Great tip. Thats something i learned in basic training. Also if you have to put your pack down and it might rain we would cover the pack with the Pancho tucking it in underneath. Even tho you have most things in a waterproof bag inside the pack. Nothing sucks more then your stuff being wet. And you being cold.
Blackie , Great Video and Outstanding Information Thanks For Sharing Your Knowledge and Time and passing on the craft. You Are The Master Woodsman and Buschcrafter , Great Tip. Tim L.
I have miles under those ALICE packs. The medium MOLLE II ruck sack is my absolute favorite of all time. For whatever reason the CIF do not request it from me and I was free and clear. Still use it to this day. Good video.
Well Blackie. I thank you for being you and helping me and others who are willing to watch and learn. Thanks again and much love sent to you and everyone else who's part of our community.
Awesome tip Blackie, thanks! I'll start putting my poncho there. It will free up the outside center pocket of my Alice where I had kept it and now I have room for other things. Really appreciate this series and am glad there is more to come. 👍
Even though I am fond of the cooking presentations and have thought those were the best yet , the ground pounder series is quickly becoming a big favorite too! Especially when tips involving the medium Alice pack and frame are highlighted. I've tried many packs over the years and still have a good old Alice and the scout canvas bucket pack . Old as dirt but they work on my large framed back.
This works great. Did a hike through this weekend with a cabellas transporter pack and it poured. Lucky I had my poncho ready and stayed completely dry all 3 hours
Blackie ...please explain how you got the sternum strap on your A.l.I.C. E pack I have a large one and always wanted to add a sternum strap but never new how
I usually carry a waxed tarp the size of a beach towel back there (folds to the size of a paperback). The idea is nothing other than my boots ever needs to touch wet ground. A poncho is just at home right there, no need to take your pack off and put it right back on in the name of sheltering it.
Thanks for sharing. Great tip. You don't even need to stop walking to do all that. Unless you're with others who aren't prepared then you gotta wait. You should have fallen over after one of those shots. Lol
Love these quick tips, Thank You Blackie. Been watching for years now. p.s. Are you willing to do product reviews from your viewers if we are willing to donate products to you? Nothin big, just a grassroots Etsy Seller. lol
I've watched most all your videos and I like them but the one thing I never see you do is over nighters , just wondering why. Please don't think I'm trying to be an a$$ just wondering .

I laced a camel back between my alice and frame, perfet spot for one. The condor padded belts are nice to lay the alice waist belts in as well.
This is why I subscribe to your channel !

Good tip. i don't mind a bit if you break your tips into many smaller videos. Easy for my aged mind to retain.
