Question: Can you pre-treat your shirts in advance? Let's say if your going to a large event and needed the fast turn-around?
I'v never heard and seen ink transfer. Can you tell me what kind of heat transfer paper you use?

It is usually recommended for cotton, poly, and cotton poly blends.

I work in a print shop where we use most of these methods. However, I only run the embroidery machines... I got a heat press for Christmas, so I'm wondering if I can achieve multi-color products by buying a sublimation printer and using sublimation paper along with the press.
You can definitely offer multi-color products with sublimation. Keep in mind you'll want to print these on polyester garments. This will give you the best and longest lasting prints.
Stahls' TV What equipment would I need to use cotton garments?
Sublimation is designed for garments that accept ink well. Cotton is not one of those materials. Sublimation is basically dyeing a garment using heat and pressure. Unfortunately, no equipment exists at this time that will give you long lasting sublimation transfers onto cotton.
I mean with the heat press in general.. what would I need in order to heat press on cotton shirts.. thank you for your responses btw!
I'd recommend a Hotronix Heat Press paired with a vinyl cutter and heat transfer materials from Stahls'. :)

For a vinyl cutter, you'll need heat transfer vinyl. The cutter will cut a design in the HTV, you'll weed away any excess material from the design, the apply to a garment using a heat press. Sublimation printers print graphics on specialty transfer paper that can only be applied to specific sublimation garments with a heat press. Would like to do ink transfers. On what kind of materials t-shrts can I print? is this called sublimation because i'm getting confused a little bit. Is there difference beetween light shirts and dark shirts? And what kind of printer do I need, with sublimations ink?
Sublimation is a process of printing on a sublimation printer with sublimation ink and dyeing the shirt. When you heat up the transfer the gases release and adhere to the shirt. For best results you want to sublimate onto white or light colored shirts that are poly, or a poly blend.
So that ink transfer system is also called sublimation? seems the same thing. Thank you
The EPSON featured in the video is a Direct to Garment printer. Different than a sublimation printer.
Don't have machines at all. Wanting to buy one that works for me.
The cost of artwork fees and shipping for the ink transfers was not mentioned !

It depends on what market you want to focus your business on. With sublimation, you can only apply sublimated transfers to 100% polyester (and some poly-blend) garments, not cotton; something to consider if you want to focus your business on selling t-shirts. If you primarily only want to do 1, 2, or 3-color logos in higher quantities, screen printing or ink transfers may be the best fit. Can you add glitter vinyl over screen printed areas?
You can layer our Glitter Flake material over screen printed areas, but I am not sure about other brands of glitter heat transfer vinyl.

For cotton t-shirts, one can use vinyl, DTG and screen printing, right? Sublimation, ink heat transfer, etc, are not for 100% cotton, right?
Correct, Sublimation may initially show up on 100% cotton but it will wash out. If you're working with 100% cotton it is best to work with ringspun cotton.

Ryonet sells the transfer paper 15x15. You realize it has to be screen printed wrong read on to the paper.
