- In this video I finished the belt sander. I put the engine of an old machine and applied the paint.
The machine was running smoothly, but need a more powerful engine.

It's functionally simple, which is perfect. I'd love to be able to build Jeremy Schmidt's, but this can get me going and for that I say thank you.
I just started trying to make knives and quickly realized I need a good grinder, and then realized even quicker, they are expensive! This design looks like the one to go with, simple, no frills, and it should work. Thanks for the nice build!
I realize a wood machine is not as reliable as a metal one but by golly I'm building this. Thanks for the step by step video.
reliable?
that tracking mechanism is so simple yet effective! I'll take that idea to my own machine. Great build!
From both of your sander projects you have earned another subscriber my friend! Looking forward to MORE.
my favorite 2 by 72 build on you tube
among best channels ...thanks for sharing us your works
very nice work, simple and effective like the life should be, thanks from France
very well done Sir, simple and clean design. I have already built mine except for the tension bar with tracking wheel as I was waiting for my belts to get in. I was just using scrap things that we had left over from salvage yard runs. my cost has been a couple bolts and the belts, a far cry from what one would cost.
Great simple machine, thanks for sharing it.
Great build and I really enjoyed the piano music you used.
You might find find you get a lot of wear with a wooden platen behind the belt, you could use steel plate on its own or face the wood platen with a thin steel plate for better wear. Very sweet build however, I like the simplicity of it all but especially the tension arm and tracking adjustment. Nicely done!
A thing of beauty! was waiting for part 2 thanks for sharing
Thanks

Sir, this is probaly the best DIY of a belt grinder I've ever saw! If it's ok with you, I'll inspire myself in your project to do one for me. I'll replace th pulleys for skateboard wheel's and power it up wit an electric motor. Thank's for sharing this wih the world. Hail from Portugal.
I also thought use skate wheels. It seems a good idea
Um trabalho muito bem feito. Beautiful work, beautiful machine. Parabems de Tasmania.

Надо было чёрным покрасить, или лаком вскрыть, а так сама конструкция супер!

Trabalho show,valeu.
Top top build. Do you have the plans?
Sorry. I have no plans
How does the tracking adjustment work?
good job.
It is beautiful.
How many watts is the motor?
Thanks. 375 Watts. But it should be 750watts. I have a new model under construction, with plans already made.

do you think it'll last till this time 2017?
why do you put a hard disk or cd ?
Very useful idea! What size motor did you use? And, what size do you think would work in the way you wanted?
The motor is 1/2 hp (about 350Watt). I think it is necessary 1 hp.
me gusta
👍 😉
are those hard drive disks?
Yes.
+From The Wood nice!
Do you sell the plans to build the belt grinder
No sorry. I have no plans.
would you sell this? if so how much.
😮
are you willing to make one for sale with out the motor?
desculpem, mas não. Estas máquinas em madeira não têm resistência para trabalhar sem dar problemas. Não têm fiabilidade que permitam a venda. Obrigado de qualquer modo.
what kind of wood was that green stuff
MDF
then why is it green not brown
Because it is MDF waterproof
Only thing I need now is an engine problem is not sure what kind any of you lovely folks have any suggestions?
Treadmill motor, lotsa' people use these. They can be controlled easily with an a/c controller and bridge rectifier.
huh cool :3 thanks
Use a washing machine motor.
Bom dia.
Bom dia. Não tenho planos. Conto vir a fazê-los em sketchup. Nessa altura envio-lhos.
