I'd love to see your design process... you seem to create these things so quickly, I'd love to see you do one from scratch... Like an SU27/30, or a Macross YF19
second that! how the heck can you crank out viable, extremely flight-worthy designs every other day?? ..... and he's way ahead of you: already built an amazing YF19-like original design --> dagger 1 for the win :)
The only reason Skunk works isn't calling him is because they are several steps further than this is propulsion tec. As long as he does not come out with gravity drives, they will sit back and watch. just saying.
Even watching you for some time now but I did not realise until you mentioned it on this one that you design them yourself! That takes this all to another level.
That is so cool! I've been into RC cars for 35 years or so but this really makes me interested in flying! We didn't have 3D printers or lithium batteries back then. It was nickel cadmium or nitro fuel. I hate those tiny engines! Our transmitters and receivers were on the 27 mhz band and anyone with a CB radio could interfere with everything. RC game has advanced like crazy! But yeah i want to fly
This is so cool. Recently got into RC planes this year and trying to learn more. Been watching these posts for the last week and this is so impressive. Very exciting progress. Keep it up the Dark Star is awesome
Don't forget Ben Rich of Lockheed. He headed up some VERY interesting vehicles 😉... Also, I can't help but wonder if counter rotating edfs may help prevent the left roll issue 🤔... OUTSTANDING 🎉❤🎉
The only thing I'd ask would be some index tabs at the parts joints. It helps line stuff up better but also gives more surface area in the joint for a stronger bond.
Scrolling down the UA-cam thumbnails, the word "Darkstar" in your title caught my eye..."Top Gun: Maverick" being one of my all-time favorite films! (I, too, have it on repeat!) Then, looking at the poster's name, I see it's posted by BUILT FAST, whose three NGAD videos I had just binge-watched in chronological order. As a former aerospace engineer, these aircraft models really excite me. Great design & fabrication work!!! Thanks for documenting & posting them!
Crazy and fantastic at the same time! Love it! Who doesn’t love a Skunkworks design? On a side note, maybe you could get a solar charger and charge a battery while you fly with other batteries, to get extra fly time. Can t wait for your next crazy thing!
Man, just came across your channel and i am hoojed brother. Incredible stuff. It soo cool seeing someone actually trying out unorthodox designs and seeing how well they translate to rc. If i could go as far as to suggest a potential design to try out, i would love to see a design if the cfa-44 nosferatsu. A very conventioanal design for a fantasy aircraft that would be awesome to see as a rc plane. Either way, keep up the awesome work.
You have to fly inverted to verify the CG location. It should require a touch of forward stick to fly level inverted. It should not climb by itself when inverted.
A beautiful effort, I envy your design abd build skills. I have pretty much given up on RC, at least until I can build some sub 250 gram aircraft. In our area I hesitate to fly without the FAA reguired ID numbers and transponder as e have way to many karens around. Keep up the great work !
almost done printing the FA/XX can't wait to fly mt first 3D printed plane if i did everything correctly. keep them coming! I want to print them all! Thank you.
Great!!! Keep your roll rate low! Everyone tries to initially run the control rates high without expo and they can’t handle the throws. If you’re an advanced pilot you don’t need to pay attention. Good luck!
@@hotlapkyle Thank you I will. I also put a gyro in mine too just incase. I will post some pics and video soon. gave it a sick paintjob I think you will like.
If at all possible, I would like to speak with you on your changes in aerodynamic shape to make this fly. I want to work it in CAD for a larger scale. I'm very impressed! Thanks for the video.
Im just spitballing.... some of your cg issues could be due to the airframe being more of a lifting body instead of relying solely on the wings. Just a thought. I love these builds!
If you could also do an electronics video as well that would be awesome. I know a bit about 3d printing but I have no idea what motors, batteries, wires, controllers, etc. To get, or even where to get them. Is there cheap options, what are the best overall options, and what are the top of the line money is no object parts so everyone can make the plane they would like. Seeing the process of where to route things and how they are mounted to get one of these flying would be awesome!
Beautiful work, I've only been on your channel for a few days but seeing your projects is great. Will you take some to the next level and make it bigger Do you sell your designs in cults?
So cool! Help very old RC glider pilot out. What exactly are you running for propulsions? I am totally unfamiliar with that type of propulsion system. (Motor) Maybe a link would help please and thank you. I do currently fly FPV quads so somewhat familiar with the electronics, setting up the TX & RX THANKS! John
Are you using clockwise and counterclockwise motors to null the rotational torque which may be causing the air vehicles to roll left especially noticeable when adding throttle.
Put a 5 gram camera in the nose with enough bandwidth to show on phone like door cameras? Maybe add internal ribs like gussets in the nose back to battery & hook / loop attachment.
Have you ever thought of using the soccer goal net as a means to capture yout models to avoid greater damage? I mean, as the nets they used on carriers when a plane couldn't use the hook/cable stuff.
Cool planes and videos! Have you considered or tried using spray foam to strategically strengthen the airframe? Some of the low-density stuff is said to be .5lb per cubic foot so I'd imagine the nose section that broke would only be an Oz or so.
This was the exact plane I wanted you to build after the last thrust vectored only plane. Can the dark star be vectored as well? Also please consider FPV footage :P
So cool. That thing flies awesome! Hey have you ever made the planes from Warhawk on the ps3? The warhawk and nemisis jets both had hover mode and jet mode. Would be neat to see them made in the rc world.
Do these electric engines spin the same direction?Or do you have them spinning towards each other to reduce the Centrifugal force pulling the aircraft 2 1 direction
Hi man, I'm interested to buying your files, but I need to modify them to increase the size of the plane and make some changes. Do you only provide STL files or can you also provide STEP files for solid modeling?
Anny idea at what speed they fly at ?. I am from denmark and do not have this hoby myself, but think it is real cool to look at. And the ingen sound is kinda cool to.
Show all aspect views of the aircraft... top, bottom, sides. Your head mounted camera jumps all around when on the ground (slow down those views) but it works fine for flying sequences.
You're definitely channeling that Maverick energy with all those head level flyby's.
I love it. I’ve been flying for 30 years but now you’ve inspired me to try an RC. Can’t get enough.
Sorry i needed to fix the audio, it’s not perfect from minute 2-6. Let me know what you think about the Darkstar!
Thanks man, awesome vid! glad to watch again!
man how do you keep out doing yourself. your on fire with the design/print/build/fly videos. great stuff keep it up!

the noise it makes is freaking awesome... 💜

Sick work. That’s a crazy plane. Well done man.
Brilliant! Great design work! 👍
That's beautifull! I really hope this and the NGAD designs make it onto your cults3d!

Love the wooosh
Loving the videos and your design process... each video I'm more tempted to buy a printer.
Woooow!! =) It is unreal what you come up with, it is amazing. am a fan,..
looks and sounds fictional, in a a big budget film way. so cool its got an amazing sound to go with the apex look

Very nice flying! I guess one parameter that it flies so well could be that the whole fuselage is designed as a lifting body.
Damn bud, amazing little unit!
Took off like a feather. 👍
Awesome ❤ How about building the most iconic "plane" ever - Tie Fighter, Star Wars. Impossible?
It has been done before... doesnt fly very great though.
Please can you make another video on how you make these jets
love the videos

What printer do you use? Materials? You need to get some fishing lures to find out how much weight is required to counter-offsets

What was that black dot in the sky at 2.36 seconds stays in frame for a couple seconds the shoots off to the left ?
Some think it’s a UFO or UAP lol 😝
What software are you using to design these?
what kind of printer do u need to print this stuff?
What's your top speed with this amazing RC jet?

Can you make a umx size viper jet? One which flies well enough to be more than a novelty?

Will it fly without vertical stabilizers?
I wish I knew how to use a 3d printer because I really want to print my own ideas i just cant understand the ytube videos about it
You're on the fast track to the skunk works fast tracking.
Did you ever think of sending up a drone that can follow people or objects on its own I think that would make a great video
Perhaps a foam board wonder but can it be made into a twin 120mm version? More speed more power.
Thx
Formula 1 is basically a motor car Arms Race.
DOPE !!!! POST IT ON CULTS!!!!
When do you get to paint your planes? The reason I say this is there are a number of paints that will strengthen the hull without adding to mass.
@@StephMcAlea I’d love to know what paint won’t add weight! Every paint I’ve used adds too much weight to fly with. I can sacrifice 10-15g at most
😮
Great to create something so cool 👌🏻🇬🇧
The plane whisperer
I'd like to see the tail replaced with a third (smaller) engine, where the tail would have been, with thrust vectoring at 90 degrees to the other two.
So when are you going to build fictional Ace Combat craft? Mainly, the Night Raven(rear facing cockpit?) or the Delphinus I, II, ot III from AC3...
Why not use transparent acrylic tape? I tape my 3D-printed planes and eve if you get cracks, it will not break apart.
Good idea
