- Here's why I love using the Pedal Pawn Texan Twang!
Ever been searching for a particular sound? Mine was SRV live in Tokyo! Although SRV never used this pedal, I can't deny how the sound and feel of this reminds of me that style of tone. Not that I'd say I'm there yet! But isn't it great when a piece of guitar gear takes you on a trip like that!
The backing track from this video was from Texas Blues Alley - Whiskey Wine & Gin. It's a great course with loads of Tin Pan Alley style guitar licks. Go check it out!
Please like this video and subscribe to my channel. It really means a lot!
I’ve only just discovered your videos. I’m really enjoying them. I really like SRV’s tone.
Thank you Chris! I'm a big fan of Stevies tone too. He had the magic touch on the guitar! I'm always trying. Thank you for checking out my videos.
Absoutely beautiful tone and playing, EC Just one Night, I guess ...
Ain't nobody going to get up and walk out on that tone. well done sir. I really need one of them pedals. I love treble boosters on a strat
Live in Tokio was a great show with great tones! Love it! In that show the Vibratone was on the whole time! Sick!!!
sounds nice. I loved the "in session" tone and his tone up until around 1985.
This pedal is basically a Dallas Rangemaster Treble Booster. ( Rory Gallagher, Brian May, SRV etc etcI) Just got one made called 'The Twangy One'....Wow! As good as if not better than the 'Texan Twang'....Absolutely awesome pedal. Get one folks. It changes the way you play because it sounds so good. Great demo by the way
The Twangy One was built by me 'RetroRanger13' so glad you like it, I'll possibly make a couple more at some point along with my other project builds with my new self laid out PCBs.
So there is no TS circuit in the Texan pedal? SRV used to run his rangemaster into a Tubescreamer. Would you recommend doing so?
It doesnt sound like a tube screamer and not like a range master, i own all three… its more like a mix of both, combined with some compression… different and less dynamic and open but perfect for the purpose!
@@johannesweber1347 ok danke. - Meine Überlegung war ob das pedal allein den sound der beiden Pedale simuliert und wenn ja zu welchen Grad. - Man müsste also weder TS noch RM zusätzlich benutzen. - Es wäre mal interessant einen Vergleich zu sehen TS+RM / TT.
Amazing tone and playing!
Thank you!
Very very nice!!!!
Awesome playing.
SRV ran a rangemaster into a tubescreamer which is basically mid-pronounced OD.
Is the Texan pedal only a booster or does it have a TS circuit built inside as well? If not would you run it into a tubescreamer?
it's more of a treble booster type fuzz circuit from my understanding. Interesting SRV didn't use one to my knowledge, but the sounds can be very SRV-like.
@@GrantPritchardMusic I read that he used a rangemaster into a Tubescreamer (TS10 in his later career).
Kickass! I wish I could do that
Beautiful man!
Thank you!
Sounds great man!!!
Thank you Norm!
Just received one of these - really digging it so far. The 'low' selection through a cranked and attenuated Deluxe Reverb is really something...
Oh, that is definitely something. Have you had it unattenuated?
@@unitoftemp Unfortunately I don't have much opportunity to play loud enough to run the amp full-out and hit it with the pedal at the same time, but even attenuated it sound pretty glorious.
Hi Grant love the video I've just bought a texas twang what setting do you use on your amp is it clean take care Graham
Hi Graham, slightly broken up/mildly naturally overdriven amp. Cheers!
@@GrantPritchardMusic thanks for that mate take care
Hi Grant, do you use the ox with the super reverb? All the best
Hi Julian, I use it with my Bandmaster Reverb so that it matches the amp impedance.
Maybe include what amp you’re using and pickups? Not providing a frame of reference does little to help assess what change in tone the pedal provides.
I bet his amp does 70% of job done, soundwise.
Fender bandmaster reverb with mf guitars 59 reserve v.2 pickups
@@GrantPritchardMusic i got my texan twang and surprised how much dialing I’m doing to get a tone close to yours. Did you keep your guitar’s volume knob rolled back as Pedal Pawn suggests?
Glorious playing by the way, really pleasant to listen to. I like how your own flair comes through.
@andrew wheeler guitar hi Andrew, I always set my amps to be on the edge of break up. I then turn the volume down depending on the situation. This pedal is really good when you turn the volume down and I will have used that here. Hope this helps! Thanks for checking out the video.
Hi Grant hooe you're OK loved your playing and tone after seeing this video I had too have one i got it today what amp setting did you use was it clean or distorted take care
Hey! I was using a late 60s bandmaster reverb. Set the volume to around 6-8, lots of treble and mid and bass around 3 or 4. I use that as a starting point with this type of sound, but it depends on the room.
Wow! Excellent tone! I have a Fender Champion 100, in your opinion, although it is not a tube amp, can I expect a similar sound? Thank you for your help.
For me personally I always prefer a good tube amp. However I've seen players have a great sound with solid state amps! If you can get a great sound with your hands, then you're half way there no matter what gear you're using.
is the backing track synchronized with your recorded solo? because it seems your timing is constantly too early
It could very well be! I was just getting into making videos/recording for the first time at this stage. I encountered latency issues a lot at first.
I wonder how stevie create that clean sound in some performances. I know he didn‘t use a Texas Ranger Treble Booster but often it sounds like that to me. It‘s strange.
Fuzz pedal volume rolled back
I heard or read somewhere that Cesar Diaz modified Stevie’s amp with the circuit as well....?
Tasty playing and tones in the opening, however, not sure we heard your clean unaffected tone, which is always important. Likewise, while I saw a Fender amp in the background , also didn’t hear your signal chain. If I missed it my apologies.
Hi Adam, I totally get what you're saying. Because this pedal changes drastically with the volume setting on your guitar, I instead focused on showing those stages opposed to the bypassed signal. The amp was a fender bandmaster reverb.
Where can i buy one?
You can buy one from the pedal pawn website.
Amazing discover Man amazing video and gear, subbed! Check my hendrix stuff if u want , maybe u will dig it too! Thanks for sharing brother
