I guess, it's better to use it when the wheel is not mounted on the frame, just after replacing/repairing the tube. Else it just almost useless for me. I'd probably tear the valve out before the tyre is inflated... Not sure how TPU fares with CO2, if fine, it might be much more practical.
As with any pump you do need to be careful to not bend the fragile presta valves. I've found that it's actually easier to have the wheel on the bike as it helps hold the wheel in place as you pump.
