Regarding the Canadian National E9 you mention, there are actually two of them - Nos. 102 and 103 - and CN inherited them when it acquired Illinois Central. Both were originally Burlington units. The back story is that IC acquired seven retired BN/West Suburban Mass Transit E units after they were retired. Four placed in service as Nos. 100 - 103, with the latter two being assigned to and painted for CN. (The remaining three units were disposed of.)
