  • This video I make a second N scale track/rail cleaning car to add to my fleet of rolling stock using some inexpensive materials.
(This car is based on the design seen on the Model railroading channel

Great idea! I might give this a try with some modifications. I think leaving the tops of the nails free and instead putting something like pen springs on the underside for downward pressure might be another way. This way the car can have it's own weights and the pad can be removed easily to still run the car as normal. If I end up doing this and remember, I'll leave an update.

Springs could absolutely work too. I have a cat that likes to laze around the tracks and knock over train cars though so keeping things in one piece helps me!

Thanks, this video features a project layout I picked up online and started to modify and work on. I have a more complete layout I've been working on that appears in some of my other videos too, check them out if you'd like too!

I model inHO and I use roofing nails with bigger gluing surface. Then I weight the Masonite pad with a couple of pennies. I have a bunch of the pads and swap them out to clean. These cars are an easy build and effective way to give your tracks a quick buff.
    Thanks for sharing!
