Having spent a few nights in Eigg earlier this year I agree it’s a special place and people. Thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories and portraying the island so well.
Great to see these small communities thrice after they buy ( from what I understood ) the land they live on and work on. Come to think of it, as a foreigner, it's hard to wrap my head around one entity ( real estate company ? Local landlord, head of a wealthy clan dating back way back when? ) owning a whole island, where dozens if not hundreds of people have lived for decades. Keep up the good work & the community there
SpendingThree nights in Mallaig in early July. Hoping to visit Eigg and maybe squeeze in a wee jaunt over to Armadale on Skye. Thanks for the short Eigg insight.
You're welcome. Have a great time in Mallaig. There's a film about Mallaig on the channel, as well as trips from Mallaig to Inverie and Muck. The choice of boat trips is so tempting.

Thank you. Yes, it's a little diamond of an island.
Great film! Very inspiring to hear how this island community is thriving.
I agree. Really inspiring!

Yes, Eigg is a great example of community ownership. However, there are still many islands in Scotland who rely on their owner being benevolent.

@@eyescotland Five days in Oban beforehand. Hope to visit Easdale and Luing and have booked Tiree on the Clansman midweek.
@@johnscot1 Love Tiree. Still not made it to the Slate Isles though. Great trip!
are they accepting new families?.....big families of 9, and everyone can work except Jedidiah who is only a few months old.
It's all a question of housing. I suggest you contact the Eigg Community Trust.
