- Here was my "controversial" exhaust setup I had on this car. Sold it a while ago.
Setup is BBK ceramic shorty headers with a true dual resonator delete and muffler delete with 12 inch long tips. It doesn't have an x pipe or an h pipe just straights.
The SOUND IS NOT FOR EVERYONE but I still thought it sounded pretty cool. Haters will hate though, not that they will read this far. Seems to be a love it or hate it setup. If you don't like this sound then you might like the sound a X pipe makes more.
IMO, don't run this setup without the headers and tips as they tuned the sound a little bit. I had it with stock tips and no headers and I didn't like the sound.
Also this setup was incredibly loud, it could be heard from over a mile away which is awesome.
This was my previous car and I had a lot of videos of it in my camera roll so I decided I'd post.
My current car is a 2015 GT.

you are 100% right, Ive been looking at how many v6 trucks, including the new 2022 raptor sounds like crap. If they just had shorty headers, would i only consider a v6 in a full size truck. I wish they could stop doing even firing v6 and try something different.
I like this model as well. Is this a particular kind of bbk shorty headers? Where can I purchase a set.
Wow that’s the best sounding v6 I heard. I used to have a 4.0 mustang with a flow master which was alright but this just sounds amazing.

After testing on my first 3.7 v6 I found that keeping your cats and going with a 3inch dual tailpipe will give you the same result here. The longer the 3inch goes back the better.

Yeah, most people don't understand that your tip length should be at least 12" and you SHOULD have actual tips rather than plain pipe, and the tips should be bigger than the plain pipe. You should also, ideally, have at least 12" OF plain pipe after any muffler and before any tips.

Does an 8-inch long exhaust tip have a lot of influence on a 12-inch exhaust tip, which of the two tips would give me the deeper and stronger sound or there is not much difference. @@elvisreyes3383 I don't know specific differences between examples, I mostly just understand that longer is better and that if you want the tip to resonate well, it needs to be at least 3x as long as the diameter. Why? Because the diameter multiplied by pi is the circumference, and having the length be at least equal to the circumference probably has something to do with the resonance.
@@Drunken_Hamster Thank you very much, I have the following configuration, I removed the middle muffler and put Sr performance x pipe and dc sport ex 1012 b 4 inch resonant tips, then I want to change the dc tips for a 12 inch long exhaust tip, 3 inches wide input and 4 inches output What do you think will improve my sound? I don't remember the exact amount but probably like 800 to 900. I did the headers myself though so it might be more for a shop install.

Definitely get headers. It’s extremely raspy on fast acceleration without them. I have a straight piped muffler delete v6 as well. I need headers.

I want this exact set up, car sounds 🔥 asf! I already have the 1-5/8- inch shorty headers. I’m getting the C&L Muffler Delete Axle-Back with Black Tips as well to add to that. Will it sound like this or similar with the build I’m going with?
It will sound similar, but a little quieter with some of the rasp toned down.

@Quamaine Sturgis Pretty much. The tips made it a little bit deeper but didn't change the overall sound. So yea resonator delete would be pretty much it.

I’m going to get a mustang v6 soon and I wanna have a nice exhaust sound, what 2 mods do you recommend ? (I can’t do a lot too bc i dont have that type of money lol)
For the most sound for your buck I would reccomend a mid pipe and an axle back exhaust. Should wake the car up a little and make it sound nice for not a crazy amount of money.
If you’re looking for a deeper tone definitely just go with a muffler delete it’s a good starting mod for super cheap and your car will sound amazing
In my opinion i recommended to buy Roush Borla ATAK. It gives you deep sound and if you install it with BBK shorty headers, roush cold air intake. It would be perfect deep sound of your car.

You could tell them to do a muffler delete and a true dual resonator delete with no x or h. Just straight through. And the shorty headers if you have them and they can do them.
I have the same car. With intake,bbk throttle body,sct tuner, 355 rear end ,manual. I want shorty headers,x pipe and muffler delete. What kind of resonater should I use? I also have to keep my cats because of the law., will the resonaters have to go after the xpipe?

Is this considerably quieter with an x pipe? And what does the inlet diameter need to be on the tips? I’m thinking about doing 4 in tips but don’t know what size the piping needs to be to connect to the stock piping
I haven't heard the x pipe in person, but based of the videos it's a decent amount louder. I bought 2.5 inlet tips. Not sure if the stock piping size is 2.25 or 2.5, but the shop made them fit nice.

Yea true. If they have them, get long and open tips, it made it sound alot better in my opinion. Mine were 2.5 by 4 by 12in

What size of headers? 1-5/8 tuned?
Bro I’ve got a charger gt 2020 V6, could I get headers on that? And if so does year matter because all I see online is 06-2010 models.
I don't know that much about the v6 chargers but I think those are for the previous gens (06-10). I believe they changed the engine to yours after that and I don't really see anybody putting headers on those for some reason. So yea year matters in that case.

Shortys usually don't mess with the cats but longtubes do. I just bolted mine on in front of the stock cats.
I really want to set my 2013 F150 3.7 up like this. Where do I start? What do I need, specifically?
I'm not to familiar with the f150 3.7 exhaust setups and I'm not to sure if they make a kit for this, but you can take it to a good exhaust shop and tell them you want true duals with no muffler or resonator and bring your own exhaust tips, the shop will provide the piping. After this you would need to buy shorty headers (if they make them for the f150 3.7) with the stock cats still attached and it would sound somewhat similar to this

How did you get your revs to reach 7k? my tuner only allows me to get it to 4500
Do you have an auto? Mine revved all the way to 7000 from the factory and 7500 the tune. You might be able to email the tuner and ask them to turn it off.
Did you still have your catalytic converter on when you recorded this video?

It would probably be noticeably quieter with the x pipe based off my personal experience

I noticed a pretty big difference in sound. It made It sound a little more muscley. Not sure if it made it louder but they have bigger diameter tubing than the stock manifold so maybe.
That sounds almost like a V8 under low RPMs.

The headers connected to the stock cat pipes so I think around 2.25 or 2.5. The headers themselves were 1 5/8''.

I never had a x pipe or h pipe on this car so I wouldn't know, but it still seemed pretty quick.
If you meant a resonator delete in general (x,h), then you shouldn't loose any power.

How was the drone?
On the highway there wasn't really like "booming" drone but you could definitely hear it back there. I've taken long road trips with it and it never bothered me but I like loud. It might be different for some.

This Is the ones I used. Can't speak for super long term quality though. Only had them for about a year. Any decent shop should be able to make them fit.
Is there a decibels number on this?
I never did them on this car but probably mid 120s depending on how far the dB meter is away from the exhaust. It's definitely a loud setup.
I don’t know much about Mustangs and The coyotes Rev limiter can these Cars rev to 7k? I own a 392 and my revs only reach to 4K. This is interesting asf no wonder why coyotes scream loud asf
This is a V6 not a Coyote. Automatic trans can only rev to 4k and the manuals up to 7k I believe. You can remove that rev limiter with a tune tho

Irl maybe like a 8. I've never heard it from the outside on the revs or anything. But the next owner must have lived close enough to me where I could hear it at night with my windows closed from like 1 mile away. Ive noticed the the sound just really carried with that setup. Ive got a catless coyote now, and it wasn't too far off from that, but definitely less.

None of that "booming drone" that makes the interior vibrate, but you could constantly hear it on the highway, even over my music until I turned up the volume, since it is a pretty loud setup overall. Some may consider that drone, but it seems to be different for everyone. I didn't think it was too bad though now being in my current car.

mustangs sound so terrible why cant they get them to sound deep badass like camaros, stangs sound like popcorn rice burners.
I love how the camaros sound, especially when cammed, but an dohc 4v per cylinder V6 won't really come close to a pushrod v8 in terms of sound.

Way too loud, and sounds like ass. Put an H pipe and some straight through mid-pipe mufflers on that thing. It'll make more power, and sound better.
