I think that Benchmade is missing out on missing out on the 42. Re introducing it could bring in a whole new generation of flippers and would sell extremely well considering how high the demand for the 42 is. I know for a fact that if Benchmade came out with the 42 again or something extremely similar i would buy it the same day.
Jurisma its not the titanium. The 4x handles were investment cast Ti. The molds eventually started warping, and the handles were coming out warped and with all kinds of imperfections. The market was jusy not demanding enough at the time for Benchmade to be able to justify producing more 4x knives.

On the contrary, a double edged balisong is the one used as a practice knife here in the philippines. You will learn how to respect the knife and to handle it correctly. The original purpose of the balisong or bente nueve as we call it is to kill quickly. So the practice also involves concealment, quick draw and stabbing precisely the target in awkward positions. But the practice is discreet because it is illegal in the Philippines. ✌️🇵🇭
I have a BM 51 with the Spring Latch (Same exact one shown here in this vid @6:45 ) And I Love it! Its light as hell and flips so easy and smooth. Not to mention I really like how it has the pocket clip and imo it is Definitely worth the money! I couldn't be happier with it, its Perfect! And like Lucas said "It is a Great High Quality knife for a good price!"
I had nothing but trouble with a bear and son, very very stiff joints would not break in, scales fell off, then the handles fell off. Dangerous knife went into the garbage. I think I'm going to give the kimera a try.
@@BuckMayas i picked up a Kershaw to play with in the mean time and have been playing with it and haven't got to a Kimura yet. I am a new believer in roller bearings. The Benchmafe 42 is imo the perfect the perfect flipper. It's the perfect weight, it's super high quality and the construction is so much sturdier then the morphs due to milled out titanium.
Jake Richards well I'm sorry it's channel titanium but the way they make the the channel titanium is by milling it out. It starts off as a solid piece of titanium and then mill it out.

Anyone watching this video in 2022, the kershaw lucha is an amazing live blade starter knife. It might be a little bit pricey at about 120, but it won’t just be a starter you replace, a stock kershaw lucha flips great, and will take a hefty beating, but then if you decide you want something better, go to flytanium, and pickup some flyti handles and ceramic bearings and now you’ve practically got a brand new knife.
I used a lucha for about a year and a half of absolutely torturing that thing, did not shelter it at all, it fell into rocks, slammed into concrete, anything you can think of to happen to a knife while flipping, it happened to this knife, and it still held up, the only reason I replaced it is because I had a chance to buy a really sick ab venom Bowie.

As a trained knife-fighter, I prefer the tanto blade, even on my combat fixed blade. It is hard to snap the point if you run into thicker bones when stabbing. Also, the joining edge will slice deeply when you are parrying an attacker's arm or making offensive slashes.
Watching this while flipping my Krake Raken and having 3 more store in my closet. Crazy to see what lucas accomplished after this, BRS is no longer the only option.
Do not buy a bear and son! Mine completely broke after only a few month. The handle martial is supper soft metal and bends if just drop it on time floor.
garrett g my bear and son knife was great. I dropped mine multiple times, smacked it off of tables by accident and just fucked it up and never had an issue.
Bear & Sons is a great company, just try to avoid any of their knives that use zinc handles. Others, the B200 is made out of G-10, and is a fantastic flipper.
Reaaaaaally wish alot of these companies would quit selling these knives so damn expensive. Also unless it's some crazy handmade bali, there's no need to be putting on crazy super steels on them.
I got a £10 replica Benchmade trainer lol, although it is pretty good quality. It's black and I've had it for like 4 years now and it's never even scratched. Although I've only dropped it on carpet/my foot.
i remember being around the age of 12 or 13 when i owned the Benchmade 42... not knowing i had a grail knife plus then it only costed around 250$ or something in that range... sadly some loser stole it from me and knowing they arent being made anymore sucks ill NEVER forget that BEAUTIFUL blade !♥♥
Greats video by BladeHQ.Everybody must see again this video with turned on auto subtitle :D I saw Lucas Cao as little cow and Bradley Kimura as Bradley Camera :D
I know this is crazy late and you might not care anymore but you should definitely open up instagram and hop on the #balisongsale ! They are for sale often. :)
flippers aren’t “most people.” remember, we’re the people tossing around razor sharp knives on a daily basis and i’m willing to spend this much on a knife i know will be great for flipping and will last long.
i got a $25 benchmade knockoff on amazon (yes it was a live blade, sharpest knife ive ever received factory however it wasnt a real model by benchmade it just had there logo) and it had a spring latch and all that. i gave it to my brother for his birthday. he got drunk and left it at someones house, unfortunately they no longer sell them. i loved that little knife
I really like this Spyderco smallfly 2, Id like to see aftermarket scales 🤷🏼♂️ these g10 are perfect, but i would like for them to be a different color
You know u can open them knives by holding the locking pin between thumb and index finger and just letting it fall open then catch the other end . It's waaaay faster than flipping . What u want is an assisted blade with the opener on top , move it , knife flies open . Fav blade for work is Milwaukee red knives that take razor construction blades , always sharp , flips right open , light, perfect
Haha that's all you got sky? You don't think they could have mentioned other brands at all? Cause there are a few I would have liked to see on that table.
Kris Da Bali Guy be really it's the bottom of their line its obviously not going to beat other better Balis out there. They did it to make an affordable version of their knives so more people could buy them. It's not a great knife it's a passable knife and there are a ton of better knives. Why the fuck would I want some idiot like you to "join me" anyways? I bet you were one of those people on MySpace that wouldn't stfu about how many friends you had haha. My ass has a life and a great paying job and I'm my own boss. I don't need people like you to approve of anything I do or say kid.
Beating a BB wouldn't exactly be hard lol, it sells well because it's a BRS product, not because it's good. The thing is shit, if you came from a Bear and Son or something, sure it'll feel great, but once you flip a Bas, or an AB, you will never want to go back to that trash.
I had a balisong when I was young, 40 years ago. Good to play with and very useful cutting mangoes but so darn hard to clean after. Not worth the hassle!.
I think you just need to avoid cutting really messy things with it so that nothing gets near the pivot points, I helped prep some quail after a small hunting day and it was pretty helpful cutting the wings and stuff, and no more hassle than a normal knife to clean the blade
Cold Steel Arch Angel. Discontinued. Titanium handles. Carbon V blade. Bought it years ago. Never really practiced. Cut myself too much. Just bought a balisong trainer. Will work with that to learn some basics then I'll get the Arch Angel out and work with it. Thanks for the video.
This was great!!! I sat watching it while I learned to LocTite and remove my spinning Tang pins from my Barebones V.2 and also put new Milled Aluminum scales on my KERSHAW LUCHA Both badass knives... But them new Lucha Scales are gonna take some PPPPRRACTICE...Weird without a Latch.
I grew up with Bali Song and got quite good with a few of them. Years later I decided I wanted to pick one up again. Saw the prices and said " damn that is a lot for an adult fidget toy!". And I mainly carry full auto's anyways so I will stick with my Microtech and Benchmade . Still cool but not at those prices.
Damn, i got my first balisong and had my first session (which was 3 hours) yesterday, and I now have a newfound respect for flippers 'cause its the next day and my hands are sore from all of the blisters on my hands. The blisters are mostly on my index and my thumb because I tried doing ariels.
Even trainers are almost impossible to get in the UK, though. I'm trying to get a Benchmade 62T right now and no one - absolutely no one - ships these to the UK....Only way is to get someone to ship it to the UK for you privately.
Lucas is a cool guy! I can really tell he's very passionate about balisongs and what he makes. Can't wait to score one of his trainers.

For someone who learned to flip on a Benchmade 62… I love the weight; If you’re bruising up your knuckles you’re doing it wrong.
Reaaaaaally wish alot of these companies would quit selling these knives so damn expensive. Also unless it's some crazy handmade bali, there's no need to be putting on crazy super steels on them.
Most handmade balis that aren't of the ultra mega extreme flipper category are relatively cheap.
I got mine under 10 bucks.
If price is a problem, start your own balisong company that sells them cheap or just buy cheaper balisongs.
Well they kinda really do need to use nice metals so that the Bali isn't super flimsy
I'd prefer something that could survive a drop and something that I could use for more than just flipping.
And im over here with a $3 amazon trainer
Same
I’m here with a 3$ balisong comb
I got a £10 replica Benchmade trainer lol, although it is pretty good quality. It's black and I've had it for like 4 years now and it's never even scratched. Although I've only dropped it on carpet/my foot.
Mine was 8000 yen PFFFTT!!!! I got it off of amazon and it’s chunky and heavy, but I’m just starting so hopefully I can upgrade with time
$560 Pacific Cutlery
I kinda want to see a updated version if this
i remember being around the age of 12 or 13 when i owned the Benchmade 42... not knowing i had a grail knife plus then it only costed around 250$ or something in that range... sadly some loser stole it from me and knowing they arent being made anymore sucks ill NEVER forget that BEAUTIFUL blade !♥♥
what happened? who and how did they steal it?
@@craving_soda442 well fuck if they knew than i think they would try and get it back
That blade on the kumura is my favorite
I’m surprised that the squiddy nor the triton/trident and the new mako is not here
Nicholas Maglione the video is old
They weren’t making them when this video came out
After watching just bought the BRS bear bones 2.0 from blade HQ thanks Lucas
Greats video by BladeHQ.Everybody must see again this video with turned on auto subtitle :D I saw Lucas Cao as little cow and Bradley Kimura as Bradley Camera :D
I wish I could find a kimura love the price but I absolutely love the blade shape my favorite Bali blade shape
I know this is crazy late and you might not care anymore but you should definitely open up instagram and hop on the #balisongsale ! They are for sale often. :)
Whatttt now my m42 is $400+ ? Love every bit of it.
You know what they say😂if you love it let it go...to me😂
E-Boat tanit HELL YEAH BRO U RICH AF NOW GO GET IT BOI
Just purchased a Squid Trainer. Normally, I flip a BM 51 with Flytanium V9, and a BM 87. The trainer will be nice.
i love the sound of that first one
“‘sharp edge, dull edge. What’s the difference?”
👏🤪
you guys didnt talk about the dogbite and i wanted to know about it...
We wish we could have! It wasn't out when we filmed this video in June.
I like how you think $200-$300 is the casual price point, for most folks that's a lot of money.
flippers aren’t “most people.” remember, we’re the people tossing around razor sharp knives on a daily basis and i’m willing to spend this much on a knife i know will be great for flipping and will last long.
i got a $25 benchmade knockoff on amazon (yes it was a live blade, sharpest knife ive ever received factory however it wasnt a real model by benchmade it just had there logo) and it had a spring latch and all that. i gave it to my brother for his birthday. he got drunk and left it at someones house, unfortunately they no longer sell them. i loved that little knife
I would love an alpha beast but y'all have ran out 😢
Squid is the best. Hey, if college doesn't work out you can be a creepy knife shop owner.
I have a Kershaw lucha & a Spyderco smallfly 2, about to arrive in the mail, hopefully very soon
I really like this Spyderco smallfly 2, Id like to see aftermarket scales 🤷🏼♂️ these g10 are perfect, but i would like for them to be a different color
I'm making my own so I could only blame myself if it's bad. Plus I can make it how I want
*buys karambit*
The greatest bali is the 51 , best edc and just get used to play with it and it will break your balls
I love my 87! Excellent flipper!
2:45 So I think we should let *lucas* introduce the next category
*other guy*
I A M s P e A K I n G B O O M e R
The look on Lucas's face 😂😂😂
You guys wanna hear a joke?
The barebones is a good bali.
Haha that's all you got sky? You don't think they could have mentioned other brands at all? Cause there are a few I would have liked to see on that table.
Sky2065, Its probably your hands, not the knife. Barebones is sweet for aerials and rollovers.
Jack Daniel barebones is garbage
I was really hoping you guys were going to dig up a Spyderfly for this video! May it rest in peace...
No one:
Literally no one:
Not a single atom on earth"
Person: the knife sounds like a boeing 747
His name is Lucas and the BBbarfly is actually sounds like a Boeing 747
no one:
literally no one:
not a single atom on earth:
the knife: *Boeing 747 noises*
you'd think after 3 years they'd get some stock back, I leave disappointed
Cold Steel Arch Angel. Discontinued. Titanium handles. Carbon V blade. Bought it years ago. Never really practiced. Cut myself too much. Just bought a balisong trainer. Will work with that to learn some basics then I'll get the Arch Angel out and work with it. Thanks for the video.
This was great!!!
I sat watching it while I learned to LocTite and remove my spinning Tang pins from my Barebones V.2 and also put new Milled Aluminum scales on my KERSHAW LUCHA
Both badass knives...
But them new Lucha Scales are gonna take some PPPPRRACTICE...Weird without a Latch.
*Out of stokes!*
i wanna see Maxace Covenant but imo BRS Ab is the best
Aq_ Only Ab is great little overpriced but i hate brs
NOVAKIA Why?
I grew up with Bali Song and got quite good with a few of them. Years later I decided I wanted to pick one up again. Saw the prices and said " damn that is a lot for an adult fidget toy!". And I mainly carry full auto's anyways so I will stick with my Microtech and Benchmade .
Still cool but not at those prices.
Kershaw lucha is very budget friendly
Damn, i got my first balisong and had my first session (which was 3 hours) yesterday, and I now have a newfound respect for flippers 'cause its the next day and my hands are sore from all of the blisters on my hands. The blisters are mostly on my index and my thumb because I tried doing ariels.
It's so cringy to watch except for Lucas
He's the most cringy
@@alexdurst5745 u mad he got skillz
it would be good if you had most of then on stock!
have you figured out how drops work yet?
@@falcon3911 idk why but that reply was priceless imo.
Im soon getting a live blade knife, i really love your products and what you guys do!
Cant wait for the bali-scissors
Where are you guys in Utah? Just wondering because I live in Utah
We're located in Lehi, just off the Main Street exit on I-15!
Blade HQ can I get a 99% coupon too I'm a broke college student that owns an alpha beast with broken handles T.T
MonsterMc Yes. Use coupon code BHQ99MONSMC for 99% more on your next purchase!
Daniel Hernandez Thanks for making fun of me being broke T.T my textbooks cost as much as a BM87
MonsterMc I feel you. ☹️
UK :(
Trainers, bro.
But a knife not a trainer
Even trainers are almost impossible to get in the UK, though. I'm trying to get a Benchmade 62T right now and no one - absolutely no one - ships these to the UK....Only way is to get someone to ship it to the UK for you privately.
Spit Lashes don't get a 62t it's extremely heavy and soo bad
Spit Lashes Amazon is a thing?...
Put all of them thru thru the stab test as done in the philippines using the peso coin. Those high value prices will get found out lol
I bought a Bear and Son 115 Tanto blade balisong a few days ago and it’s suppose to arrive in two days, right before my birthday
