What is fucked up in this whole story to me, is that Char, BECAUSE he doesn't want to becomes the leader of the Zeon Remnants, basically throws Haman, still a 16 year old girl, into the viper's nest before leaving her alone into Axis. Char by leaving Axis forced her to become what she became by Zeta.
One line that struck me because of this manga in Char Counterattack is him saying at one point "Fall, Axis, and take down your dreaded memories with you". I know the manga is ad hoc, but with its context it makes that line even more tragic, as Axis is the symbol of what could have been for him.

Bright and Judau were hit hard from the years of conflict they both witnessed however Judau didn’t runaway. More tried to set off to try and make a newtype paradise.
Despite UC being filled with conflict a decent lot of people survive each show, even more counting mangas such as F90.

Oh boy, where to begin with this one? "Nobody understands UC Gundam", and it's clear this applies to you as well. First of all, CDA is not canon so anything presented there is irrelevant. Second of all, the whole message of UC Gundam is that it's a rejection of the Great Man Theory. This is spelled out clear as day with the ending of CCA where Char, portraying himself as the savior of mankind, is thwarted by the combined wills of Humanity channeled through the Nu's Psycho Frame. Char/Haman/Gihren/Deikun/Scirocco etc could NEVER bring peace to the UC because they were all more interested in using newtypes as pawns to solidify their own power over nursing them as the heirs of humanity. In UC it's demonstrated time and time again that peace can only be established when the individual makes an attempt to understand their opponent, which no government, not the corrupt democracy of the Federation nor the Dictators mentioned above, can do. That is what Amuro was telling Char during the Axis Shock incident. As is your entire video is just bad fan fiction.

I thought one of the points you kind of glossed over that can be expanded upon is the trend in the entire Universal Century is the fact that characters are emotionally immature and regressive BECAUSE of war. All of the seeming emotional sociopathy of not only adult military industrial complex participants but also the children used as tools by that complex, originate from the old type psyche of solving problems through dehumanizing conflict.

That's why I like the UC so much it's realistic in that the small details can make the biggest difference, don't believe me? Look up the British soldier who didn't shoot a german soldier who later became the dictator who started the second world war. The smallest of choices and sometimes smallest of kind acts can lead to horrible consequences and you get that in the UC gundam time line most of the time. Also the one year war is mirrored of the second world war which is a really nice touch and works for a war story that is at it's heart anti-war.

Ehhh I still lay most blame at Char's feet. He could have easy claimed his throne by the time of Zeta and pushed space towards a better future. Hamon would have willingly followed him no matter what he chose. She had him beat multiple times at the end of Zeta but kept trying to get him to join her almost to the point of begging. As for Mineva if Char was so bothered by her being used he could have easy taken on that responsibility. If he was worried about in fighting he could have declared Mineva his heir burying the hatch between him and the Zabis once and for all.
Most of the cast of zeta would have lived if they had neo zeon aiding them in the battle against the titans ehh its al rather sad.
The main issue with Char was he could never get over the past and he was afraid to take responsibility for his father's legacy. Instead only choosing to take his fathers name when he planed to used it to go out on one last over dramatic suicided riding a rock in to earth.
Reinhard from legend of the galactic heroes is every thing Char could have been.

Really? Char seemed the least at fault to me, certainly in his initial choice not to take up his father's legacy. He, probably better than any other character in the entire Gundam series, understood the dangers of political radicalisation and putting power in the hands of a charismatic dictator.
Besides, why should it be the responsibility of one man to push humanity towards a better future? Like Yang said in LoGH, it's the people who want an easy life, who don't want to solve their own problems by their own effort and wait around for some saint or superman to show up from somewhere and shoulder all their troubles by himself who deserve most of the blame. Which is literally every other major character in the series.

He even managed to push for reforms in the federation but all of that is thrown out the window when he returns as a genocidal mad man.
He went in to hiding and watched the world go further to hell, than he came back gathered the broken weak spacnoids under him playing the part of their messiah just to finish a personal grudge. He used Quess and Guss and all of Zeon as tools just so he could have his big dumb fight with Amuro and go out with one last big bang riding a meteor in to the planet. He doesn’t even care about his father’s ideals by the end of it he just wants to die in a big dramatic way.
He tries to use Quess against Amuro to hurt him and when Amuro turns it back on him revealing that Quess was looking for a father figure in his pain Char lashes out at Amuro in a childish way blaming him for Lalah’s death even though he had forgiven him back in OG gundam.
Char is not the Yang of Gundam that is Amuro. Char is a weak version of Reinhard who could not see things through till the end. Don't get me wrong I feel bad for Char but at the end of the day he screwed every thing up, got Himself and Amuro killed and left Mineva and the people of Zeon alone in a dark world that hates them.

@@kinggundragon3728 Oh man, Char in CCA was a clusterfuck of a character. I'm not even going to try and rationalise who he became or what he did because honestly, it doesn't make any sense to me. His character was totally contrived for plot purposes, turning him from a pragmatic sociopath to a sentimental psychopath.
But if we were to hypothesise about how he ended up at that point...I don't think that Char would have ever ended up in a position of political leadership (that gave him the power and resources to buy a literal asteroid) if it wasn't for others enabling him into that position. In Zeta, he was clearly happy with his freedom as Quattro Bajeena, and while he had aspirations for humanity they were, well, humanitarian. Not ideological and certainly not radical.
Throughout CDA and Zeta, Char is in a sense groomed to take political power. Yes, I'm talking about 'you should be a human sacrifice' Amuro, 'you have no choice' Kamille and even 'you're the hope of all Spacenoids' Muharaja Karn. After Zeta, Char presumably takes all this to heart and decides he has to be the one to fill the galactic leadership vacuum and take the class struggle into his own hands (or at least that's the only way I can understand CCA Char's motivations). Not that it justifies his mystifying genocidal tendencies in any way, but my point is just that CCA-Char type dictators don't pop out of thin air. They are created through the inaction of others who, instead of stepping up to the plate themselves, shove all their hopes and expectations onto one dude with a convenient family background. And then they have the gall to take the moral high ground when everything goes wrong.
I don't think Char is anything like Reinhard or Yang by the way. It was just a quote I thought was applicable. If anything, his pragmatic consequentialism is a very Oberstein kind of thing, though his mommy issues definitely remind me of Reuenthal.

@@user-ef1xv2qi3k I have always felt like Char is meant to be a tragic character but the execution of the events to get him there failed. I feel like he should have returned in ZZ and that should have had the final events to make him in to CCA Char. That artist guy in one of the Africa episodes should have just been Char trying to pull a obi wan kenobi hiding out after what happen to Kamille. He and Amuro should have both returned after Haman dropped the colony on Ireland with Char wanting to kill her and viewing her as his mistake much like he did in zeta.
Char should have played the part of the mentor to Judau while Judau would be voice for all the people drug in to war trying to soften a jaded Char. By the end of it Judau should have convinced Char to try and reason with Haman once more. The final fights should have been Judau fighting Glemy while Char has a final confrontation with Haman and Amuro having to fight all of the Ple clones that were loyal to Glemy.
During Char and Haman’s fight they should have been forced to share a link thus showing each other how they view the events up to this point and ending with Char talking Haman down and agreeing to take her and the remnants of Zeon away to the far reaches of space. This would have been Char’s highest moment having proven both his father and Lalah right that humans can change. That they can come to truly understand each other only to have it all come crashing down when the federation shows up and a random federation soldier kills Haman while she is still linked to Char. This trigging his PTSD brought on by Lalah’s death.
Char would then have to watch as the federation slaughter what remains of Haman’s forces while Amuro holds him back. At the end of it all Judau would leave for Jupiter having been fed up with how things turned out but still hoping for a better world. He would try to get Char to come with him but Char would refuse promising that he wouldn't let this ever happen agaiChar n.
Then we would enter CCA with a jaded Char trying to end the federation once and for all. One major difference is ied have Kamille and Sayla both confront Char and try to talk him out of his madness. Only to have him reply that he is doing every thing for them. Having Char view it as the federation would never forgive zeon. They would forever oppress and murder spacnoids and he being the only one who could stop it. The final bit would be him blaming Amuro for being unable to save any one and being the tool of the federation. With them only reaching understanding after he blames Amuro for Lalah’s death and they link and then it would end with them reaching understanding and stopping axis at the cost of their lives. Also I would have Amuro have a son it was really dumb that they took that out of CCA.

For me UC Gundam was a franchise about anti revolution. Revolutions often lead to wars. If you view people like Zeon Deikun for example as Karl Marx, rise of radicalism in general, even though in Gundam they never talk about the economic side of Zeon, only the ideological side, so we never get to see if they're Socialist or not, but honestly that is besides the point as they focus more on the Ideological aspects, like how Marxist were Class Socialist, or the Nazis were Race Socialist, while Fascist were Social Nationalist. We only need to look at the Ideological side of Zeon to see that they were Socialist, a blend of Class/Racial Socialist, at times emulating Marxism, and at other times Emulating the Nazis Racist ideology replacing Aryans with Newtypes. Either way the Zeons divided Society into groups. Spacenoids, Earthnoids, Lunarians and Newtypes. So they have the Hallmarks of a Radical Socialist Ideology like Marxism or Nazism. Ironically Fascist didn't believe in dividing Society into Classes, as it was counter productive to Nationalist tendencies. The Nazis replaced Fascist Nationalism with Racism ie you could only be German if you were Ethnically German, which is quite different than Italian, Hungarian and Spanish Fascism. So it's why it's best to place the Nazis into their own Racist driven category. As it wasn't a core requirement of Fascism but is for Nazism. Fascist didn't believe in a Racial Theory of History but the Nazis did, and there is no question that many Zeons are devoutly racist toward Earthnoids. Gundam never talks about the Economics of the universe, but does the Ideological, as it's the Ideological elements that are most dangerous, the elements that justify murder, death and war. Also it's quite ironic that despite the Newtype theory championed by the Zeons say Newtypes develop in space a large chunk of Newtypes actually spent much of their lives on Earth.
That being said that Anti Revolution message is perhaps the most important. Siding with any faction or group that denounces another out of hate/spite and jealousy are not groups people should be wanting to Associate with. I think that is the main point of Gundam. It's also why Amuro gives that Anti Revolutionary Rant at Char during Char's Counterattack. It is why Marida Cruz in Unicorn describes the Zeon ideology like a Religion. The entire point of the Gundam franchise at least under Tomino was to educate a new generation of the dangers that lead to much of the suffering throughout the 20th Century. Radicalism, Revolution, the danger of Radical Ideologies that have Irrational demands that can never be met, only to use the fact their enemies never meet their demands as justifications for conflicts/wars. You see it in the streets of the USA today with all the riots tragically, people demanding something that is almost impossible, either ignorant to the fact their demands literally can not be met without creating a huge danger to society then radicalist using those failures of those demands not being met to riot, destroy property and harm people. That is the cycle. That is how the Nazis and Marxist justified murdering millions as their was no rational way to deal with their 'questionable' problems you know the groups who were considered problems. Problems that couldn't be fixed by rational means because their ideologies at their core were not rational to begin with so no rational solution would ever fix their perceived problems.

Eh-- U.C. Gundam would have turned out a lot better had Degwin Zabi and Zeon Deikun not had such conflicting views on how to break from the Earth sphere that Degwin felt he needed to have Deikun killed to save their Republic. It would have turned out better had Char been killed when he first encountered the Gundam. It would have turned out better had Char not betrayed Garma and had him killed as Garma wanted peace with the Earth and would have been a force to prevent the fighting getting so bad. It would have turned out better had Char not assassinated Kycillia and instead left on White Base or been killed by the explosion he caused.
It would have turned out better had Char not gotten involved in the whole A.U./Titans conflict as his involvement caused Sirocco and Haman to get involved and for the Titans going from the force that was locking down a repeat of Operation Stardust to aligning with their worst enemies and acting to repeat it.
Hell, it would have turned out better had Char merely been killed when his father had been assassinated. The one man who was responsible for the continuation of all the conflict was Char 90% of the time-- so nit-picking the one instance where he wasn't entirely responsible seems flimsy.

Much like actual history the UC has ALOT of forks in the road where things could have gone differently (with some alternative forks being explored) and often some getting a heavier share of the blame then others with how things turned out. A good example is the lead up to WWI where there are a surprising number of points the entire thing could have been averted.
Char while the reason for alot of continued conflict is "usually" not doing so willfully as CDA lampshades with the fact he is constantly being pushed by people around him to become the "savior" and leader of zeon but repeatedly refuses to take the role cause he's never wanted to become that. Some would even argue Char's Counterattack is simply him being done with it all and taking the role purely out of spite and a desire to go down in one last fight with Amuro more then any true desire to see Zeon rise.

If I were Char in Zeta, I'd have gone full romance with Haman Karn and have Mineva Zabi as our surrogate child. All the while, I'd take full leadership of the AEUG and steer Mineva towards a more Zeon Deikun-esque approach to politics, so when she ascends the throne, she'd do what's right. Axis and the AEUG become one force, we knock the stuffing out of the Titans but instead of destroying them, we'd also assimilate them (probably put someone like Scirocco in charge after executing Bask Om and Jamitov for war crimes) and there you have it. The perfect end for the Gundam franchise.

Why was Char's girl iced? Did the pro-war faction do it? Didn't they want to control him through her? Was it decided to try and demoralize him by murdering a loved one, and thus force him out of the political picture? If they knew he was Casval Daikun, how could they not understand his role in the Zabi downfall? Did a different faction kill her in order to turn Char into an attack dog against the pro-war faction? There are some wierd contrivances in this manga.

Stardust was going to happen no matter what Char did. Stardust was acted upon by loyalists to the late Girhen Zabi, we see this in the attitudes of Captian Delaz and Anavel Gato. These people were Zeon fanatics, and as Operation Stardust was still going to happen it's likely the Titans were still going to form. It's just Stardust's outcome would be heavily different, likely there wouldn't have been any support from Axis at all.
Then there are the remnant Zeon forces that hide out on Mars which receive support from the Busch Concern to be the Oldsmobile Army, and after their fall will be the Busch Concern becoming Cosmo Babylonia and it's Crossbone Vanguard. Universal Century Earth was never going to see peace in any one's life time.

    • @lyricsghost2547

Don't forget that Bask supporters pretty much wanted Stardust to succeed to create a schism into the Earth Federation for the Titans to be born. Even if Stardust never happened, any Zeon/Spacenoid revolt would have been fueled into something bigger as an excuse to divide Earthlings. It wasn't one sided, so it was bound to happen no matter what Axis decided.

Acting as if CDA turning out differently would've solved everything is a massive reach. The Jupiter Fleet still would've existed and once Haman and Char die, they would be replaced by possibly corrupted or people that can't handle the responsibility. The Federation's corruption would've still happened as an eventuality and a war between Char and Haman Vs. the Federation would've occurred. The Cosmo Babloynia still would've been created and it would lead to F91, Crossbone and Victory.
It's also pretty ironic with that click bait title, you yourself don't understand that the series isn't grim. You look at it as if it all happens one after the other. Turn A comes right after G-Saviour Tomino's Gundam was all about how individuals were able to work together to make a better future and stop the war. Even with all of the corruption there were people who rose to the occasion and fought to stop further casualties, bringing periods of general peace to the citizens. While there is a point that U.C. never learns the lesson(Tomino's making Greco based on that), each Tomino U.C. story is about a tragic war that eventually ends with hope onto the horizon. CCA spells it out. A grim series doesn't have these hopeful endings. Sure there's consequences. But that's part of the message.

    • @TheHobgoblyn
      @TheHobgoblyn 4 роки тому

The only reason the Titans were proved to be a necessary evil and supported by the Federation was because of Operation Stardust. If that didn't happen, the Federation would have been too confident in their complete victory to have bothered funding such a specialist force to keep spacers in line. And the much stronger Earth Federation force would have been better able to handle any other factions that might have later decided to attack the Earth sphere-- if the strength of the Earth Sphere military alone wasn't enough to dissuade them. Cosmos Babloynia in particular never would have formed had Side 6 not felt that there was an opportunity for them to rebel just like Zeon did.

    • @zeniatus
      @zeniatus 4 роки тому +1

      TheHobgoblyn
It’s a reach to say that Stardust would’ve been averted in the first place. Or that Stardust wouldn’t have just caused the Federation to tighten their hold with their two new Gundam type mobile suits, nor that the secrets wouldn’t have been revealed to the public, leading to mass suppression/oppression.
Neither does it stop Scirroco from coming back to the Earth sphere. And it would be even easier for him to gain power to what you assume to be a lax government.
Also, you forgot the fact that Jupiter has a monopoly on helium-3 Which powers everything. Any threat from them is backed by the control of the market.
These presuppositions all miss the fact that the Federation corrupts because of the people who are working in it, not the events that happen. And one way or another there will be an overreach or a rebellion that leads into another war. Humanity isn’t perfect, which is why war is constant in UC. The message is that there’s always good people/youth to bring hope through understanding.

One major theme of the UC timeline is that power leads to corruption. As positions of power shifts, roles are rearranged and who was recently considered the good guy can quickly become bad, and vise versa. There's heroes among zeon and the federation, waiting to arise when dealt a hand of injustice. No matter how righteous and loyal to their values the crew of whitebase was, time would quickly sweep away their connections and accomplishments.

Let’s be perfectly honest about the UC timeline almost anyone on both the Federation or Zeon side would start a international’s crisis that would have started another war. The sad truth is that the One Year War brought up several issues with both the questions of Colonialism of space and the importance of the Newtype Phenomenon that cannot be answer without putting heated tension onto the discussion. The Federation will say that the Earth sphere is the way for humanity to survive and thrive, why the other hand Zeon will say that they are the answer to humanity evolution into the Newtypes sensation, but sad truth is that Humanity will be at odds with itself because of these issues that should’ve been solved together as a species.

I really got to wonder how there keep being new wave of Zeon forces when every single time they have lost and had every single person fighting for them killed. They should be extinct a dozen times over. It would be like if we had major Nazi terrorist groups that somehow had comparable military force to the U.S. popping up every decade since World War II and losing every single time and having all of their stuff wrecked, yet a decade later another with again comparable military equipment just popped up again.
It's almost like the creators of Gundam are so fixated on that one single plotline that they are utterly incapable of moving on and actually writing literally anything else.
Also-- given the regularity of spacers declaring themselves new Zeon waves, why did no NeoTitans anti-spacer force never materialize again to actively work to prevent such a thing? Seems like as the Earth Federation wins every single conflict, but not without suffering great casualties, it would be much easier for an extremist anti-Spacer group to form than another Zeon wave.

The story of CDA is more like Paradise Lost meets the downfall of Camelot, all bcoz of a snake named Fabian. There could have been an Eden in the UC timeline, but it got ruined by love, sex, & selfish desires. Haman would've been an Joan of Arc of Axis, but due 2 an attempted rape, tragedy & heartbreak, she became another Kycilla Zabi, where as she use 2have a crush on Char, just like Quess in CCA. While Char, after taking revenge on the Zabis, was @ a loss 2 what 2do next bcoz of Lalah's death, even though Lalah was guiding Char from the other side. Char took an infant Mineva 2 Axis where love, conflict & grief awaits him. He found comfort in the form of Natalie, who was used by Fabian, only 2 succumb 2 a tragic fate while being pregnant of Char's child. Fabian tried & failed 2 get his way w/ Haman. If it weren't 4 Natalie's death, Fabian's attempt & Haman's heartbreak, Char would've guided humanity 2 a different course of history, there wouldn't have been an Operation Stardust, Gyrps Conflict, nor any other shit that came afterwards. Instead, Char was portrayed as an aimless wondering jerk looking 4 a girl w/ a mother's love. Nonetheless, CDA is still authored by Yoshiyuki Tomino himself.
