I just bought a Tactical Tailor low profile shoulder strap set. It has extra back padding and thick wide shoulder straps. It takes ALICE to a whole new level super comfy
I have a MOLLE rucksack issued and that belt sucks personally. Tactical Taylor has a better belt that for an AlIce bag. Stitching or attaching a sternum strap helps a lot. Packing it correctly and high on your back helps even more. I still use my Alice pack for ruck marches and that’s all I’ve done to make it more comfortable
Nice addition with the snaps! Helped me with some of my own solutions. The LC2 straps are like the first to go, replace with either the enhanced issue or aftermarket Blackhawk, Eagle, Spec ops, Tactical Taylor etc with sternum straps Also, for the large Alice pack, 2 long cinch straps run all around are useful too. Look for easter eggs, as there are some with the ALICE system :)
Great advice. I love my Alice Pack. Its the "worst best" rucksack I have. Its not ideal for anything, but it does a good job of everything (if that makes sense). Whilst I wouldnt want to do a long distance mountain hike with it, I know that it will literally take any load because of its cavernous main pocket, and frame. Plus you can remove the frame and straps and literally carry boxes with it like a porter on Mount Everest. Its the ultimate versatile ruck. I will definitely consider your strap mods. I think thats an excellent idea.
You do not have to open the straps in order to fit the nylon fastex type fasteners. ITW and Condor (and probably several others) supply buckle repair kits that have a gap in the part of the buckle that the loop passes over so you can simply slip them into the webbing loop, OK sometimes you need a pair of pliers to assist but its totally doable. In fact I have created my own with side cutters out of the normal fastex buckles.
Patrick. If you have a large an easy mod is this. British PLCE 10 lt Rocket pouches. Big pouch zips on. There is enough real estate on the side to put zips on to hold them. Look up Karimore SF online. Look at how they put a strap over through rocket pouches. Youll also see some pouch options they have that are way ti expensive, but easy idea to borrow and sew yourself. Look at the pouch that also has bladder storage to.
I made handles using paracord and the same sort of loop style people use for bracelets. Since I used 1100 paracord I had laying around, it gave me about 12' of cord if I need it. I often paracord when I gather firewood since I tend to have to drag it up overhangs. Just a suggestion.
Where did you find a padded hip belt like that I've been looking on all different websites I cant find anything also do you know where i would get better shoulder straps?
@@iannesby i'm so buzzing about my ALICE and frame, i have struggled with load carrying over the years due to having operations on my abdomen, this bag has literally changed everything.

Great job Ian!
Ya got some excellent sewing skills! That's very valuable -- good on ya! ☺👍🏼
Thanks for the support
The back pads is a nice update... I'll see how to make the same for my small Alice

OV Innovations has a set ready to go also.
ITW is the way to go, top quality.
Nice job ! Like your DIY skils...greetings from the Netherlands
Thanks man
Product links or product numbers would be awesome. Love the kidney pads!
I just found that pad at a surplus ship. The rest I already had laying around or made
Flex seal the lid of the top and the pouches. Your poncho will do the rest in a heavy rain. 🍻
Gotta love random shit
GREAT VIDEO, THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR MODS
I may need to do an update video. Nothing has failed, it's just 3 years later and I'm still using the bag
@@iannesby an update would be awesome
Love these videos man. The rifle sling videos were dope
Thanks man
Good stuff buddy, I like your Mods 👍🏻🇦🇺
If you wanted to take a sheep with you every where you go, I'm betting it would have preferred to walk than be carried.
Great I’ll just gut a sheep and put 70 pounds of gear in it😊
Hi ! I live in france and i got a question.
Where should i buy this ? I mean to beneficy of the lowest price and better quality ?
I'm unsure of what the market is in France. The price of these bags in the US is almost to the point of buying newer gear is cheaper and practical.
Would you think to add anymore Molle webbing to ruck? I've been thinking of adding more to my Large ALICE. Just for more options...
No. because if I need more shit I just grab my molle ruck. This alice is like a medium backpack to me.

You're welcome
I did the waist belt mod as well as using the shoulder pads. I gotta do the handle mod.
you using the molle shoulders?
@@iannesby I am. It was easy enough to attach them. The waist belt makes the biggest difference if you use it, all the weight sits on you hips.

Amazon. Us army Molded waist belt. Cost about $4
Shoulder straps I'm using are surplus alice I got from The Dropzone in georgia. But many companies make nicer ones. I'm happy with the normal ones
@@iannesby there is a mod I've been looking at you should check it out you can flex seal the inside of the bag to waterproof it
@@thegardenguy9160 a rain cover is about the same weight and covers the whole bag
What’s up Ian, when you coming back to Texas? Giovanni misses you.
Im not sure. My life is very busy right now
I just made my carry handle out of ducktape.
I ALSO USE MY ALICE TO SHOP AT ALDI :D
@@hamsticklehq no way that bag is ever ripping. Even filled to the brim with the $3 a bottle wines
