Hey man, regardless of whether some people felt the scheme was a tad unfinished we still appreciate the quality of your tutorials, I've learnt so much more from cult of paint for really quality army painting which many channels don't seem to quite get so just wanted to say thanks!

@@cultofpaint Exactly and coming up with schemes is so hard sometimes, as it can change so quickly how you feel about an idea once finished but I honestly really dig the scheme, you could go through an army quickly with that, I think if the trim had maybe some more surface damage like scratches or metal shining through it would be an army scheme I'd be very happy with. I can just imagine those chaos knights having marched through dusty ashy wastelands for days or weeks

  • @Mabufu381

I think burgundy or black trim would make this scheme work really well, especially if you do the ones you’ve not done that colour and leave some of the gold ones in as brass. I think at the moment the values are all quite close across the model and the dark black will help bring the metallics out more. I love that grey though, totally might have to steal that for mine as ive hummed and ha-d for a while over a more neutral colour i could run as undivided/any mark.

Another high quality-video from the guru of achiveable paint-schemes! Imo your tutorials always make sense and once more I got that "maybe just one more army, i can complete it this time!"- feeling
Don't worry about any " not enough contrast here or there" or "maybe this or that colour instead" comments... one can ALWAYS do more or different things.

This is some useful stuff as I embark on a similar project (knights are so good in the new book and I want to run 20). However, I wanted to specifically shout out how much I appreciate you posting something you felt didn't work (including the autopsy, as it were); it's very easy to consume tons of tutorials and finished works and get into your head that the pros get everything right on the first try, and then start doubting yourself when that's not what happens. It's a process, and videos like this help peel back the curtain.
I look forward to seeing this project develop!

Looks great, Henry. I'm looking to do a very similar scheme on my World Eaters - grey and brass - and this has helped a lot. I'm using the exact same S75 Decayed Metal and Citadel Runelord Brass for the metals. I decided early on that I really want to go in on using oil paints with filtering for my army, so picked up a fair few Abteilung paints for it - Bitume, Light Rust, Dark Rust, Dark Grey as well as the full Naval and Grey Effects set. I'd love to see you use some oil paints for this army as I'm struggling to get the effects I want at the moment and you using a similar scheme would help me out so much!

I honestly think verdigris is overrated from an aesthetic point of view, specially because the way you do it its lacks textures. And like rust its a corrosion and should dmg the affected areas.
Rust and Verdigris can't be skiped by applying oil washes, they have to be properly modeled before the painting stage to look good..
