Ashley - I just loves your narration, that is one thing I'm working on for our channel. Haven't been to Key West since I was a little kid. Southern Most Point is a must. This hotel looks so nice. I just wish they added the resort fee to their regular fee. Your husband is hilarious - I love scaring my wife also. At least it is not $55 in NY or Chicago.
Gah... ya... it was a little crazy. We learned pretty much every resort had multiple fees...fees drive me nuts lol. I'll take the palm trees and the blue water any day. I always forget to use Groupon!!! Such great deals. This resort looks pretty epic. It's like 50 degrees right now in IL so pretty jealous how hot it is over there. Nate is a machine with working out when you guys travel. That view from your balcony is amazing. That FL downpours are nuts (and also how short they are).
Thank you guys! Lol... he always has to 'test' the machines haha.... now if we can just get into the gym more often lol 😆 Oh ya... the wonderful weather of Florida, Ill take the down poor vs the cold everyday!

Right.. the grounds at this place was seriously beautiful... if only it could have been the same when we were in our room! I appreciate that! Just got back from Casa Key West.
The resort was immaculate. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful.
Thanks for your comment! I know they did a few renovations, like the new restaurant outback, & the rooms on the bottom floor were done as well. I hope they do the same for the upper rooms too 🙌

The reviews I read on Yelp and trip advisor many people complained about roaches. It's a common problem at that resort
It's why I took my business elsewhere to the Marriott beach side.

WOW, those extra costs are crazy. Beautiful place and the view from your room is breathtaking. You would think in such a well known resort they would be on top of the pest control, so it was a shame to see the cockroach there. The bay looked fantastic and the entertainment great. We love your channel as it is so very honest and true and that is what we really want to see in a travel channel. Great stuff. ONE LOVE

Beautiful resort! We have a Waldorf Astoria in Park City that is beautiful too, we stayed on a Groupon deal! Bummer that the spa was closed! What a view from your room! Yuck, cockroach, what did you do with it? Lovely sunset!
Groupon is the best...when they have the deals, they seem like they are always a little better in price! Oh nice! We were just passing thru Uintah and headed up to Washington last week...cant believe the leaves are already turning colors...so pretty! We love Utah!! Ya... he was nasty! YAY KEY WEST!!! and OMG!!! WALDORF ASTORIA RESORT!!?!!?!?!?! Love your room tour and your energy! It is so nice to see some people taking the pandemic seriously! OMG! the hidden fees! I wrote an article about that. I think they should drop it because it's so ridiculous. $ 30 a day for parking which is also interesting. I love how you are able to tie in everything together! We really want to be better about this voiceover thing because we are not very comfortable with it like you guys!
Fitness Center is across the street!?!? That is so weird, but the gym is quite huge! YAY suite upgrade!?!?!? Graphics are awesome by the way. Love the little balcony with the nice view! Bathroom amenities look really nice too! Just waiting for why you won't go back!?!?! OMGGGGGG COCKROACH!!!! IN THE BEDROOM!?!?! We would never go back after that. Thanks for sharing you guys! We have never been to key west, but if we were to ever go, you would be our GO TO experts

Ya... the additional charge per day for parking...pretty steep in my opinion and on top of the higher amount to stay per night 🤔 Ill tell you the secret about my voice over... i literally record in my closet with the door closed, works like a charm! I tend to avoid any place that has all the extra fees for parking and add on fees. The Southernmost Point Guest House is an older victorian inn with lots of charm and only about 100 feet from the Southernmost Buoy. When in Marathon look for the Reef Resort they have that old Florida Keys charm and no extra fees for parking or docking.

Love your honest review of the hotel. Funny when you first showed the bathroom no said wow that's small. Lol. You shortly later say it was small. But the cockroach is a huge deal breaker. Totally not cool at all. The Key West is on my bucket list now!!!!!

Very nice footage there guys. I wish I could go on Vacation. Hard to do with Covid around. That resort looks ok to me. :). The Gym looked as big as the Gym we had on a Cruise liner a few years ago. LOL do the BUGS come Standard in the PRICE?

Now thats how to do a review of a hotel. Honest and entertaining. That huge cockroach probably would have done it for me too. Beautiful area though. $45 dollar resort fee and $27 for parking, I assume both fees are per day seems pretty high. Great info though and no sugar coating it. Well done. I feel like its kind of a one or two time visit, but its a cute little area with lots of food, drinks, and excursions. Our favorite Key (personally) is Islamorada. You guys definitely need to make a trip down South and check out the Keys!

20+year pest control guy here - what you saw was a Palmetto bug - while a member of the cockroach family, they are outdoor bugs that get in by accident. No different than a cricket. Very common in Florida
Ya.. I totally understand, we live in Orlando and see all the critters, but we manage to keep them out as well. I guess when you pay a decent amount to stay in, what is supposed to be a really nice resort, and you have Palmetto bugs/ cock roaches on the 3rd floor, out of the air duct...its pretty gross, and you expect not to see that. We just wanted to be transparent with people who are considering staying here for longer than one night and are traveling from further away. Sadly, I don't think it was by accident... I think because the building is super old, somewhere they have found a way in 😵😬 I have to ask, what are the normal procedures for hotels and getting treatments done for bugs and what not? @@AdventureEncounters Although exterior treatment of the property can help, Palmetto bugs are capable of short distance flight. One way to keep them at bay is to use minimal lighting near doorways and balconies at night time, or use specific bulbs that do not attract insects. On an older building, making sure that all doors have door sweeps and that window seal tightly also helps a great deal.
I see! They didnt have any of that from what I remember 😔... we were just thrown off a bit unfortunately.

Awesome vid, I'll be staying at Barbary Beach House in June right by Smathers Beach. I'm hoping its a nice beach are. The videos look pretty nice. The hotel is quite expensive though but its for my ladies Bday so oh well lol.
Thank you! Oh awesome!! You guys will love Key West and what a great way to celebrate her birthday!! Tell her happy early birthday from the Adventure Encounters! Be sure to take comfy walking shoes when you go out and about... so much to see and your feet will thank you! Ya, Casa Marina was a little bit of a let down and yes... a bit spendy. The grounds were absolutely beautiful but the rooms were super dated and it didn't 'feel' clean (hence the roach). I have never hear of the Barbary Beach House! You will have to let us know what you think! When are you going? Appreciate you stopping by! Hope we see you again!

We have stayed at "The Reach" which is next door to Casa Marina. The Reach is ok, a bit overpriced for what it is. Last visit in June, we stayed at "La Concha" Crowne Plaza. Rooms are not very big, but the location is very good. No beach. Also Kimpton took over 4 guesthouses and made them into a single property. They are next on our list.
We were considering the Reach and last minute changed our minds to Casa Marina... wish we would have tried the Reach instead. Ya, Key West is a bit spendy... hence why we don't make it down there as often as Islamorada or the other Keys. Oh nice, where is the Kimpton located? We have heard good review about Kimpton properties and are interested in checking one out. You will have to let us know what you think when you go! Looking forward to seeing you again soon!

@@AdventureEncounters I am too tall to take the plane. With the boat/ferry/catamaran it takes 2.5 hours each way. There's grest snorkling but mostly in the summer when there is no wind. This was my 4th year in a row. My next goal is camping 🏕 there.

For the price of casa marina, I could stay 2 weeks to 1 in a condo right in Truman annex. Depends on preference. I prefer more privacy and a place to cook when I’m there.
Ya, we should have stayed in a condo or vrbo or something..especially after finding the cockroach! Luckily we only stayed one night, but we probably won't go back there. Ya, and we totally agree, having a kitchen when you're staying somewhere for a week , is really nice to have and save some cash on food and drinks! Appreciate you stopping by! The lobby of the hotel was really nice. The fact that the fitness center was across the street is not ideal. The cockroach was so gross! Definitely not staying there, ever! Thanks for your honesty!

Love your creepy music when you showed the bath. I was expecting to see something crazy. Lol. Needed that music for that Cockroach. 🤯😬 Nope! I'd be petrified its family would end up in my bag to go home. We loved the Keys and would love to go back. Great video.

@@AdventureEncounters we loved Marathon. It's a good half way point with so much happening but not as much crowd. Great seafood restaurant with ocean front too. Of course Key West was beautiful but the crowds. The narrow streets were wild in Key West too.

My wife and I went to keys few months ago with ours jetskis and we noticed that jetskis are NOT welcome there, is very limited where you can go. At Islamorada out 20 ramps we found just one aloud jetskis ($40 each) but after at all did worth it .
I know it.... they changed everything since covid hit. We were trying to find places for this weekend to allow us to launch my brothers boat... so hard to find places these days. And if you're not staying at the a resort with a launch... you are pretty much S.O.L. unfortunately. Did you guys make it out to Alligator Reef Lighthouse? Appreciate you stopping by 🍻

Hilton Honors points don’t count towards parking. Better off staying at a bed and breakfast off Duval don’t have to worry about parking.

@@AdventureEncounters we have never stayed at a Airbnb or a bed and breakfast in Key West. If you Google bed and breakfast in Key West you will see a lot of them don’t charge for parking but spacing is limited for parking. Also, a bed and breakfast is just a little bit cheaper than some of the bigger hotels resorts in Key West.
@@AdventureEncounters we always stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacation Resort and Key West using our Hilton honor points.

Our pleasure! We hate to see someone spend a pretty penny to sleep with roaches 👀... felt we need to be honest! Actually, we have stayed at the Southernmost Beach Resort and really enjoyed it there... we also enjoyed what used to be Margaritaville but is now Opal Key, becuase of the location ( where all the action takes place in Key West). The hotel would be better off charging extra for the room and no parking fee. It makes people angry to pay what they perceive as an extra fee.

Regarding your video, I would say that the palmetto bug issue is pretty much unavoidable because those things fly all over the place. They can wind up in the cleanest rooms. Just saying ...

We have seen them a few times, but never ever inside our house. The resort needs a bit of tlc and to get stuff cleaned up so the bugs aren't attracted to it.
