- I was already a fan of the original Herman Miller Embody chair. So when this HM x Logitech gaming collaboration came out, I had to test it out for myself and see whether it lives up to the hype.

*One Month Later* Hmm... A couple things off the top of my head. 1) The Back Rest. I still feel like the back rest is stiffer/less flexible than the original one but I don't know if that's a universal change or something that softens with time. I've gotten used to the extra padding in the center spine area. The lumbar area is still a "small" source of pain for me in this chair but that's no different from my experience with the original. I still think that's the biggest potential dealbreaker for some since you can't move it higher/lower based the curve of your back. 2) Noise: This new chair doesn't make the same squeaking noise that my original Embody had made. According to HM, they fixed that squeaking noise on all Embodys and that this change was implemented around 2019. So it's possible there were some other minor revision changes since then that affect all Embodys. But... keep in mind that this chair will and does still have some mechanical/plastic/rubbing noises, which I think is unavoidable with such a flexible chair. 3) The Seat: It still feels kind of lumpy with that extra foam cushion and grooves in the seat. I think it will probably be more noticeable if you have longer legs and need to extend the seat pan out. But I don't think it's a deal breaker. 4) Headrest or Upper Neckrest. I wish there was an option to have a headrest on this chair. Lounging to some shows or playing console games would have been nicer with a headrest.
Thanks for the update, it's invaluable!
Nice review! I got mine about a week ago. I was wondering if you feel the seat is different than the original. I feel like the extra padding and lump on the seat is giving me some pressure on my thigh. If you felt the same way, did it go away after weeks of use? I also use it at home and wear shorts like you.
If you had to choose between the original or logitech version regardless of price which would you go for? What's ultimately more comfortable for long sitting, that's all I need to know so I don't have to buy both lol
@@ROllieHorne Sit in both and choose. TBH, the update looks like nothing more than an attempt to market a gaming chair.
@@MichaelJones-ff9gb ideally I would if I could. Just not sure if I'll be able to find both locally to try
watching this so intently with absolutely no intention of buying.
I used to say the same lol
Im thinking about it
@ its worth the wait. I ordered mine (customized) and it took almost 3 months. when I ordered back in may
HRWells but does it come with a comforting voice narration?
@@hrwells9698 does the chair hurt your butt be honest please ?
I was chairless .So I asked my parents to buy me this chair. Now I am Chairless and homeless.

ROFL
I'm glad to say the issue brought up at 3:28 has been fixed! I got mine a week ago, and the foam has been extended all the way down the length of the seat bottom.
I'm thinking about ordering one myself, are you liking yours so far?
Finally got mine after a couple months of waiting and I have zero regrets. This thing is amazing.
I’m looking to get one. Any second thoughts after a year of use?
This guy hands down makes the best chair reviews
just got mine today, my first high end chair. My eyes have been opened and my life has been changed.
(I did manage to try on in person before I bought it)
When a chair cost more than your whole setup
Any setup will become nearly worthless in 4 - 5 years, the chair won't.
life long back pain...costs millions in opportunity costs
ambiva it’ll definitely lower in price significantly
That embody will hold its value way better than a 2080Ti.
@@Iknowvfx i feel dat feel, bro.
I've been looking for a review of this chair with exactly the information you so succinctly laid out. Thanks for making this video - it's been genuinely helpful.
Thank you so much! I have been waiting for someone to legitimately compare the new Logitech version to the standard Embody.
I have the same chair. I bought it brand new a week ago and I’ve been trying to find flaws in the chair but I have yet to find something that would give me something to really complain about. I think the chair is well built. I purchased this chair for $1100 shipped to my door brand new. I couldn’t give up the opportunity to own this chair for $500 less.
WHere did you find it for cheaper
yeah whereeee??
I bought my gaming embody today as well for 1200€. It just happens that the price goes down for no reason. I was lucky cuz I stopped checking for chairs for 2 months now but something told me to check it's price again today
Can you please, please do a Budget Ergonomic Chair Review. I know that most people just recommend buying a used Herman Miller. But finding one is hard and you have to overcome the tolerance for buying used items. I'd really like to see a reviewer who i can trust.
Hyken/Dexley, Ergochair 2, Workpro quantum 9000 and Steelcase Leap v2 are good chairs ranging from $200 to $600.
" you have to overcome the tolerance for buying used items" At least you can find used, in the past two years here in the EU finding an used Aeron became a nightmare. Broken ones go for €600+. I'm considering buying new, from next month.
Best chair review! Thank you for your time, effort and attention to detail. This was extremely helpful
2:00 I didn't know you also played ring fit adventure
Will this Chair get me to Challenger when I'm at Bronze 5, in League of legends.
I was focusing on that big screen, not the chair! 😂😂
I bought the chair!
only problem i have the same 0.47 Kd....
Got it for 5 years, sitting on it now, best I ever had. Chair for life. Btw what is a gaming chair? Is there even such thing?
I've been looking forward to and hoping you'd review this chair. I wonder, as I can't recall--did you ever try the Aeron? I'm trying to decide between then two.
im sitting on a 20Bucks wood chair from ikea since 5 years and watching a video about 1300 Bucks chair i never buy lmao
Dude your channel blew up so much! Keep up the great content and cinematography.
I am more impressed by that amazing screen you have what model is that monitor ?
just buy this one and really wanted to know what i miss. My choice was mainly because of the price (cheaper to the gaming version) Thank you!
Great video. And you're right, you can get an original Embody from a dealer for around $1100 including tax and shipping in Sync fabric.
The video ive been waiting for! Thanks!
Your vids are so useful and thank you very mucho for putting subtitles 🙏
i had an embody earlier this summer. didn't like it so i sold it. the arm adjustments are more primitive than the ones on the steelcase leap. the base of the chair felt like the steelcase leap. i felt that the skeleton on the back just wasn't supporting me in the way i wanted to. it's really narrow and the whole time i just really wanted to move my back across the back rest to a different area, but there's just no space to move your back with the back rest being so narrow. to me, it looks really futuristic and touts some really nice design, but functionally, it wasn't too far off from a pretty common task chair.
2:58 I really don't understand buying 1500USD ERGONOMIC chair and sit like that with bending the pelvis :/
its the millenial sitting position. Best seen in coffee shops.
@@bobotmeister Boomer detected.
Glad to see you back!
This review was awesome. Much needed information for consumers. Thanks!
For this price, it better lay me Golden Eggs everyday to make up for it.
I am so conflicted... I can get the original embody with sync fabric for $1050 before tax but dont know if that second layer of foam on the logitech version is worth and extra $400-$450...
Its not
I came from the channel Short Circuit... They did a 15 min video and couldn't explain half the stuff you said... Not criticizing but i always expect some proffesionality when it comes to tech related stuff... Instantly subscribed ! 😉
That channel is not a review channel... it is a sister channel to linustechtips. It's part of a larger group of channels with the one I mentioned being the big daddy of them all. They don't ever do reviews on that channel. It's more of a user reaction kind of channel.
nice video! just wondering, what monitor do you have? keep up the great work :)
What laptop mount is that you're using?
David, Thanks for spending time on a thorough review. I think you said (on the prevs. model) the chair made noise from the back supports is this so on this chair? So the sidearm supports do seem "clunky" also very cheap looking, especially when extended. For $1,500 usd that is a major misstep imo.
So HM told me they "fixed" this on all Embodys sometime in 2019. I can say that mine doesn't make as much noise as the original, but I say that with caution. This chair will always have some sort mechanical/plastic/rubbing noise. I would say it's avoidable with such a flexible chair.
Here the expression "it's because he has a good gaming chair" take sens :')
The chair even has a special feature it can generate its own ESD and shock you when you touch metal!
Would like to see how a heavier person would go on this xD If I had the money to throw I'd prob give it a go as I'm a Logitech user and most of my stuff is Logitech
Kind of sad to see the limited "innovation" they did just on the Embody. I thought they came out with a whole new chair just for gaming.
its funny because our "chair" costs abut the same: levus.co
Levus Workstation your chair is ugly af
Well that didn't go as he probably planned. Lol
Levus Workstation I ain’t trying to go to the moon I’m trying to do my homework
Review the Cosm next please!
Maybe you can help me. Im doubting a lot between this two chairs as I have health issues, namely a fibromialgia that makes all my muscles stiff and inflamed. My worst pain is the legs and the hip. Do you think the extra cushing in the gaming chair will be a benefit in my case or not? I also suffer from my back and neck of course, but the worst pains are at my bottom, legs and hips (the interior muscles of the hips) wich is why I want this chair as it has this pixel suspension given thatn traditional foam seat or mesh do not work for me and cretes me a lot of pain in the long term. I've noticed too that if the chair has better back support less pressure ir put on your bottom/legs so maybe the original one helps me more with more back support. thus why im doubting beteew extra foam in the gaming model or better back support in the old one, taking in account that at the end the bigest deal is going to be if the pixel seat does help me with my pain, wich I will only know when I try it. Wich one of the two you recomend me, the original or the gaming one?
Chair looks cool but the Steelcase Gesture is a better pick imho...only thing missing is a mesh customization option
Hey David! I came across your video on what to keep in mind while buying chairs. I really love the content you put. I was wondering if you could review on some steelcase office chairs. I really like how they look but idk how it feels to sit and how comfy they are overall. I would appreciate it. Thanks!
What monitor do you have?
(Apologies if this was already asked)
Great review, the best that I have seen so far on this chair. Thanks so much ....... liked and subscribed ........ ;-)
It looks so comfy and supportive 😭
Hello David, thanks for another amazing video! Would love to see a video wherein you explain more about your work, how you manage savings etc so that we get some inspiration on how to finally put together our dream setup. Really inspired by your minimalist tech lifestyle.
Wish they made one high enough to rest the head. I like to kick back and throw my feet on the desk
Great detail in your review
Cool review! What monitor do you have?
You have Ollin and HX Monitor arm. I like both of them!
Waiting for a video on your white PC tower specs. Thanks. Nice channel.
i wish they would just put a disclaimer on their products like don't buy if you are over six feet tall.
@EuroBomb this is a midback chair, it's probably okay if you're being productive or actively gaming but if you're chilling after work watching a movie and you're tall your gonna want a high back chair for neck support. I am 6'2" 220lbs and I am shopping for a new chair because my dx racer pu material is flaking off. I'm leaning toward the secret lab titan or titan xl. If this were a high back chair I would buy it. I would like an Ergonomic chair but they tend to be mid back. I hate to have to choose between neck and lumbar support. The gaming chairs usually use those dumb pillows.
@EuroBomb secret lab claims to have researched and developed stronger pu, leather has its own required upkeep as well. I'm considering secret labs new softweave material, it's a cloth. They have 3-4 colour ways and I like the triple black. Right now I have a car seat cover on my dx racer to prevent further decay of the pu. The advantage of pu is that it is easier to clean if you spill on it. You could do the pu and put a cover on it like I have right from the start. My dx racer has lasted about 6 years, the tilt mechanism broke which I ordered replacement for. The secret lab titan has built in lumbar support which gets mixed reviews. Sorry this is a little all over the place but I'm on my phone so I can't organize it better. From what I can see there is no perfect chair, your gonna have to pick and prioritize your needs and live with the short coming of whatever you decide on. I liked my dx racer and they were the first in the gaming chairs but I do not feel they have done much to innovate so I'm looking at other brands.
@EuroBomb okay so I have been thinking about this for awhile now while I read various reviews and plan out the solution to my problems.
"Curve ball" lol
I am buying a sit stand desk this holiday. I think having my desk at the right height will help with some of the ergonomics as well as allow me to stand when I'm tired of sitting.
I think just standing for 30-40 minutes every few hours is going to alleviate some of the discomfort I have after sitting long periods. As I'm getting older, 36, circulation is becoming a concern of mine as well as exercising in general.
Then I'm going to buy a secret lab titan softweave to replace my dx racer because I nap at my home desk while watching Netflix so neck support is necessary and I think the fabric will breath better.
Then down the line an ergonomic chair if I feel like I still need it or want it for serious battlefield sessions.
So I'm prioritising standing, neck support then lumbar and ergonomics support. I don't know if that is smart or ideal but that's how I'm going about it.
I'm also going with the desk first because I want to add a third 32" monitor. 🤷🏻♂️
Looks like it would be ok if you do not weigh much. Think a top grain leather chair is probably still the best. That foam pad will mess up after awhile. There is no padding on the arms either.
I like that monitor, can you give me a link for it?
Could u review the autotomus ergochair ?
If you have the money, it seems nice. I’ll stick with refurb/used/open box Steelcase and HM
Thank you for the review. The old table was much nicer looking. Whats the benefits of the new one, why got rid of the old (wooden looking) one ?
I'm impressed the ergotron arm can hold the 48 inch LG OLED
What the heck is that monitor? Love it lol
Solid chair but I couldn’t keep it.. something about the back just felt off, if gave me odd pain. I had the same experience with the aeron, but now I am trying the think as well as they the fern!
Which mouse pad do you use? Looks awesome and perfectly sized for mouse + small apple keyboard
Continue!!!!!!!!!!!
Wish you the best!!
Best reviews to me
Try the 999€ gaming chair from RECARO
What's the big flat monitor you're using looks clean
What is the height/width of the table top for holding monitor arms
How much is your breadth of your table for proper distance from monitor
mesh armchairs with neck support are the best for me
Great review
This was a very difficult decision for me as 1900 dollars (after tax) is a lot of money. But I was used to getting up from my chair at work with back pain that was sometimes just unbearable, so I decided to take a risk and get one of these after hearing how ergonomic it is. I've had it for 6 months. I'll say this - it is going to take a while to get used to it if you're used to having poor posture. But once I got used to it, o honestly think this is the best purchase I've ever made for anything. I can literally sit there for hours and not feel even slightly bothered. Genuinely one of the few things ive bought I'd say was worth every penny and more.
@@salut9658 I've never owned a chair with headrest, so its absence wasn't felt and I don't think it's necessary. But there's a headrest coming up soon.
What desk is that? great review
i never thought logitech would make chairs
They didn't. It's a Herman Millar chair
@@3U9ENE ok thanks man!
Hi, do you mind to share your setup?
Really like this monitor and your speakers. :)
What speaker stands are those?
What monitor are you using? I really like it.
Hi David, What is the brand and model of your Laptop mount? It looks nice.
Can we game on budget pc sitting on this chair?
Can I please ask what's the brand of the stand that's holding your macbook? it looks really good!
I love the monitor. Which model is it?
Have you reviewed the Aeron? How does that compare for crossing your legs?
top review , but still not sure how something made 85% plastic is worth 1500$ :)
would you recommend this over the original?
what chair do you use? i tried the embody and if felt like just another chair. not really comfy. all the knobs and back bending features felt gimmicky at best. looks really cool. i'll give it that. i tried the aeron next to it and it blew me away. felt like i was floating. felt like it took off all the pressure points. my only problem with the aeron is that the B size feels like its trying to push me off and the C size feels a tad too big. the size chart says the B size is perfect for me. probably just gotta get used to it
Now that you have the LG CX for more time, do you have experienced any burn in or other problems?
It would be better with a head & neck support also allow the arm rest to move forward & back
Damn. That monitor tho i wish for monitor like that. Best chair review.
Thanks for your video, showing the most details of the chair, currently i canceled my original embody chair and ordered this new version, my order is still being processed, hopefully I got the right choice as a gamer😄
Is this chair good for a guy at 1.9m tall and 110kg? I'm looking to get an Herman Miller, but I don't know which one will suit me the best. I like the design on this Embody one tho.
Thank you!
Have this chair and find that my thighs start to feel fatigued quickly. Not sure if you experienced the same on either Embody versions
I had the same experience but it’s better after making sure my thighs are parallel to the floor - my seat was raise too high so the pressure was on the back side of my legs. Also, I shortened the seat length by pulling it in as it was right up/close to the back of my knees. This helped released the tension on the thighs.
i got this chair but i have to rotate it out with another chair that has a head rest when i want to just really lay back and relax and not sit straight up
Where did you get that stand/arm that your laptop is sitting on in this video? Thanks.
@David Zhang are you able to get a Buro Metro chair in your country? $250 Australian and surprisingly comfortable
Is it better than sayl? I really hate my sayl and want to change it for something more comfortable and upright
thanks
which monitor are you using?
LG CX
And here i'm dying to get a hundred dollar ergo chair. My back aches so much with my current 40usd chair. Currently at 70usd,30 more to go
aren't you suppose to adjust it to your sitting for your spine?
A Must Have!
Have you tried review humanscale chairs? which are more simple with less pedals.
how comfortable is it? im planning on getting it
The back looks too low for people 6" or above, I'll have to go for the Herman Miller Cosm
Awesome Review though!
