This 45 min intermediate hatha yoga class for emotional healing will open your emotional awareness to allow you to experience your emotions and let go into your direct experience of emotions. With emotions we can be immediately present with whatever emotion is experienced in a direct way. What is emotional awareness? It means being completely present and open with the emotion. With emotional awareness we are free in the experience of whatever emotion arises. We are with the straight, undiluted, essence experience of the emotion.
We will begin resting in savasana opening to the earth, releasing tension from our body and connecting with our emotions. Then we will open our body with locust pose and front lying twist. Cat pose and lunge pose will further open our body. Downward facing dog will transition us to standing. In standing we will open to emotional awareness with warrior one, warrior two and peaceful warrior pose. Camel pose is a strong backbend that prepares us to open to strong emotions. Cow´s face pose is another strong pose that prepares us to open to strong emotions. We will finish with savasana and the dhyana mudra.

another beautiful practice- the words, the sights, the sounds, the poem, the geese, and learning that even you are susceptible to the lure of the chips

Great poem by Fernando Pessoa, he´s one of my favorite, and it could not express today´s theme better! Thanks for the class!

In between the exercises were a little tough on my neck but not too much. I loved the teaching about awareness and all the little things in between. The ducks were an especially nice and lovely surprise. Thank you, Melissa!

Just what I needed. I am practicing recognizing my awareness (which is ever present but we dont always recognize it) more frequently during my normal day and activities. So this class fit perfectly. Probably a class I may come back to again. Also class works perfectly in a hotel room! :)

This made me meditate some on why we have emotions. The answer that came to me was that emotions are how we communicate with ourselves.

I used to pull away from unpleasant emotions like you; reach for the carbs, both sweet or savoury, depending on the need, however, I switched to a therapeutic ketogenic diet 5 weeks ago for a neurological problem and my comfort zone was totally and abruptly removed from access.
I'ts been interesting to have these emotions surface without anyway to 'numb' or 'medicate' them back under the rug ( or rather into my tissues, joints, organs and bones), and I have gone through some pretty extreme days emotion wise, but the consistent improvement in my leg has allowed me to get 90% of my life back, and so there is also gratitude for this problem because it has been a huge gift in some ways.
Loved today's poem. And I especially loved the visiting ducks, who chose to come and rest alongside ( apart from the one doing tree pose). I find that when I do yoga in the forest, I often get visits from creatures.
Thank you Melissa and Tim - Namaste

+Sue Asher thank you so much for sharing what is happening in your life with your new diet. I'm so pleased you're experiencing the benefits of yoga. I'm also really appreciative of you sharing your experience of what's happening to you and your life and the comments here. The Ducks were really sweet. Tim quite often calls me Snow White because it does seem that the animals come out when I'm doing yoga in the forest and in the park. It made me smile that you have experienced the same things. :-)

I loved the Geese visitors! Sitting with my emotions is a new concept to me, it is so difficult to do. I always analyze where they came from and I try to avoid them. Thanks for reminder that it is just human to have them !

This felt good Melissa and I love your words on emotions. I love to do loads of yoga to help me through harder emotions, as well as delving into a good story to lose myself, this too helps a lot, as well as creating in any way, be it painting, knitting, baking....there is so much that distracts and grounds me at the same time ! Wishing you well! XXX

My travels back home were a trial of patience. I approach each raising frustrating, exasperating, angry and overwhelmed thought and breathed through them to not blaming, putting my frustration and impatience on the other person. I practiced the mindful way. It was hard and emotions were in turmoil. Nonetheless, today, looking back on yesterday I had a wonderful day, a long one but a beautiful one too.
