Hello, I wanted to give campers a better alternative. Tornadoes don't always stay in their predicted paths and can change at anytime. People like me who live in tornado prone areas have another option. Public shelters!! Public shelters are popular with people who don't have a safe place at home. Find out the county you are in and do an Internet search for public shelters in that county. They open up normally when a tornado watch is issued. A tornado watch happens before a tornado warning. A tornado watch means that tornadoes are possibility in the area. A tornado warning is when a tornado has been spotted either by radar, by law enforcement, by trained spotters, and/or by the public and it is on the ground. You want to already be in a shelter when that warning is issued. It is extremely dangerous to be in an RV, any type of vehicle, a mobile home, and/or a structure with a wide span roof such as a gymnasium. Bridge overpasses are dangerous also. Don't try to outrun a tornado. Unless you are a trained spotter, you don't know which was it is going and under what conditions it will change it's direction. Even trained tornado spotters have been killed when out in the field chasing tornadoes. Cities which have had tornado touchdowns are more apt to have a public shelter. The county list for public shelters will give you information such as are pets allowed, is it handicapped accessible, is it FEMA compliant and other pertinent information. If you are in a site built home, go to the lowest floor away from outside walls, away from windows. Wear hard soled shoes (if your area is hit by a tornado and you walk in a tornado debris area, it can cut up your shoes), a helmet (most deaths are caused by flying objects which hit people in the head) and have a whistle and/or an air horn. First responders are trained to listen for air horns and whistles.

Thanks for watching, the Suma 2 held up well in the rain, no leaks. The walmart tent was an ozark trail 3 person tent. Hope you subscribe👍🏻
Nice video. I’m in japan watching this. I will be camping tomorrow.09/24/2020. Field test. With my. Field door. Canopy. Field Door tent
Awesome review 👍👍👍 Hands down how tents should be tested for real life situations..thank you for doing this..you'd be amazed how many people buy shitty tents and then get stuck in rough environments..👏👏👏
A good tent could make a big difference
@@LifeWithKernelLee Hi..its me again..I've been looking g on line for that tent and stores show the Northface "Sequoia" tent and I'm not sure if it's the same or if its different then the Stormbreak 2?? They look almost the same. Maybe it's been renamed??
@@freddyo2k10 i noticed that myself, they do look the same but not sure if it replaced it
this situation was getting 2 tents

Great video should have taken a nap and use the tornado siren as your wake up alarm LOL
Dr. Frank
Haha no doubt, thanks for watching
"Sirnens going off" LOL.
Yup, was a tornado not far from us
We used to camp in wrath of god gully washers and the interior of our tent never got wet.
Linda Terrell
Yeah ive been in tents that were not treated to be water proof and ive experienced water coming in during rains.
Life With Kernel Lee
It was a so called pop up some tent that we bought in 1982. From Walmart. We used it for 20 years, then sold it. Camped across the USA several times.
Linda Terrell
Wow that lasted a long time. Almost all Walmart tents that are sold in store are not treated for water proof
Brave dude!
What state you in?? I heard you say Saginaw. And I know there is a Saginaw Michigan.
Bill Mitchell
Im in Texas, just north of Fort Worth
so this video was primarily about the north face tent .. what happen to the eureka tent
ever forward , it only leaked around the roof vent but I thought it performed well. Was a bit flimsy in the high winds but overall I think it was a good shelter from the storms.
@@LifeWithKernelLee wow quick reply . thanks .. gearing up for the AT in march and this was the only video i could find on how the tent preformed in the rain ..
ever forward , it will do fine, its a good light weight tent as well. Ive backpacked with it a few times. Been a great tent thus far. Good luck on the trails and happy camping. Glad to answer any questions👍🏻
North face makes good tents.
Miriam Cooper
I agree, thanks for watching
Did you put seam sealer or anything on the tent/rainfly??
timothy trapp

Patti Brooks
Yeah i remember as a child my dad and i chasing storms. Was scary as a kid but also exhilarating. Thanks for watching and hope you subscribe
Mamamia ! That tornado was too close for comfort. Believe I would have watched the tents from the house.🤣 I was raised in Tulsa Oklahoma and have seen what tornados can do. Shew.
Patricia Nunez
Yeah it was pretty close, Ive seen a few in my days. Thanks for watching
this sounds and looks more like a tent review than a camping in the rain video
👍🏻
One gutsy guy!
Bobbie Mooser
Thanks for watching
No audio at end of video.
Weird
Good-looking guy, if you don't mind me saying.
👍🏻
Does water come into the tent from the ground?
Annette Millette
Hi there, thanks for watching and subscribing, no water comes through the floor material. It is water proofed more so than the rainfly.
@@LifeWithKernelLee ALWAYS WANT TO KNOW THAT
Annette Millette for sure😎
