- Belinda Fettke is a former Registered Nurse, photographer and the proud co-founder of 'Nutrition For Life' in Launceston which provides medically based nutritional care around Tasmania and Australia.
Belinda is also a staunch supporter of the health benefits of Low Carb, Healthy Fat eating and in recent years has taken a more central role in advocating LCHF following the investigation of her husband, Dr. Gary Fettke, by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). The investigation focused on Gary’s qualifications to give nutritional advice.
This investigation (which lasted for more than two years) resulted in Gary being issued a ‘caution’ and being advised; ”In particular, that he does not provide specific advice or recommendations on the subject of nutrition and how it relates to the management of diabetes or the treatment and/or prevention of cancer.” Gary was later cleared of all charges and issued a formal apology from AHPRA.

Belinda and Gary are heroes here in Australia. It’s shameful and disgusting what Gary suffered as an Australian surgeon trying to help his patients suffer less by just reducing their carbs. He was crucified for way too many years. Now everyone is pushing this Whole Food Plant Based way of eating as if anyone who doesn’t follow this should be thrown out of the tribe, just like those who refused the Covid vaccinations.
Not everyone is pushing a plant based diet - far from it. The keto/carnivore community is growing quickly in my experience

It is true that many dedicated vegans approach their diet with a cultlike reverence. But it is also true among many people who eat a variety of different diets, from low fat high carb to a standard American diet comprised mostly of ultraprocessed junk food and fast food. I have been gluten free for many years due to the fact that I have an inflammatory reaction to wheat. I have also been told many times by strangers on the internet that celiac/gluten intolerance/wheat allergies etc. are not a thing and I need to eat foods that are clearly hurting me because trust me bro. That shopping around the perimeter of a supermarket to buy whole, natural foods and preparing them myself at home is somehow unAmerican. I call this dietary tribalism. This is especially common in the US because of centuries of the government working for the benefit of manufacturers to convince people that processed foods are the sensible thing to buy and eat.
As a person who had arthritis-like pain for decades before getting off the corporate hamsterwheel, finding out the foods I should not eat, and now living pain-free, I believe that most of the "arthritis" people suffer from is caused by food sensitivities, and that the reason elderly people who would not consider this possibility often eat restricted diets is because unconsciously they have given up foods that were causing them issues.
I only eat a natural human diet, i.e. no ultra-processed pseudo-'foods'. My eating régime is: high-(animal)-fat; medium-protein; low-carbohydrate; no-sugar. By eating fatty meat, fish, eggs and cheese I am thriving. I have lost 30kg in excess weight (gained when listening to the imbeciles who advocated a "balanced" diet!). I am physically stronger and mentally sharper. No 'brain fog', no pains and I sleep like a log. We are what we eat. Eat meat: remain a fit and strong apex predator (in the manner we evolved). Munch on vegetation: become a vegetable.
