Regarding calling out attacks... I like how Zoro of all people gets cranky about it, simply because in the more realistic medium that is the live action he would literally be unable to speak while doing his attacks. It is an amazing way to just own the oddity that is the practice and make it the shows own.
They are ages Oda said 17 years old Oda said when he starts Zoro is 19 years old and Nami is 18 years old the other ones in this is 17 years old and 19 years old.
I started watching One Piece because of the hype, but stayed and watched til the end because of Zoro, both the character and the actor. Haha.. Mackenyu Arata is the actor. He has done some other anime live adaptations, so he's used to sword fights/action scenes. He is also the son of the late Sonny Chiba, was a famous actor and martial artist in Japan.
After binging the series and then binging it again a dozen times via reaction channels like yourself: You have such a perfect composition for this. I really enjoy the dynamic of two people who are deep into One Piece that can bounce of each other talking about obscure stuff and answer background questions of the others, and the mixture of a guy that kind of knows about it and one completely clueless one also works really well adding great "OHHHh I remember!" and "What the f was that?!" reactions. I struggle to come up how the composition could be any better without adding anyone.

Nooooooo. But absolutely the best. I have followed many reactors through the series myself, it's how I got into reactions! I was an avid consumer before we made our attempt. Love how they portayed everyone so far, ZORO IS PERFECT especially!
Tbh, the manga is weird, the anime is even weirder, but the story, is the greatest story I've ever seen. So let's hope the newly announced remove all of it's problems and give us the TRUE greatest story of all time. Because it is! It just has alot of flaws. In the earlier parts.

Matt Owens one of the producer of the show commented on her post that they will discuss about it after the sag aftra strike maybe, they will release the statement once the cast for season 2 completed. And OPLA is the fastest Netflix series that got renewed for season 2 after 2 weeks of it's released. And it's still on top 2 as the most watched series this week via Nielsen ratings.
It's amazing so far! Love to see all the celebrities emerge who want to play a character and just fans like us! Heres to hoping we get to Wano with this
I went in to this knowing nothing, and jaw dropped when Luffy got shot. I have made a conscious decision to avoid anime and Manga, would I add those art forms to my consumption, I would not have any life left. but this was a great show!
Iñaki actually started watching One Piece after getting the role but obviously became totally immersed in the world and fandom pretty quickly. He’s even learning Japanese and has gotten pretty good haha
Yes!! Eddie and Mikey are lifelong fans of One Piece since the cursed 4 kids dub that we had as children, we didn't know any better! In 2010 it swept our highschool and it became our routine to read and dicuss the manga weekly since 2012. So we kept our eyes on this, we couldn't react to it just us two because wr know the whole story so well! But Joe and Mike.... Well they're fresh and ready to go! It's a commitment but it's also PEAK ANIME.
Jamie Lee Curtis is a fan and loves Tony Tony Chopper wants to play Dr Kureha which her daughter said she should play. Oda did second season already saying coming out also the show Runner Matt Owens is a fan plus Oda was involved in it

Great choice! Besides hearing other reactors mention One Piece I knew nothing about it before watching the live action. I loved it and have since started watching the anime. How can one not love Luffy? I thought this was a terrific opening episode. Will enjoy watching your reactions to the series.
so i guess its not the same english voices as in the anime ? i watch animes in german, because well there is zero sense watching english if its only dub as well and now this series has the same voices in german as the anime so i normaly watch everything in english if its original but now i am torn if i not wanna watch it in german because i have the same voices i know xD
Instead of reacting to the anime, which has so many episodes already, you could wait and react to the new One Piece anime WIT Studio & Netflix are doing. :)
When I first saw this I had never heard on One Piece. One of the reasons this is so good is Oda had major input. There are major differences between the two, which I won't go into, but they stay within the general story and the characters are much the same.

With Chopper, I am worried about how he’s going to turn out. It’s not easy making a talking reindeer who is a permanent fixture to the series. For me, the person I’m looking forward to is Nico Robin. I will pray for whoever is cast as her. They’re going to get all the simps.

Nice pick! I have not even heard about One Piece before the Netflix series became known in recent weeks. When it comes to anime I am not a great fan - only watched everything with Ghost in the Shell in title, Akira, Death Note, Cowboy Bebop, recently Edgerunners and some movies like Princess Mononoke (this one in a cinema). I found myself finishing One Piece in less than three evenings and have to say I like characters a lot, but more than them I like this... contagious positivity of the show even when things get darker, mainly thanks to Luffy - the actor seems like a perfect choice. I am not sure if you agree with any or some of that as fans of the anime but... I love, LOVE how seriously this outlandish world of pirates, marines, weird powers, snailphones etc is treated. It is weird, it is different, but this way I can sink in its ridiculoussness and enjoy the story and the characters. I am personally tired of adaptations clumsily 'doing their own thing' because people in charge of many tv series and streming services which hire them are either incompetent, too arrogant to care or have no clue what it is all about what made the original thing awesome and unique. Is it just me, or does this first episode feel a lot like the G-8 arc(Filler)? Like, the way they were walking around the marine base and such. It reminded me a lot of that arc, and I love it XD Also, not really important, but for the ages(Knowing that you have already watched 'till Baratie): -Ussop and Luffy are 17 -Nami is 18 -Zoro and Sanji are 19(Sanji may be 18, but I don't remember)

@@732ReviewCrew the funny thing was, 4Kids didn’t even know what One Piece was when they got the dubbing rights. They got it as part of a package deal with some other Animes so they had no idea how much censorship they were going to have to do, and oh boy was it a lot haha.

Before the live action I had heard the name One Piece but did not even know it was about pirates and I think it has been a blast to watch
