- The best Rocket League Players play on PC, so what happens if they switch...to switch. Chaos. I've got two high level supersonic legends (basically pro) who will 2v2 every rank until they lose. What rank are they on the switch? Can they make it all the way back up to SSL and be good enough to overcome the obvious challenges of going from PC to switch?

all those defending the switch - I have nothing against it, it's obviously not the "PRO" choice, but it's a fine system, I adore mine. The point of the vid was to simply have SSLs who are normally on PC, switch to the basic form of switch w/ joycons and see them fail a little for our entertainment. These guys are literally 0.001% of player base in terms of skill, so this was to see how much that changes!

Yeah we feel you, this is more about them using bad controllers, which joycons happen to be. Could have been any bad controller and the video would have been the same outcome really. I play on switch and I use a Pro-controller, ya know, an actual usable controller. Game plays fine with that and based on your pun I'm sure you know it too

This makes me happy that i'm champ 2 on switch and the ssl's didnt make it to gc on switch. Yh it was probably the first game and they're not used to using joycons but still makes me happy
Yeah, the buttons on the joycons can be uncomfortably small, along with the occational joycon-drift. Thats why i switched to a pro controller. But i still feel good getting to Diamond 3 on switch :)

I'm a Japanese playing on Switch with a pro controller, I'm up to GC2 for 3v and 2v and GC1 for 1v. I've reached GC2 for 3v and 2v, and GC1 for 1v. I play on American servers with high ping because there are few people in Asia and it's hard to get matched.
I'm very happy to see this video and know that I have a good chance of getting to SSL if I play on PC!

Would've been cool to see switch ssl vs pc ssl just to see how big of a difference there is
if someone plays switch, they have cross platform on (at least past around plat 1) otherwise queue times take ages. Skill levels should be about the same, maybe a little more consistent on PC but shouldn't change the match itself by too much.

One major downfall for switch players vs other consoles that use controller is the triggers are digital and not analog making dribbling a little awkward on switch you have to learn to feather your gas cause there's no "sweet spot"
thats what kbm players have to deal with as well
Yeah that's true the other problem with switch is fps is locked significantly lower and most switch players keep their settings in the default for graphics which causes a decent amount of input delay

I’m a C2 on pc and I was able to reach D2 on switch, u just have to position really well to minimize the amount of mechs u need to use

it would be cool to do a test to see which console has superior rocket league players. maybe grab some ssl's from xbox, playstation, and switch and set up a bracket for them to play against each other to settle the debate on which console is best.
I think the only ssl's on switch are in rumble gamemodes, well last time i checked atleast

As a switch player myself, the hardest part is hitting the ball well, as you think sometimes you will get a powerful hit but in reality the ball just stops on your car or you just double jump over it. Sometimes it's pretty hard to know where you are going with the ball, but it makes it pretty fun and more satisfying when you hit a cool goal.

I played on switch for 4 years only to get Diamond 1. I had 1.5k hours. Then I got a pc and got champ within a month. Now I'm steady c3.

As a Switch player i can say its really hard to play if u have Joycons, but u can use a pro controller to play better. When my pro controller turns off and i have to use my joycons is impossible to play and i lose

The joycons aren't that bad tbh, they just suck as a controller but I play with them about as good as I do with my 8bitdo pro+

the reason i wont change from playing on switch is literally bc i feel like the joycons are the best controller for rl aha. i have small hands and i also prefer the box layout as opposed to regular angled controller styles. but yeh they disconnect a lot and the left analog gets drift pretty quickly. gotta add thumb grips too cause normal sticks are a lil low. anyway im rambling but i love playing on switch despite the issues ^^

Switch is actually easy if you think about it. I have come very far on switch and haven’t played for a full 2 years yet. Glad to see some high ranks play on my platform and other people’s platform. Makes me feel happy and not alone, keep making videos with different ranks on different platforms!
I started playing on Switch and by the time I hit Diamond it felt like the system is really holding me back, because the game just wasn't doing what I wanted to do, when I wanted to do it. Luckily I got myself a good PC and the first time I booted up RL I hoped into freeplay and tried to dribble and airdribble the ball which has been an uncontrollable mess on Switch and I instantly was like: "WHAAAT I CAN ACTUALLY DO THIS? I feel SCAMMED!!"
@SantiDJ74 yeh I also got stuck in c3, even though I improved a lot. I guess the community as a whole is improving at the same pace.
Not me, personally didn't have issues dribbling or air dribbling on switch compared to PC w Xbox controller. It took a few minutes to get used to but it worked for me

I'm a Champ 1 on switch and i can confirm that playing on switch is difficult.
Between the 30-60 (most of the time it is around 30) and input lag it can be hard to compete.
I play most of the time on a switch connected to a tv so it isn't too bad, but when I play handheld, it can get bad. At least I can say that I am better than these SSLs (mechanics wise) by a decently wide margin though.
It's interesting to see non switch players try and play on it hope people can stop giving switch players a bad rep after seeing this.
if you played in docked it definitely is capped at 60 with no fluctuations, I actually have 50hrs on my switch and it is very playable with a pro controller docked to the TV, I also use the pro controller for RL on PC because it just is an amazing controller. But nothing really beats playing the game at 165hz whenever possible on PC, makes life so much easier
gold 3 on switch, having the switch docked made my joycons delayed so i usually play in handheld more

I play RL on Switch, It's really annoying when my left JoyCon starts drifting in the middle of a fairly intense point in the match. This, combined with my lack of game sense or mechanical skill, is probably why I've peaked at only Plat 3 (in rumble)
hey, try increasing the controller deadzone! You'll have to push the stick further for you to turn but it should hopefully stop your drifting issue, I know it did for me
AMEN. Drift is one major downfall to switch. I play with half a joycon and am diamond 2 so goes to show anythings possible😂
But that is not the systems fault. It is your responsibility to look after your joycons
No it's a global problem that actually got sent to court and Nintendo got sewed over it. Newer joycons have been fixed to not drift so I should hopefully get one of those or send mine to be repaired since you can get em fixed for free by Nintendo because of the court case.

@@wjays watch replays and find where YOU make mistakes. You will realize you aren’t as good as u think u are lol. For every goal you give up, find a way you could’ve prevented it. Even if it clearly looks like your tm8 sucks, look back and find one thing that you could’ve done to not get scored on. My rank would shoot up whevever I would decide to start watching replays again. It’s boring but the best and quickest way to get better

i think now you should give them their prefered controller and hook that to the switch...
i feel a lot of the mistakes were down to not being used to the controller (they are crap)
on switch, i managed to rank up to just a few divisions below my regular rank, however i am using a 3rd party controller which helps a lot.

@@Sur3sT If you put the switch on the thing where you charge it and plug it to a tv or monitor, RL runs at 60fps but you get some imput lag.

As someone who plays on the switch, this is really relatable. The way they miss when the ball comes to them etc. It really shows why it can be an disadvantage for switch RL players. I'm at gold/platinum rank rn and I still make those mistakes.(I think its about getting used to it).

You should do a vid where you get a switch player,preferably a switch lite player due to handheld only, and give them a pc, and see how much better they get. As a switch lite player myself in plat 2, it would be interesting to see the difference a pc makes.
I basically did that and climbed from gold to champ. Pc made a world of difference

I recently hit champ 1 in 2v2 with switch and it was very hard, I was hardstuck in diamond for a few months or so. Like every 30 seconds, my game randomly freezes and I lost so many games because of that. Also sometimes my car randomly decides to not flip or to not drive forward

Playing on switch isn't the worst it's just the difference from 240 fps to 30 makes mechanics so much different on switch but people still reach champ or gc on switch and when they switch to like pc their mechanics become smoother and will most likely let them rank up a little easier

I agree. Sometimes I think imput delay helps me with double taps, or I’m just good at double taps.
Rather a higher ping if they used it with wifi because I guess they normally use their PCs with Ethernet cable or atleast they'll have a more capable network card. Btw I "switched" from switch to PC too and it was a ping change from 40-70 to 5-20 and it definitely made it a lot better
This was really interesting to watch. I play on switch and I'm low diamond. I was expecting the SSL's to be much better, I didn't think it'd be that much of a handicap.

it's still terrible on a TV, the fps isn't locked at anything, performance mode floats between maybe 30 and 50fps, this unstableness makes controlling the car and hitting the ball properly near impossible

The input delay is incredibly painful on switch, i was gold 3 in 2s on the switch then i got a PC and i went right up to diamond 2, my mechnics arent better, only ariels but thqts because i can get up quicker because of the input delay lol
Yeah, I was stuck in silver on switch, but when I switched to pc, I soared to plat within 2 weeks.
The switch has a condroler like the exbox one, with that it isnt that hard
Reminds me of when I went on my trip, consistent champ 3 on PC, but on the trip I had to use my switch, it was tough to try and even push to diamond, solid plat 3 div 2 on switch

Ngl playing on switch is no harder than console, it’s just the shape of the controller things that makes it worse but you just have to adjust your hands a little. But idk about compared to pc
You could buy a pro controller but the real problem is the fps wich should be 30 but never are usually its between 25 and 15.

I play with an Ethernet connected to my switch and I play on NAE...With Ethernet I get average ping of 60-80 with a capped at 30fps. Whithout ethernet i get average 120+ sometimes going into 200+ and all the bad horsemen of lag and also capped at 30 fps.

What the hell, I only understood the video correctly after it ended. I figured Bolting and Jay were SSL's on Switch, and their enemys are normal pc players in their ranks.
