@ex59neo53 Uhh, Boots Randolph and Chet were friends and collaborated on a lot of projects, including an album with Floyd Cramer. Boots helped Chet compose this cover, actually, which was just 2 years after the original Sax version was released. It's not "meant" for saxophone, it was originally done on the sax, then done amazingly on guitar by Chet.
Any musicians watching this video? I learned one of the most important things I ever learned as a musician, just by watching this video. Can you guess what it is? Hint: look at Chet, not at his fingers.
Scott Lewis I see many inexperienced musicians screw up their face in anxiety as they approach a difficult passage. They're messing with their own heads unnecessarily. Two things happen when you force yourself to smile while you play: First, you automatically make your subconscious believe that you can play the passage, which relaxes you and gives you a much better chance of playing it well. Second, you communicate to your audience that you are in control, which is what every audience member wants to believe. It is very unnerving being in the audience and wondering if the performer is going to play a mistake or stumble his way through it. Watch John Williams or Tommy Emmanuel, who both communicate their control while they play guitar. If you are a musician in your early years, try smiling while you play.
+koyunbaba73 That I learned from this video was that how easy it is to cheat stupid people. Listen to the music and see how Chet is *not* playing the same song on the video.
@@jeffcarpenter5147 Sadly, that deadpan-looking guy at the left just sitting there, that looks like he wishes he had just stayed home that night with a 4L goon, looks remarkably like my dad. Lol.

I just enjoyed this song because Chet is playing it. anything else I hate this tune thanks to all the stupid candid camera videos you see on 3rd rate TV stations... thanks for ruining a wonderful experience
It's crazy how absolutely effortless he makes it look. Guitar god.
if there was ever ONE singular song I would love to learn on the guitar it's this one!!!
I like the part between 0:00 and 1:57

Brings back memories.
It sure has been a while since I last visited this video. Still as amazed as I was back then!
One of the great all time pickers!
The way the bassist smiles at the rhythm of the guitarist in awe is just heart melting
Yes! It's the Benny Hill Show.
Every time I hear that song, I feel like running around in a circle.
And pat a bald man on the head.

Amazing. I get so into how well he plays. His stoic position and he hits two chords and I laugh. How cool can one guy get? Chet Atkins. There is none.

Marc Anthony Really?
Well, it's either this, or Monty Python's "Sit On My Face". Well called, sir. Well called.
Same.
No one can, could or ever will take the title of the best guitarist ever from Chet Atkins.
james burton
I search this specific playing from last year b coz i didn't know the song title . At last ohh at last. I love it.
certified guitar player for a reason.
Try learning it and you actually see just HOW easy he makes it look! I swear it's as difficult as how easy he makes it look. =P
He plays his Gretsch G6122 1959 Country Gentleman. I have one like it, but it isn't quite as fast as his. Wonder why.
this cheers ur face up like 99.9 percent on a rainy day!
The crowd clapping on 2 and 4 ! Impossible in my country...

Gotta love the ol' six string twanger
It says something about clean guitar being under used.
Boots Randolph is good on this; Chet is good on it too. I like both, but prefer the sound that the guitar gives it.
The Chicken pickin' genius!
god thats so f'n awesome!!!!
"It's the Benny Hill show!"
He read every edition of Mel Bays guitar books.

This song is for sax ,not guitar :(
ex59neo53 maybe so, but Chet took this on and absolutely nailed it. As good, if not better, as the original Sax version. Finger Pickin' Good!
