The best sounding Strat and a clone of Hank's fingers in Shadows land....
What kidda strat is this and witch pick-ups do you using sounds awesome recards from william
Perfect. Just as Hank Marvin played it
Congrats, Robby! Great performance and sound, real authentic. Where do you get the backing tracks from ??? Best wishes from Germany, Al
I'm glad I found this channel, subscribed! Wonderful tones and playing. Would you mind sharing how you get this 'nasal' tone? It sounds almost like popping strings in bass guitar. I hear it here with the middle pickup and also in your 'Savage' cover, in the bridge pickup. Is this something with your picking? (like doing pinch harmonics but not quite?) the angle of the pick? Do you push the strings up with the pick so that they slap back to the neck? It this caused by some sort of delay? Do you use a slightly overdriven tone or completely clean?
I'd appreciate any reply, thank you!
Thanks for subscribing. What you are describing is correct. It is similar technique to the pinch harmonic but not quite to the point where the harmonics is generated. The second point is also correct, that it is some sort of slap with a lot of muting in the left fingers. The tone is clean, the saturation and the slight distortion come from the tube echo. I hope this helps.
@@suaragitar Wow, thank you so much for your reply!!
Curiously the tone is perfect , done by the middle pick up, Hank use generaly the bridge one. This is due to the 58 Marvin Strat is différent in ton pick ups.
Hank uses bridge pickup in the modern era since the 80s. But most of early Shadows recordings were played in middle and neck pickups, except a few tunes such as Apache, Wonderful Land, Shadoogie, and some others
Original sound and beautiful played , you know how to use the tremolo arm, what kind of model is that beautiful strat ?
I love your renditions, all of them.
All the best my musical friend.
Nathan M.
Wow what a play Sound Like hank wow Nice job
Thanks Kenneth!
spot on please could you do Atlantis and Foot tapper 2 of my favourites
Thanks Andrew! I have done backing track for Atlantis, not yet done Foot Tapper. Will upload them when ready.
Regards,
Robby
May I ask which string gauge you used here Robby ?
Hi, they are 13-54 Rotosound grey
Lovely version, beautiful Strat too. What is the backing track you're using? Genuine Shads?
thats incredible the tone is that vintage shadows sound .how do you get it well done
vrey good mr all the way tns
very good robbie, ,,,did you get your new glasses from Hank B. ???regards, tonio
Awesome !!!
The strings are flatwound 12 - 52 Rotosound?
Yes that’s correct!
Thanks a lot !!!
Hi Robby, your recording has a very authentic sound, apart from your brilliant playing. Excellent work., Best regards, Joachim
Thanks Joachim and Merry Christmas to you and family!
Regards,
Robby
Hi suaragitar , nice job ! I love the tone you get from the strings.I can get a good tone like that with new strings but it mellows shortly after a few days normaly.
How old were the strings when you shot this video ? I think you said you use rotosound 13 56, is it still this on that video ? Thanks for answering
hi Thanks so much. So it is still the same brand and gauges. My recent videos mostly played on 12-52 though.
Robby
@@suaragitar How long do you keep them o the guitar , do you change strings every week ?
@@Desaulnierspf no, not every week, more like every 3-6 months. If yours become dead sounding after only a few days, it's more likely problems with the nuts or the saddles, I am guessing
@@suaragitar my strings from 2 weeks ago are still good, I was using 10-46 before and now 11-50 ...i'm not sure the cheap wood of my slammer by hamer can handle 12-52. Anyway, it's better with the bigger strings they seam to last longer and i realized that i got to pick the strings and use the trem the right way to sound the way you do and hank does.
Excellent cover!
What guitar are you using?
Fender startocaster Usa made@!
Hi robby whitch pickups are you using on this strat
Hi Johnny, they Fender custom shop ‘54 pickups. Thanks
Robby
What Pickaps are used in your Strat ? Is a Strat Standard American ?
+alejandro roa Pickups are Fender CS'54. The Strat is self-assembled. The neck was built by Luthier Alan Brason.
regards,
Robby
Hi Robbie that was fab could u do Atlantis RegardsDarrell
Thanks Darrell. I have done backing track for Atlantis, just to record lead guitar and video.
Regards,
Robby
what strings do you use & what gauge ?
Hi Peter,

I hope it helps.
Robby
