Thanks for a great review. I just purchased a Top Luxe with confidence for my XL since the True Levels are unavailable.. Have you tried the Top Luxe in the Safari to see if your experience may be hammock related? Do you have any experience with an Expedited Megamat 10 in these? I saw one video showing the fit, but the presenter never got in the hammock. Lastly, "taco effect" is in reference to the sides curling in. Banana effect is the correct term for the foot and head ends curving up. Thanks again for your work, you've saved me a lot of headache wondering what to do with the standard pad.
@@scottbutler1561 i have used the top luxe with the safari, works great. No experience with the exped mat but do with the mondo king. The mondo king works well but not quite as good as the topo luxe. I use my standard pad in tents for normal camping. Seems to hold up ok for that.
Wow that is huge !! Looks like half teepee half circus tent !! Plenty of room in there for sure !! That stinks to see you still sweating down there !! Stay cool brother !! Nice review 👍🏼⛺️

Dang, that thing is big, and awesome!
@@FatMatAdventures sho nuff
Contrary to your setup. You should attach the Haven closer to the head end attachment point & further from the foot end attachment point. A offset shift raises the head end & lowers the foot end. It allows the Tensa4 frame to stay steady, letting the anchor strap take the load, with the center of gravity of the tent shifted further toward the head. Also attaching a second anchor strap at the foot end of the Tensa4 is a smart idea, it just needs to be a little slack, but always ready, to catch that end from "mousetrapping" if you cross the line, causing it to tip.
@@HawkKI4HEE yes sir
Im thinking about getting the safari with the true level pad for winter camping but im concerned about the weight limit. Im just under 250 and i think with winter camping gear and clothing id be about 10-15 lbs heavier. How does it do when you get a lot of weight in there?

I know we are suppose to travel with the propane off. Right? Turning the propane off is on my to do list after unpacking. Your valve is mounted right by the tire. A flat could possibly break your valve off. Propane on a hot brake rotor could go boom. Umm I see your blackstone has a LONG extension why not just install the fittings, you have already, to the propane regulator that you mentioned you already have as well. Same-same and no boob. Easy job for you but most of the people reading. This are new to the RV game as well and we should be giving out quality advice.
That propane line is already there from the manufacturers. I just plugged in a quick connect.
Thanks for reviewing this tent! I have been really impressed with the DoD gear I've bought. I've had my eye on this tent, but there aren't many videos other than Japanese set up videos, but none have the in-depth specs and shots that you've provided! I would love for you to do a test with this tent in weather! My only hesitation is that I live in the Pacific Northwest and I usually get a day or two of rain with each trip and I haven't seen many videos of Poly Cotton tents in heavy rain. Also, I hope they bring their Solo Soul Wow Wow tent to the US site. It's a similar idea to this but a bit bigger and taller. Thanks again, your channel rocks!
@@barfly79 thanks so much, I am definitely impressed with DoD. I have the Browning 1 person tent that is poly cotton and it did awesome in a storm. Backpacking Canvas Tent in a Thunderstorm/Browning Talon 1 ua-cam.com/video/2BDX4BqG_Kw/v-deo.html

@@cabledaug37 yes indeed, i think a caparison between the two is coming
This is very interesting it’s a cool idea matching it with the cot. I’m curious to see if you would get any condensation on the inside if it was closed up in a winter situation. Make a video the first chance you get and let us know . Good video brother 👍
@@bobbyoshields1703 yes indeed, anxious to camp in it.
@@LifeWithKernelLee I’m still stuck on making raised bed shelters because of my knees, that’s also why I liked the cot idea twenty five pumps and the right cot it’s a quick easy raised bed shelter I’m very interested in your combo tent system.
@@bobbyoshields1703 yes sir
I own a Dometic Pico 2x2 which is very similar to this product. However I feel like the air matress on the pico is slightly too thin for side sleepers whereas this one here looks much thicker. I can't imagine sleeping on a cot though as for me it always feels like laying in a half pipe instead on an even surface. If I was buying a swag again I'd rather get one with poles and a foam matress that just needs to be unrolled and better fits the swag concept.
If you have the right cot it is very comfy
Hello sir. Have you had any trouble with a bumper pull towing a second trailer? I used to do, myself, here locally in So California. We usually went to Glamis, California and sometime did the same thing around Yuma, Arizona. I never got a ticket. How was your experience? Have a good day. Roy, So Cal....soon to be from Ehrenberg, Arizona.
@@goodtalker howdy there, its been great, no issues thus far.
As a swag owner myself I feel like the Haven Safari (from your other videos) is like an "hanging swag". Just leave all your sleeping stuff inside (and the spreader bars in place), open the valve of the sleeping pad and roll the whole thing together. Your videos kinda convinced me buying the Haven and its the best thing ever.
@@Roman-nu1om you know I was just thinking that the other day. How the Haven is like a hanging swag.
@@LifeWithKernelLee maybe you should make a video about this? Even though I already got the Haven XL I'm still contemplating buying the Safari just for a dedicated "hanging swag" setup. (I'll probably wait with the purchase until the True Level Safari sleeping pad becomes available)

I just paid for one at $90, saw your video, cancelled the order, and bought it from Sierra! Thank you for saving me $30!
@@matthewquigley5221 awesome, glad you could save $$
The Safari needs its own "True Level pad" that isn't designed under the premise of being lightweight like these two pads here but rather burly and ruggedized like the old Safari pad was. I wanna order the Safari but it seems there is no ideal pad available right now?
@@Roman-nu1om the true level works great with it
Do you know if a rugged "Safari True Level" pad will be released anytime soon? Right now there is only the odd choice between the old Safari pad and the new True Level pad

Great video ... I purchased the true level xl Haven pad and it slowly deflated. Derek sent me a new replacement and it appears to be holding air. I haven't had the chance to test it out with the Haven tent in the backyard as of yet. TRUST? In the mean time I ordered the Thermarest Mondoking 3D xxl - because of your initial favorable review of the pad. I know that Thermarest has a great reputation. I question the dependability of the Haven pad. YOU NEED A SOLID PAD FOR THE HAVEN TO WORK!
@@thomasmeyers5899 i hear ya

@@jimyoquelet5005 very welcome, great swag
Great video, thanks for this good honest review. I got a Safari when they first came out and opted for an insulated pad at the time. It is made from a different material then the original one and doesn't have a plastic kind of feel to it. I too am a side sleeper so had the taco effect that you speak of. I watched the video you posted about your purchase and test of the Topo Luxe pad. I almost made the purchase of one and then Haven came out with the Level pad. I bought that and the rest is history. The Level Pad completes the Haven Sleep System IMHO. I just love it. It is far better than the bed I have at home. Thanks again for the great video!
@@BiznessWizard thank you, love hearing that. The pad is not the weak link anymore. The true level pad is the absolute way to go when purchasing a Haven. I know you’ll be camping in comfort.
Beautiful video
Thank you, its a beautiful tent
Don't order it if you are Canadian. You will be charged full price plus $300 for shipping and you won't get it. It will cost you nearly $1000.00 to not have anything but regrets
@@daveagar5594 oh wow, no good
Just to stay a bit objective here, shipping to Canada costs about 50-70$ and NOT 300$, I just checked. However you will be charged for shipping + duties + taxes which can indeed add up to nearly 300$ for a 700$ order but all of that is clearly broken down at checkout. So it's not like you didn't know about it when ordering.
