see them do better...they're legends.
Something like this would be awesome but given max’s comments about retiring when he no longer has a winning car makes me think we won’t see anything of this nature
Max isnt driving against other drivers, he is driving against the clock, all the time. Thats why he isnt slowing down after winning the season for himself and for Redbull. He wants get the car into its best condition and drive it at its best.
Gasly's 1st place at Monza'20, KMag's Pole at Interlagos'22 means much more than championships of top teams. It gives hope for everybody that is worth it to fight till the end no matter where are you in race position.
F1 is inherently a business, and so is running an F1 team. People don't throw away dozens of millions and millions of pounds for "the spirit of the sport", they do so because it makes financial sense in one way or another, whether financial incentive through a different revenue stream other than the constructors prize pool, or because there is inherent value to be obtained from running in F1 despite still losing. I'm no business or economics major here, but I feel like it's pretty silly that you missed that major point completely, instead rambling on and on about "passion" and other points basically relating to passion. Just my two cents on this so maybe this could be a lesson, a learning, for future videos. I really wished you talked about the economic side of this.
Money was intentionally missed as it goes without saying in major tournaments. In Football, teams dream of winning the champions league. However players and owners may have different reasons for wanting to win it. I totally understand your point though and thank you for your feedback & for watching!
It's good you explain this. It's important to know that Haas, for isntance, isn't a bad team. Actually they are really good.To stay for as logn as they have, is very respectable!
Williams is up there with Ferrari and McLaren as one of the sports most historical teams. They should always be there. F1 should make sure they are always there
It really sucks what is happened to Williams, they were an amazing team back in the day, I wasn't a big fans of them, but I always respected them, I hope they find themselves again, and compete to the highest level like they used to! Well put video my friend, great work! Sub'd!
I mean Williams has a chance with Albon. For the Mexico GP he was like 2nd fastest in the practices. Just didn’t qualify well. Granted practice is different than the actual race.
@Formula-Drive The improvement at Williams has been tangible since James Vowles joined. He said he was shocked at some of the ways Williams worked, saying other teams had moved on 20+ years ago. Particularly in the way their project management is handled, it's simply outdated. Williams might never win another championship, but they seem to be on the right track with James there. Their improvements are also less visible than they should be since it's basically just Albon showing up every weekend.
Ive been a Williams fan since the early 90's. Remember, majority, if not all of the engineers from their glory days are gone. Under Dorilton, they made the biggest mistake by not taking Honda engines when Honda was giving them away for free. A Williams Honda partnership would have ensured their financial success.
Pretty interesting debate for what at first glance seemed like a pretty straight forward question. When You put a lot of money into something your not just gonna walk away
I wondered about that myself as living in the US with an interest in NASCAR racing; whereupon someone did an answer for me many years ago: In the case of drivers that are field-fillers, it is with the money they can earn in a season, as it may pay better than in other lines of work. Prior to the economic downturn with NASCAR, a back-marker driver could earn from $75K ~ $100K [US] in a season, which pays better than being a tire-changer for a retailer that sells tires. But nowadays, NASCAR drivers don't make the big monies like they did 20 years ago. When it comes to back-marker racing teams, part of it could be ego that motivates them . . . somewhat like a person that wants to own and operate a restaurant . . . the person has a desire to run their own business and may have a talent to operate the business. As long as the income is better than the expenses, it is a way to make a living. Then, in cases where tax structures comes into play, a race team with higher expenses than income could still be profitable from the tax breaks they may receive when operating at a loss.
Nah you look at it from one angle only. Some drivers pour their money into it to be able to drive like living their dream, some people use it as money laundering, some factory teams are boosting their sales so it's a marketing campaign... lot of reasons why pour money into motorsport without a return
@@rockets4kids not in all cases read again. Saying that teams like Haas and Williams finish last round and round is not entirely true. The nature of not giving points to the 10 last cars, it does not matter if the finish 11 every now and then. The result will look the same, and it's a shame for the sport
But I seriously wish they changed the point system so everything has something to salvage. Someone in 20th position will not fight for places if there are no points up until the 10th position

In every sports, back bracket team is like a nursery for new comer. With out these team there will be no dynamic in the sports. There will be only complete dominance of big team.
How much of a loss are lesser teams making. How much would lesser teams have to spend for same exposure elsewhere. Who can afford to be in F1 if the owners didn't know how to make money. What's sport got to do with anyone who makes those financial decision's. Just look at football and they give us the same crap selling history and greatness, that we should feel privileged to be paying through the nose for.
If winning isn't everything to you as a racer. You shouldn't be racing. Racing is a "competition". The reason to "compete" is to beat the other competitors. If your not racing for that reason you're just "participating", not competing. But I guess you always have to have field fillers. All though it seems F1 teams don't want another one(Andretti).
I honestly feel like the lack of real consequences for finishing bottom consistently are bad for the sport overall. Even finishing last provides a big enough pay out that may not incentivise a team to do better. There should be some kind of relegation system so that bottom teams are encouraged to race even harder. Wed also see more interesting battles this way i feel
They need to change the format. Instead of everyone races sunday... qualify everyone on Friday. Top 10 in on sunday... bottom 10 race on saturday. Top 2 on saturday, get to race on Sunday seeded 6 and 7.
