Junior Brown is a guitar virtuoso (and has been for some time) but is surprisingly "under the radar" of many people (but he and his wife Tanya Rae did do a "Gap" TV commercial... back in the day). What you saw on "Highway Patrol" is nothing compared to what the man can REALLY do on that thing called the "Git-Steel" (he has a few of them). Check out the live version of "Freeborn Man" to see Junior cook. BTW, Junior can also rock (he was a featured guest of the Stone Temple Pilots when they appeared on Letterman + he can hold his on when it comes to Hendrix songs). The guy is truly respected in the music world (and rightfully so).
I like this song. Listen to it all the time. My favorite by Junior Brown is My Wife Thinks You're Dead. He has a lot of good songs. Hope you do more of his songs. Thanks for the heads up about double tapping the phone, I usually watch you on my phone.
They start that shit, I'll leave UA-cam in a minute. If i am going to be forced to buy my way out of pop up ads, I'll go buy the damn music. Already paid for most of it at one point in my life. Sometimes I paid for it twice, as the upgrades came. And there were a few times I paid for it three times.(Metallica. Bought their albums, as they came out. Bought their picture discs, when I could. Bought their 8 tracks, then their cassettes, then their CD's. Then was told I was stealing, when I downloaded their stuff on Napster." Left a bad taste in my mouth. I currently own about 300 CD's. It's just easier to come to youtube, than to dig thru my collection, for what I want to hear, at any moment.
Junior's greatest appeal is his live show and videos. Studio doesn't do him justice. I told him so when I met him at the Fillmore and a few years later, he released his first live record.
Junior Brown is one of the kings of "Cow Punk". The actual studio recordings, and the "official" videos are watered down to try to appeal to the country crossover people. After seeing him live several times, let me tell you JB can flat rip it up. He attacks that custom "Guit-Steel" with a demonic fury. Guitar Magazine once ranked him as the "#1 House Rocker". If you see him live, you will know that you are not at a "country" show, but a master guitarist show.
Believe me, if you saw him live "Country" would be the furthest thing from your mind. It is straight up "Cow Punk". An incredible talent. Check him out.
Junior Brown is my fav (and only) country music person. He does the kind of country my father and grandfather used to play when I was a little kid. He's an amazing picker on either electric guitar or steel guitar. Check out 'My Wife Thinks You're Dead', it's amazing music AND hilarious. ua-cam.com/video/DaEzT5MusFs/v-deo.html
Jr Brown and his Guitsteel he invented himself. He's just the coolest-he's been the guitar on the Sponge Bob soundtrack all these years. Also a very very nice guy and a legend.
Love this song... but it leads to several hours of listening to old trucker songs... Dave Dudley, Red Sovine, etc.... no complaints though... that was my intro to country by my dad. Got several albums of old trucker music. Tombstone Every Mile is my fav though.
Ah, a mention of the great Dick Curless. There are times I think Junior sounds a little like Dick. Highway Patrol is actually an older song from the era you mention - by Red Simpson.
Oh yeah! Jr. Brown! Dude invented his own guitar. He's that good. His live performance of "Freeborn Man" on Austin City Limits (I think) is mind blowing.
It is an electric guitar. A telecaster with a lap slide attached. Check out his song "my wife thinks you're dead."
Junior is one of THE best guitarists around ... country... rock... whatever! You should REALLY see him pick.
My wife thinks your dead , is one of the funniest videos I've every seen. Also, Junior is one of the baddest guitarist around , no doubt.
I think it actually started out life as a fender bullet.
Junior Brown is a guitar legend in Country picker circles.
Favorite is (You're wanted by the police) and my wife thinks you're dead. It's a hoot!
He is one of the best guitarist out there and custom designed that guitar if I remember correctly.
My brother used to live next door to Junior Brown in Tulsa.
Junior Brown has a master's degree in Art History from NYU and taught music.
Junior Brown play's
a Guit/Steel
Guitar / Steel-Guitar combination.

My wife thinks you're dead is definitely my favourite too.
The song "My Wife thinks you're dead' and the video is hilariously and well done.
Totally agree. If you want to see a master guitarist rip it apart, check out JB live. He is not a novelty act, but the Godfather of "Cow Punk"
I Mentioned this somewhere.
'My wife thinks your dead' is funny too.
Junior Brown is fantastic!!!
Couldn’t watch it... constantly interrupted with Skip Ad notices

And I did get that skip ad thing on this. Maybe it was on this particular song, but once again, I will not put up with that. And I see it coming.
His voice sounds like Johnny Cash.

Nobody plays like Junior Brown
He can toke a lb of weed and play perfect
Worst video to comment on. Too many ads
Never heard this. I liked it, wish he played that guitar longer.

Man the "skip ad" thing popped up every 15 seconds - very annoying.

Hey Ty would you please do a reaction to Clay Walker "The circle of love". This is from 1998 or 1999 and I think you will really like it.
This is my father-in-law’s favorite song. This guy can play the hell out of a guitar.
Listen to his Surf Melody.
