Hey folks... thanks for all the great comments and feedback. It makes it all worth while... plenty more to come, 5 more instalments with the final one being a bit of an epic looking at images around the rail works! Got to love Swindon!

Thanks for this, Paul. I remember Swindon Cable fondly; also my Tshirt which said on the front : I can see something you can't see.........and on the back : SWINDON CABLE TELEVISION. I wore it till it literally wore out. I live in AU now, and love to see old or new pics of what will always be home.

This is great I love to see pictures of Swindon from the past and I love the pizza hut in West Swindon always have and always will I haven't been there since the 15th of July 2008 I wonder if they will ever redevelop the County Ground I don't think they will build a new stadium on another site fans wouldn't like that also I have no idea why they changed the writing where it says home to swindon town football club it was better when the writing was all in block capitals

Not only Swindon Council the Big Money men let this wonderful building is known to us as The Mechanics and we true Swindonians have also let this magnificent building down big time, and what happened to all the money that was collected by donations from Swindon people including my donation of £20 to help save The Mechanics no doubt someone's back pocket this is more aimed at Swindon Council and it's Councilors past and present and money men because the decent folk of Swindon is not listened to never have been never will be, Councilors don't lose out I remember one occasion when I was a Swindon Bus Driver taking a lot of Councilors and hangers' on touring Swindon looking for green spaces to build on I have never heard so much crap being spoken in my life this took a while to do this when we arrived back at Euclid street they all went into the Council Offices for tea and stickies the guy who had most to say all the journey said please come in and have some tea and stickies that's my words lol when I went in with him I never saw so much food in all my life and I thought to myself I bet Swindon people are paying for this no wonder the fight to become a Councilor lol just a few words on the Mechinics if you are not going to save this great building pull it down put it out of it's misery then maybe Mr Isambard Kingdom Brunel can then lay to rest at last for many years he as been turning in his grave at the sight of the building deterioating in front of his eyes and ours and it's one of the first sights that greet folks who are visiting Swindon for the first time what must they think God only knows but we do

Global Entity music & Tekfusion studios are based in Swindon, England, Wiltshire. UK. My music project predominately electronic, Any way ask anyone in Great Britain what County is the most mystical , haunting, superstitious, magical, weird and unseen, the answer will most likely be Wiltshire. Avebury stone circle and the list goes on. A lot a people will say Ooh Aah the Wiltshire farmer and his accent, hence the name Pig or Swine (old French or Anglo Saxon) and so the name 'Swindon' or Swineland was founded. KJ : I was on a day out in Caln (not Genghis or Kublai) and visited the art history section and Caln was a massive Pig factory history called Harris. The Information attendant said 'Swindon No it was not' but name after a Viking - The secret hidden history of Britain. KJ how did the Vikings get to Normandy. In reality 1066 could also be known as the Norman/Viking invasion. Anyway the name 'Swindon' could that have been King Swen Forbeard or another Sven.

It is inevitable that things change, and that buildings and whole industries fall into decline . Swindon, unfortunately seems to retain too loose a grip on the past, and thus the character of the town seems to melt into a sort of amorphous mediocrity.
