Also guys, I just want to stress that using Craigslist as a resource is not necessarily bad, as long as it's done the RIGHT way. Most ads are NOT done the right way. There are a lot of logistics that go into placing a rabbit in a safe home. At the end of the video, I mention that adopting unwanted bunnies on Craigslist is also a great way to rescue rabbits. I have a lot of respect for those of you who have done so!!! If you are looking for cage-alternatives, please be sure to watch the other videos on our channel for tips! xoxo

Please answer this please because I have to explain to you that I actually bunnies can be outside and in free roam but people don't have all the space people don't have that stuff or the space they have cages and they can let them free roam for a little bit like my friends because we we had kids okay but my friends actually do have a bunny it is always happy and it's got a cage and everything and they left it free roam during the day but they can't let him free room all the time because it's going to eat everything find everything that you have there because we we are living in Greece can we cannot find everything that you have it is so difficult to find anything bunny with veggies and everything and it's so cute and lovely and everything is going fine and they found of that for you it's okay it is not a wildlife bunny is for my pet store it is supposed to be a pet you cannot let just passed through it and we're going to deal with this and that you cannot let the pet free roam all the time especially if that's supposed to be Pat and Pat and real pack I know what you would like especially if that's supposed to be to be especially for you to have it in a cage or something like that and the people in the pet stores told you you should have it any kids and I bought a good pet store that you know when you going to

It's common in Indonesia. I also mad about it. Maybe people think so many dog and cats were underestimate, yes its true. But how about rabbit? So many rabbit were sell in Indonesia like under 2 months even under 1 month old, and we do not have animal defender like in America, so many people don't care about animal here. So usually people "buy" and place it in very very tiny cage, and just for 1 or 2 days they die because they would feed them cabbage and carrots only just because they think rabbit eat ALL kind of vegetbles. Even i found some people in facebook group where they shared about rabbits issue, they said that it is ok for rabbit eat rice or firm tofu! Their reason is for the rabbitb to gain more fat. Pathetic but also reality.

When I bought my first bunny, ofc I watched your videos and plenty of other ones for information. Then I went on a swedish version of craigslist to find bunny supplies and a cage (like, large ones, not a hamster cage ofc). Before I found any of that I saw an ad for this adoreable black otter colored bunny. They were selling her for $5, I found that SO SAD bcz the bunny is part of your family once you get it and I could never see why. I read the ad and the first line was "This bunny does bite, and we're selling her because my children are bored". Littearly that was the first line in the ad.
Then it said that with the bunny they would sell the cage, all supplies and extra "pellets" and hay. All of this for $5 still.
I bought her, I didn't want her to go to a family that didn't know anything about bunnies or how to take care of them. I picked her up just a few hours later because I felt so bad for her. Before I picked her up I bought new pellets, leafy greens, hay, straw with a bunch of toys and things to hide wires. I also got some carpets so that she wouldn't be sliding around.
When I then went to pick her up she was in the middle of the kids "playroom" I guess we can call it.
In her cage on her little house. Empty water bowls, rearly any hay, no bottom material and it was really hot in that room. I'm ngl I told the current owner that this was torture and just straight up cruel before I left. I had already paid so she was mine. I went home, put up the cage and let her in, I decided to name her Oreo. She got an attatched play-pen to her cage the first few days so she would get to know me, my mom and her surroundings. Plus I wanted to make sure she wouldn't pee everywhere. Two days passed and I laid down on my back next to her as you said is a great way to bond. She after just 5 minutes jumped up on my chest and started kissing me.
She doesn't bite me, she's the most loving bunny ever. Such a huge personality.

Hey, its pretty obvoius that non of these are breeding mishaps. They look like people got bored of the (i would NEVER get bored of my bunny) . You need to think before you get a pet ..... if you may go to college or move in the future than wait. Nobody would ever make a exuse if somebody just put a dog in a crate feed it shity food and "acciedently" put a female and male dog together than sell all the babies . All these adds are honestly animal crultey there are only some exeptions to giving up a rabbit

Dinø Dan :3 HA “be respectful” are they being respectful to their rabbits??? No! If they wanted a rabbit they should have researched and, I don’t know, maybe get their rabbits fixed or not put them together??? Either way, they don’t seem like they were accidental babies, or they would have been sold earlier with their siblings. They obviously had no knowledge or respect for their rabbits, so they deserve no respect.

One thing not being thought of is an unexpected change in lifestyle, or your bunny isn’t happy with you. Sometimes it is only right to re home, I had to but then again I know who I gave them to and she paid and sends me update videos. I have a bun now and she will be with me until she leaves this earth. There's no excuse for touturing a rabbit, coming from a farmer. I don't eat/raise meat anymore (and my rabbits were NEVER raised for that. Only one was ever put down but something was wrong with him, I had to go vegetarian for health issues right as I got into meat) but I do still breed them. They are treated very well. I buy them chews/make them toys, and everything else a rabbit needs/wants. They really are sweet animals. If you want a rabbit I suggest a rabbit shelter (what I tell everyone, but there isn't one where I live), if you can't find one go to a reputable breeder. At a GOOD breeder and GOOD breeder only you will know the complete history of the rabbit.

Honestly they more than likely termed it as such, bc of not being able to think of the term dwarf...or labeling it as 'small breed', the bunny looks like it could be a hotot which is a small breed. It is rather small in stature... so unless they got it well before the age of 8 wks, the recommended separation from its mother, it could just be a small breed rabbit or one with a dwarf gene. (To be able to use the internet one must deal with the droves of idiots that accompanies it including those that cannot type or form coherent sentences.) 😂🤣😅

Craigslist is a sad place to go. In my area most of the rabbits being posted on there are in situations like this.
I recently rescued to angora mixes on there. They were free with their pedigrees the old owners paid a hundred for each of them but they were literally kids toys and once they got tired of them they kept these long haired rabbits in the backyard in dog kennels in hot Texas summer weather.
They were completely matted everywhere and it took me atleast 3-4 hours grooming each one just trimming out all the Matt's. They were matted everywhere, between their toes, under their necks, ears, their hocks and bums were covered in dried feces. One them literally had it's whole back come off in one piece.
They also we're only fed pellets and grass. Plus they are around 6 months a male and female. I am pretty sure the female is pregnant. I plan on getting both fixed afterwards but for now they're separated. I really hope they are happy now they're actually really sweet rabbits I don't know if it's because they're used to being manhandled by children or what. I'm just glad I have them now.
I was going to start with a short haired breed but I saw these two for free and couldn't help my self. I let them free roam in two different areas in my house and at night I keep them in two large dog ex pens. We are working on litter training at the moment. I'm just more worried about the female being pregnant. I've been doing a lot of research on taking care of a pregnant doe though so fingers crossed. I've only had them for a about a week now and I'm 100% fallen in love with these two.

Your videos have helped me a lot. She came in a tiny cage and she hates it. All she had in there was a metal food bowl and water dropper.
I ordered her a huge xpen for her to live in from Amazon, 2 ceramic bowls, hay feeder, a dog bed with a top so she'll feel safe to sleep in, and a litter box. It will be here tomorrow and I can't wait! Oh, and a bunch of toys too :)
I hope she sees this because I want her to know she's making a real difference. Blue will have a fantastic set up, and by extension life, because of her. Thank you Lorelei and Lennon!

I have a bunny and it's name is Izzy when I adopted her from another friend, it didn't come with much. It only came with a few starter items and I wasn't sure what to use for treats, pellets, or hay. I've looked up what they eat and also this video helped some, too! 😉

Whenever I feel sad and he licks my nose, cuddles with me or lets me pet him I suddenly feel better and I just can't understand how people can give away a PET, it's part of your family, and if you really can't keep it at least look who you're giving it to!

Same here. Got him from a very nice family that rescued all their bunnies and treated them wonderfully. Even with over 20 bunnies they dedicated almost all the space and time they had to caring for them. Very high quality pellets and food. Even had a water system that they had build that kept them with fresh water 24/7.

I have a rabbit rescue sometimes I have 20 bunnies. Each of my rabbits have 8.3sqft enclosures or larger & have access to their room for free roaming & exercise. I try to find forever homes for some of them & keep some by owner request. Rabbits are a large responsibility but you can make simple changes that make it possible to give proper care. If I can do it with 14 bunnies currently, a job, youtube channel & 3 kids it’s possible with 1 or 2 buns.

He has a huge play pin but spends the day out of it. I give him fresh hay, fruit and veggies every day. When you make a commitment, you don’t half ass it. I got my little netherland dwarf from craigslist. I had done a TON of research on rabbit care and decided I wanted to adopt. There are no rabbit shelters near me though, so I looked on craigslist. I was EXTREMELY picky about where I got him from and finally came across an add that had a litter of bunnies and the lady took AMAZING care of her bunnies and had a pretty high rezoning fee so I knew that I had to get my bunny from her. Now I have my little Basil, he is one of the best things that ever happened to me. I think she meant well and believe it was never her intention to be judgemental even if she sounded that way to some of the people in the comments. Sometimes the truth can be so intimidating that people would not want to face it but rather, brush it off with rude and offensive comments. even if she was being judgmental (not saying she was or wasn't) who cares? Our culture has become such a "don't judge" culture... when the truth is... there's lots of things that are personally fine with being judgmental about...
if you see someone abuse a child, or an animal, or the elderly, feel free to judge the crap out of them... they deserve it.
And honestly, most people do judge all the time. They may say they don't but they are lying to themselves. Everything from going out on dates, to 1st impressions, are nothing but judgment calls.

I looked around. And found 2 rabbits in a dark area of the barn/shed. He (the bunny) came to me and sniffied my hand. I fell in love with him. So i decided to buy him with moneyi had saved up. He had a brother which my brother decided to buy. They were scared. But we loved them and cared for them. I read to them after school. Fed them hay. Built them a nice big cage and let them play outside in the play pen as I do homework. It's good to now know they lived long happy lives. I miss them every day. Their names are Rambo and Ruben. And had 2 kids Ramses and Jr. (Who looks exactly like rambo)

If I ever had to rehome my rabbit I’d rehome it for free with many rules:
    1. You must let me view where the rabbit will be staying
    2. You must send weekly pictures
The reasoning to why is because if someone is willing to except those rules, they probably want the best for my bunny and shouldn’t spend money doing such a good thing. The only reasons I would rehome my beloved Clover is:
    1. I can’t give her everything she deserves (Though truly and honestly, nobody can give any animal what it deserves as we don’t have enough power to do such great things)
    2. If it ever comes down to a no pet apartment or living in the streets (and my family/friends won’t watch her)

Oh my gosh, bless you for bringing awareness to how problematic these ads are. I wouldn't be able to do it myself. Cats and dogs have a lot of hoomins in their corners, fighting for them. More small animals like bunnies and birds need our help too. You're a Bunny Angel. 👼💟🐰

    • @britneyford1749
      @britneyford1749 5 років тому +1

kc 1013 them not being able to drink out of it is NOT the problem. The problem is that they don’t get enough water from it, each lick from the bottle is only a tiny drop of water and it causes dehydration due to the energy being used to lick the bottle vs the outcome of water.

My grandma found a cage almost exactly like the wire bottom outdoor hutch in this video. Only some guy made it and breed his rabbits in them. He told us it was perfect for rabbits and you should keep the bunnies outside.
So we did and my bunny died of heatstroke. I’m glad we watched your channel and didn’t make the same mistake of trusting the craigslist people. Because now we have 3 bunnies and have 2 large combined dog cages for their hay water and litter box. And we have bunny proofed my sisters room so they have free roam all day in that room. And my mom lets us bring them downstairs to free roam when the dogs are out.
But my grandma and mom are trying to make us house them outside partially. But we live in Arizona and it’s always way too hot for bunnies, or a little too cold. Not to mention we have lots of wild animals in our area. Like coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, owls, and many other bad things.
My last bunny died of heatstroke because we went on vacation and left her with someone who was supposed to come by everyday and check on our pets. They didn’t do that they locked my dogs outside for the 2 weeks we were gone and just dumped a bunch of food on the ground and filled their pool with water.
And with our bunny they just dumped a bunch of food on the laundry room floor with some water but not a lot and never showed again.
So when we put our bunny outside she was out there for 2 days after we got back and it was 109 degrees that day and died of heatstroke.
DONT KEEP YOUR BUNNIES OUTSIDE. THEY CAN NOT REGULATE THEIR BODY TEMPERATURE AND CAN EASILY DIE OF HEATSTROKE.

I actually got my Guinea pigs off Craigslist with entire set up for free. It's not always people who don't care about their babies. I will say it's not ok for them to just give them without any checking into their new family's but it can save lives as well. Some of these guys would be let "free" or dumped if not rehomed. My Guineas first momma loved them but life happened she checked into us and asked about our family. We love our babies they have a play pen, two teir cage with many hide spots, a placket and play and loads of toys. First momma gets updates from us and it's been the best case scenario for everyone. They are so loved spending hours a day 4 or 5 hours out roaming. Just a reminder for those of you who may come down hard on the people posting ads:)

Its so lovely seeing there are people like you who are also passionate about this topic. It also annoys me that some people get so mad when u tell them that they way they are handling the rabbit is wrong, personally i am open to advice and learning new ways about how to improve as a first time rabbit owner
