The chassis stiffening is from LR Prod Carbone RC, which is of excellent quality. Looking forward to the build!!

    O.o
My absolute favorite 2wd when I was racing back in the early 90's! I cried when I upgraded to the Cougar 2000 (and sold my Cougar 2) as I couldn't get that one hooked up (still have the Cougar 2000 with the dirt from it's last race in the mid 90's ... drove me to quit RC at the time). I shoulda gone back to the Cougar 2 when I went to the US Nationals in '94, probably would have done way better.
Wish I had kept that Cougar 2 ... tears in my eyes looking at your new ride! Mine had a red anodized chassis as I recall, and I was unbeatable at a few of the local tracks at the time. Bringing back so many memories. Had the ProCat to go with it too ... upgraded to the Bosscat which has some extra nuances (still have my Bosscat, and a Cat 2000).
I can't wait to see you running it and comparing it to the new Cougar and whether you can keep up your times. Tracks are way different than they were in the old days ... did you run dirt in the 90's for instance?
Get cracking on that build next week .. I can't wait to see it completed!
    Fhuz oot.

I loved My Cougar 2. I liked the shocks on it and the disc wheels. Shocks very easy to set up. I am going to upgrade the shocks on this. Did you have ant issues with the chassis bending at the narrow section just before where the gearbox bolts on. You can get a brace but it limits where you can put battery. I remember the front of these being a little bit of a weak point. Have to get some spares. I also Remember where the rear arm pins bolts through the chassis, the bolt would bend. Not 100% sure if my memory is correct. Really looking forward to building this. Such an iconic looking RC. I loved the look of the Cougar II also. But due to the way the Nose cone screws on because of the front shock tower, most cars ran with no cone after a few meetings. Have a 7.5 to go in it. I think with Vintage we can run any motor as long as ESC is in blinky mode.

@@FullOnRC I don't remember the chassis bending to be honest. Maybe I didn't hit as many things ;o). I do remember the front being a weak point and carrying a number of spare parts. The local distributor of Schumacher (a friend of mine) used to give me a bucket of parts to bring to the track and sell if someone broke something, so we always had parts on hand at the track. Arms, shock towers, bulkheads mostly, with the occasional other bent piece here and there. The Cougar was a nightmare, and I never owned on of those. I believe they had the laydown front shocks that went inside the chassis somehow ... all I remember of those was that they kept having their shocks get stuck.

@@fhuzpatch Laydown front shocks. Was that the Topcat? My chassis never bent at the back, but a friends did as he used to run it in the street.

You know that grey foam you can get to insulate pipes. Is it that. A video of the room is on my to-do list. Cheers for tuning in Mark.
