The SP2 is a sports car developed by Volkswagen do Brasil for the Brazilian market, and produced from 1972 until 1976. It is based on the Brazilian market Volkswagen 1600 Variant. The abbreviation "SP" is said to have stood for São Paulo or, according to other sources, for Special Project, Sport Prototype, Special Performance or SPort-Car.

This is a Brazilian project (exclusively). But, it's rare even around here. The German never bought this idea. Essentially, it's a "sports" car, with a weak engine. Bizarre, but the Brazilian never had the money to buy big engines. I think this model is beautiful! More than anything VW has brought to our land.

Interesting fact Porsche later bought the rights to the design and used it as the basis for the 924/928.

Does it take regular gas? What about carburators? Original or not? How does it behave during winter (engine and handling)?

"Regular gas" varies depending where you are in the world, but I'm pretty certain it was built for leaded petrol and with the carburettors, any gas conversion (LNG/LPG) would be a lot more difficult unless you were also going to do a fuel injection conversion... if your question related to gasoline (petrol), then you should be able to use the regular that you would put into any unleaded petrol vehicle, but you need to add an anti-knocking additive as you would for any older vehicle - i.e. replace what the lead used to do. What is allowed will vary by region of the world.
