A year ago, I inherited one of these from my late father. It is new in the box. Was just sitting in his garage packaged and unused. Pretty amazing!
This exact same thing happened to me.
They were built to last! Great stuff!
this stuff was really great .made way better than todays stuff
Back in those days, automotive fuel had tetraethyl lead as an anti-knock compound. The lead would clog the generator. Today, those white gas only stoves can burn automotive fuel since lead is no longer present. But I burn white gas only in mine because of the additives in gasoline can still clog the generator. Bought my 426D in the early 1970s. Still works likle a champ. I also have a propane converter should I find that white gas is too expensive or not available.
I have a 1978 that was my grandparents. Works great with a griddle on top when making food for lots of people.
I'd like one of these. I have refurbished a two-burner one with a total cleanup and new paint. A fun and rewarding little project.
My wife was pretty mad at me for buying one of these when I found it at the Salvation Army for $15. Now that I've had it for a couple of years and she's had more than a few meals cooked on it. Now, I am always pulling them up online and showing her the price of ones in worse condition. Saw one for $180 covered in rust. Maybe he had the same argument with his wife. "See hun, I'm trying to sell it."
We had one of those when I was growing up in the 60s-70s. We used in my dad's home made trailer. With a family of 8 it came in handy!
My uncle has two of these he got years ago.. Classic Coleman Stoves..👍
Love mine! I also have the aluminum side trays for mine...I also use the propane conversion generator as well.
I've had mine for about 40yrs, also have the propane adapter as I don't trust anyone else that I might lend it to to F-up using white gas, don't need that headache........
It is so sad living on this side of the Atlantic. Coleman liquid stoves were never very popular over here so there aren't many to be had. I didn't even know the 426D existed, but now I have to have one.
I got one at a gun show once for $25. All that was wrong with it was the cap seal. I tend to use mine for parties. So there are basically two lines of coleman suitcase stoves. The 425/424 size is the ‘compact’ size and the 413/426 size are the ‘deluxe’ or sometime s’powerhouse’ size. The 413g is basically the same as the 426d that you have there… but only two burners. One of my favorite accessories for my 426d is the lifetime tailgater table. It’s a 2’x4’ plastic table with a swing out steel platform that is just big enough for the 426d. Purists will recommend the sequoia stand. That’s cool because it actually fits INSIDE the stove… but it’s a little tippy for me, especially with kids and animals running around. Also, you can pick up a 1.5l Primus fuel bottle and store a refill for the stove inside while transporting. The power house stoves tend to be fuel hogs especially if you run them a lot.
I'm sure glad you posted this! I've been looking for a different camping table and I like the lifetime tailgater design! Also going to order a priumus fuel bottle as well. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience!
Yup i have one it was my dads and is still in great condition
They don't sell this anymore.
Very nice acquisition. I recently purchased the 414 Powerhouse direct from Wichita which should meet all my needs for a lightweight camp stove. I have a Camp Chef Pro90X three burner for larger parties.
Cool looking stove 🔥 👍 😊
Nice stove. I just bought myself one this month. As you found out, I too was pretty shocked how freakin' huge this thing is! I also ended up with a D model. I think the last generation was the E designation. I hope to use mine for some fall patio cooking and bragging rights on the occasional camping trip.
Bought one yesterday at a flea market like new condition $40 not sure if I will keep it but the price was a no brainer
Ha! Did I know? Yes, that's the exact same Model three burner I have, & what was really cool is for the 2 burner comparison you put up my exact same 424! Great stuff, I really like your taste in stoves. Now if you have a 502, & a ww2 army stove, we will really have to talk.
Did you say a 502? ua-cam.com/video/Grt2ItE_g44/v-deo.html
What year is it?
what year is she
Junk picked one but no gas tank how do I get one ????
That big tank is made of 'UNOBTAINIUM'. I bought Sears 3-burner stove, cheap ( Made by Coleman, I'm sure). It had NO tank. So I bought the propane adapter and all 3 burners just ROAR. Good luck. She'll last beyond our years.
Is that a moth lying back there to the right of the big center burner? Or maybe a wing nut. Inquiring minds want to know.
LOL it could of been a moth! It was pretty dirty when I received it!
@@1D10CRACY I had a few different configurations of those old Coleman stoves back in the day. You could always expect to have to dump out a few moth carcasses after a camping trip. On the old Coleman pump up lanterns we just left them in there. They were the original bug zappers.
