I went in the deepest depression two years ago.. it was pure nightmare, I couldn't even think at something else that my situation for more than 2 secs... I'm fine now... It's a path, you will be stronger, life is beautiful, life is how you look at it, there is hope, there is love. Sending love to everyone there that is feeling bad
I love your optimism. I am 56 yours old and you are teaching this old dog, well not really... a dog. haha alot of good tricks. Finally learning to like myself for the first time ever and I thank you.
This was incredibly helpful. Great information, and also just nice to know I'm not alone. Sometimes it seems like everyone else is so well adjusted...I feel like I'm the only one who struggles with a vicious inner critic.
I’ve gotta tell you, the second you said “having an anxiety disorder is NOT YOUR FAULT” and hearing you repeat that line for emphasis, made me burst into tears. I’ve been struggling with some sort of anxiety disorder for about 14 years now, and the last few days have been reallllly rough, on not only myself but my relationship. And I’m finally feeling in a place of momentum and drive to understand myself and seek help because I want to better myself and I also don’t want to lose the things that I have due to this disorder. And even though my partner and my parents have said it a whole bunch, and I do believe them and it has helped, for some reason hearing you say just invoked such an emotional response almost like an epiphany. I’ve been really enjoying your videos and they are really helping me to centre myself and notice my overthinking and insecurity and jealousy and creating scenarios in my head that don’t exist and obsessing over them so that they feel real. I can relate to you so much more than I can do some old lady in a doctors office so thank you so much for all of these videos, I am seeking cbt but these videos are such good exercises for my mental health in addition to the professional help I’m seeking. So thank you
I'm starting a channel on bipolar disorder and have been struggling with the depression and anxiety really bad...watching u helps so much...im so glad u r here! Thank you! Hope u see this.
By saying I am means that I am owning this. Whatever the issue may be. Whether it’s anxiety, depression , anger or whatever. I no longer use that statement because it does not apply to me. Thank you for this wonderful reminder!
I feel for you! I neeeever thought about youtube or the internet as a community until recently. (Late to the game.) But it truly is. My heart goes out to you!
Depression to Expression So helpful! Thank you bro! I have watched this video just right before my sleeping time and it really helped me feel comfortable and much much better! Thank you!! (-Sorry for my bad English.)
xD dammmmmn dat intro, I love you Scott, you help us so much and teach us with humor, I'm very thankful for having you in this world, for real great job : )
Great video Scott! I really needed that as I didn't get a job and kept kicking myself for even applying.. But u reminded me to flip it to the positive. That's the only way not to suffer.
One man used to tell me. Be careful with words even said to urself. *words are spells* u can cast self spells against urself with that. Be wise. Thank u for this.
I am so thankful I stumbled upon your channel today. Thank you so much for these videos. I am feeling better about myself already and I look forward to exploring more of your videos.
I am so grateful to you Scott. You are a great help. I love CBT and how it gives me a solid base to keep coming back to and practicing. Keep doing what you're doing you are giving a lot of people including myself a lifeline.
Great advice and expertise as allways. And by the way, this is my first youtube comment ever. I guess I am getting out of my comfort zone...Thanks Scott!
Everyone should watch this video regardless of what they are or are not dealing with. I have been trying to take these points into consideration quite a bit lately and it makes a huge difference in how my life plays out, whether or not it alleviates the "feelings". Really awesome video.
Thanks Scott. It does help. :) I know everything that you have said, but still, it's stronger than me sometimes. It's good to think about this from time to time.
Right now my anxiety comes because l haven't the vocabulary for explain all that you and your meaningfull help gave me lasts weeks when l've been sick in my bed... Thanks a lot Scott
This is a bit random I know, but I just wanted to drop a comment to say thank you, Scott. I've watched your videos for a long time now. When I first started struggling I found you channel, I watched all your videos and immediately felt a little less alone. And granted, I'm still where I was before. But I'm still fighting. I should be getting antidepressants soon, and hopefully everything may start to move forward:)
My best strategy that is working for me is fighting that irrational thoughts with counter rational arguments. The more irrational the thought the easier it is to forget about it since it’s easier to debunk. Anything else won’t work, trying to forget it will only make it stronger and larger as a thought. However I do feel very bad for those with the actual issue, those that deal with rational thoughts such as the death of a loved one, loss of a job, break up of a relationship, failing an exam or semester etc.
This i part of the CBT sessions...take those sessions, will help...for me, isn`t working for now, but it kinda helps when different sensations take me directly...with time, will be better
Hey Scott...I sent you a email and I am anxiously awaiting what your answer will be. I hope It's yes. Thanks for taking your time to help everyone deal with mental illness a little easier.
Some of the things you talked about I've learned in DBT. What you said about not using emotion reasoning and only using logic don't support DBT. In that theory practice, I learned "mindfulness". This taught me that we are supposed to use both emotion and logic mind together. Want to know your feedback about this learning style. Thank you for putting out videos that help many people :)
WORDS matter. For example, many years ago a 'friend' said to me that I was wallowing in my grief. My husband had left. It was a huge shock. I wish I had been able to stand up for myself but I was already crushed. Now I would say I am experiencing grief. And experiencing grief is natural. Not wallowing.
That point about no one having chosen depression hit quite hard. Logically, I know that, but there's always that voice in my head (I guess one of those unhelpful thoughts) going: Yeh, well maybe you deserve this... Thanks for your videos :) You have a very funny, relatable way of talking about this stuff. You seem to know your shit haha
6:43 is actually me that's always happens to me since i was 18 years and it still happens with me n this time I'm really suffering I couldn't help myself ! :*( 😩
Hey Scott, my name is Fernando, i'm a psychologist. I would like to thank u for your videos. Its inspired me, their really great. Are you a psychologist?
Is there any other way i can view the worksheet? The link wont let me open it. Would also like to say that you are so amazing and inspirational and you help so so much, i wish i could help people in the way you do.
Scott, how do I control my anger when people tailgate me when driving? There's not always overtaking lanes and people drive so close to me and I feel offended and it ruins my day. It takes a lot out of me to ignore them, but any tips to stop it ruining my day? My mind lingers on it afterwards, I just hate people and their dangerous driving
Jasper M Here is my suggestion. Imagine them crashing into somebody. It doesn't need to be deadly stuff but rather very annoying and expensive for them :) Enjoy the thought of those xxxxtards suffering from their stupid driving skills and the possible consequences. I think that's better than having rage attacks:)
I would think about it like this. They are most likely stressed to get everything they need to get done in a day, and isn't personal a good portion of the time. They could very well be having a bad day, or maybe there really struggling to be out in the world, and every obstacle feels like a mountain. It's better to say that we're all just human trying to make it through the day, and not take it personal! 😁
Hello Scott, may I ask can you sleep naturally without any pills? or you've already had sedative medication for a good night's sleep? I suffer sooooo much from insomnia which i think is the hardest to tackle...😔
I'm 13 minutes in and this is all me. I'm suffering eight months now from depression. I'm so exhausted man. I have a wife and three kids. I need to get out of this state of mind.

"if I kill that person, I won't be able to eat McDonald's anymore" -Emotional reasoning! Lol
Logic :P
Lol 😂
I love me some mc dss u love some my ds 😂😂😂😂😂
Greggy D I will never kill somebody with this rationale and I love it 😋
The part about trying to predict the future and the fear of the unknown is so me!! Anxiety sucks but it's not who I am!! Great video Scott!!
I love your optimism. I am 56 yours old and you are teaching this old dog, well not really... a dog. haha alot of good tricks. Finally learning to like myself for the first time ever and I thank you.

“Some old lady” that’s considered ageism and is rude! Someday you will be old and will want to be thought of with more respect than that.

Smart and handsome too. My trouble is worrying thoughts. Now that I recognize them I seem to repeat them even more. Frustrating
