Madam,I have a small doubt.In the sentence,"He is here" and in the sentence"she is under the table"what is the function of here and under the table.I think here and under the table are working as adverbs.Under the table(prepositional phrase) is also working as adverbial because it answers the question where?.But,one of friends argued that linking verbs are followed by adjectives not by adverbs.They say under the table is only an adjective phrase.My mind does not agree.Would you please clarify my doubt?Looking forward to your reply.P Siva Rao,India.
