I know I'm a little late to the party and I know that it's already been fixed but damn if they would have done that to mine I would have been a little upset? Why redo the entire edge when they could have just fixed the latch tolerances? Seems like a bunch of extra work for a similar but a much more permanent solution. I don't flip latched knives anyways but it just baffled me that BM just reground the blade 😅
Thats my favorite part about when I owned a Benchmade Balisong. The warranty was like having a pit crew on standby. Especially when you live in Oregon and Benchmade made is a short drive. Let's get some flipping Luger!
So with california, even dealers aren't allowed to ship, sell, or transfer ownership of balisongs with blades that are at least 2 inches in length. In other words, if you want to send your balisong into the dealer for repair, you have to have it shipped to somewhere that they're legal, pick it up, and drive it back into california. Which, is also..ILLEGAL. Any balisong or switchblade cannot have a blade any longer than 2 inches. You can't have it in your car, you can't have it on your person, the only place they're allowed to be is inside your home. Being caught with one can result in 6 months in prison, a several thousand dollar fine and confiscation, or even put you on probation. I looked all this up, because I might end up having to move to california for my future job due to my chosen line of work. Which means transporting the several balisongs I own (they happen to be 100% legal here), could be a problem. Yet there's no prohibitions on fixed blade knives or folding knives as long as they don't have a hand guard. How the heck do you find a balisong that's still flippable that only has a 2 inch blade?
In California, it’s only illegal to carry this in public, or have it in either front seat of your car. If you are transporting in the back of your car, you’re totally fine. Just don’t keep it “on your person” in public and it’s legal.

The light catching the blade is so badass.
