Hey man im a tech at mercedes and we have a sl65 at the dealer thats been here for 2 years with the same misfire you are encountering on the cl. This car however is stock, but we have replaced everything from ignition modules to fuel pumps aswell the tank with its internal pump etc.. mb field tech came out and were there for weeks trying to figure this v12 mercedes out. During their diagnosis they found that unplugging the fuel pressure sensor by the rear of vehicle triggered a cel and the fuel system went into fail safe which is max load and the vehicle would drive and can go wot with no misfires at all. But it would get 3 mpg. Its worth a shot alex and i hope you read this and try it. Also the issue ended up being a clogged cat. On the passenger side.

You should do a full rebuild of that Automatic transmission. Since they seem to fail so frequently. Especially the torque converter. The lockup clutch grenades and shreds the pump and all the clutches. If you don't do anything else, at least upgrade the torque converter to a billet converter. The factory stamped steel ones warp from the heat. And thats what causes the clutch to slip and delaminate. Especially if you tow. (I'm assuming this one probably was used for towing a boat)

I used to live in Wisconsin on the Mississippi River and always marveled at people who would drive their trucks out onto the ice. They would park as close together as if in Walmart. I’m guessing this one went through.
Body module,4x4 module, restraint control module, front control module or radio all will need replacement, all under seat and dash...fuel pump mod is above spare tire usually...I belive ABS is on passenger frame rail ,it is a module...etc,,,,best of luck, will be interesting. Oil floated out early on.....electronic power steering is a module
Our 1994 Chevy stepsister rolled into the lake and got submerged completely....we took it out and dryed it out and drained all the water and refilled all the fluids. It ran and we drove it for 2 5 years....it had 226,000 miles on it...we did pull and rebuild the motor. But we had no electric problems
I give it 100% chance for running. • Derek from Vice grip garage • Chris from No nonsense know how • The guys from Turning rust have resurrected some seriously old very bad looking engines. Alex, don’t let us down!
Hi Alex I have a question also I've been watching ur videos for many years so the question was can you fix my dad's car, it's a 2005 lincoln navigator so when he accelerate it vibrate alot and the rear bumper is broken😢 Thx love ur vid
Well based on my experience, it could have been a suicide/death where the truck went into the lake and they broke the back window to get into it. Hopefully I’m wrong though!!!
@@3rd_partingwhen accelerating it vibrates? May be axles, diff, any mounts, driveshaft or even misfiring engine. And broken bumper isn't that bad to repair / replace, right?
Ive got the same truck and my biggest concern is the power steering. The electric power steering on my truck had some water ingress and the power steering motor went. Had to replace the whole power steering assembly with a used one from a scrap car. Very expensive job. Unfortunately the power steering system is not sealed well and it's a known issue. I drove the truck once in the rain and that was enough to cause water to enter the power steering motor. After the first power steering assembly replacement, I now never drive the truck in rain and never wash it from the bottom. Sucks to have a big car like that but being unable to drive anywhere near water
A few years back I tore into a e4od transmission that had been frozen. The filter had expanded inside the transmission. Just something you should look for
Yea him spending money on parts is a colossal mistake at this point. The entire engine, tranny, transfer case and diffs need to come out and be completely torn down cleaned and rebuilt. Not to mention most of the electronics and ALL the miles of wiring are toast. Terribly stupid project that even if he gets running will have issues down the road and be a total waste of money and nightmare for anyone that buys it from him which is probably what he will do with it once he "fixes" it (Even though you can't "fix" it, that's why it's totaled) This is nothing more than a part out vehicle which he got cheap enough to make some money on, after a ton of work tearing it down then listing all the good parts. Gonna take months if not years. 99% of flood vehicles these youtubers "fix" are utter trash and have many issues down the road for the poor fools that end up with them.
Love the name frozenado. I have wanted to say for a long time, I love the fact that you do things right. I like watching other revival shows but hate how they go about getting engines running. You do it the right way and you really care about the work you do. Thank you for being a breath of fresh air.
In addition to using an ozone generator for the mold, get a dehumidifier, put it on the floor under the dash to help dry it out. I think you might get lucky with this one if you can get it properly dried out and any corrosion inhibited.
Yeah i vote no for ozone generator makes aluminium oxidise like crazy leather goes sticky and disgusting and the ozone smells terrible for a fair while
Ozone generator is a must have..I started using 1 when I had a garage fire..now I switch around house..basement..garage...vehicles and they work 100% all the time
With on ozone generator, it seems the key is how long you use it. If you use it for an hour and then take a long break, it should really help. If you turn it on and go away for 12 hours or more, you won't like what happens.
SUPER EXCITED ABOUT THIS NEW PROJECT!! My daily is a 2014 Silverado LTZ 4wd that just turned over 60,000 miles. Yes, Rancho shocks were added to the Z71 models because my 4wd has the standard Bilsteins. And yes, it is a lot easier to pull the battery if you unbolt the reservoir. I have a full set of factory (same ones on your truck) chrome wheels in mint condition that are for sale as well. Love the channel.. been a fan since you were working in your home garage.
Its the Shiver-ado. Living in ND and dealing with diesel equipment, those torpedo heaters are a life saver. Love seeing the Mr. Heater brand heater, its what I use.
From 20% to 32.3% of running... I'm someplace around 15%.... but, at the end with the motor spinning freely, I'm up to 60% now... Man this is a big project....
FYI you should always try to spin the motor backwards. Before spinning it the normal way. It’s less of a chance of bending your piston rings from a rust ridge As it sits now I gave it a 90% chance the motor is good.
Definitely an engine rebuild in my opinion. You’ve done it plenty of times before, I’m thinking cylinders honed, new rings, valve job, gasket set, not sure about big end & main bearings, are those parts cheap? I’m nearly 100% sure you need to pull the engine, imagine all the oil galleries blocked up with crap. Anyway you know what you’re doing, you don’t need me telling you what to do. Good luck Alex 👍🇦🇺🙏
The problem with water freezing is that it expands. Good luck! The song you were thinking of is "I can't drive 55" by Sammy Hagar A more appropriate song though is "Ice Ice baby!"
I love this. Unlike Freddie and his P1, I think you actually have a great chance of completing this project! I’m looking forward to the future episodes!!
Alex, I have no doubt you will get this running. Once you replace the oil pan, the oil filter, Drop the trans cover, replace the filter too, replace the fluid. Everything else can be refurbished or bought somewhere. Good luck Alex, looking forward to next Saturday video. You’re a mad man Alex! A flooded frozen truck??!
You should put a dehumidifier inside the vehicle. Get a moisture tester and check the carpet/pad and seats for drying progress twice a day. Do not put an ozone generator inside the vehicle unless it is dry. It will bleach out fabrics. If you are concerned with mold, use a product called Benefect Decon 30 and apply literally.
I am so invested in this project! Can’t wait for the next installment. I was at 25% confidence of it being able to run at first, but after seeing it turn over by hand like that, I’m at 55%!
if you mix 1/4 teaspoon of oil of clove with 1L water and hose the seat down it will kill the mold spore use the same mix to clean the seat after leaving for a wile
If anyone can get this frozen Chevy started, it's you, Alex! I love your show and look forward to seeing you every Saturday morning. You are very inspirational and make these tough tasks look achievable. Even my wife will stop what she is doing and watch your show. So now I can watch you in the living room and not feel like i am boring her with the same ol, same ol, car repair show. Thank you and Max for all the work you do to make this channel so amazing! Keep it up, gentlemen!
I used to love “Wheeler Dealers” because of Ed China’s fixes. I liked Mikes fun stuff. You do both. Stay with the mix you have. American television tried to make it a show for people who wanted to be entertained by gimmicks instead of car guy stuff. 35 years in Car business in sales and management. Always hung out with mechanics.
I have done a few flood vehicles in the past before you pull all the interior out get the truck running close all the windows put the heat on full blast! Leave it running for a few hours! This will help dry it out along with electronic inside the cab!
Im from Florida and never even thought about flooded cars freezing 😃 Never even knew that was a thing. Thats a fun interesting twist in the whole project, Good times!
For reference, the area up here is supposed to have -20's f wind chill this coming week. A few reasons why this could happen. The first is as Alex is guessing. They were loading or unloading their boat and slid into the water. Being that it happened in October, it could get down to freezing at night, and then not get warm enough during the day to completely thaw. The other way this happens is driving on the lake for ice fishing. It doesn't take much looking to find a story about a vehicle that fell through the ice while on the way to their ice shanty. There was an episode of Dirty Jobs where they recovered an SUV after it fell through the ice.
💯 % Chance it will fire!! Love the Front End of the 2014 and 2015 Silverado LTZ Z71 Pickups!! Yep Ranchos are stock, I wish they still used Bilstein! Can't wait for you to get it running!!
Just wanted to say thank you SO much for the pen light. Received the 2 i purchased from you relatively quick.. PLUS YOU THREW IN A SWEET LSC KEY CHAIN !! It's going on my Monza keys!
Those boat launch stickers on the windshield are for dane county launches, good chance that truck was from the madison area since you have access to a lot of ramps in the madison area.
I had a 2017 LTZ Z71 crew cab. It had the 6.2 l. The 8 speed transmission is gunk. Replaced at 24k. At 40k it needed to have service on it. I sold it. They do come with Rancho shocks, it's part of the Z71 package. Had my head unit replaced 2x also. Loved the truck but toooooo many issues
Bummer you had all those issues. I have a 2017 LTZ Z71 5.3L 8L90 80k miles now. GM recoded and switched the Trans fuild in 2016. I switched the Enigine to Amsoil at 15k and the Trans at 30K. I haven't had any issues other that I go thru Batteries like crazy even Optimas, A/C Condenser started leaking at 45k and the Active Grill Shutter failed at 70k. Seems as though I am one of the lucky ones without 8 speed Transmission issues...
I have no doubt that Alex will get this truck running, it is a beautiful truck... I watch 'the detail Geek' channel (a great guy in Canada) that does detailing... Well he details a lot of Silverados so knowing that I know the truck is awesome. However for me this video proves that Alex really is going crazy... Maybe old age cause only Alex will do crazy like this lol..... Needless to say this is going to be an awesome series........
I live in FL. I also used to be an insurance adjuster and now manage a body shop. I see a lot of flooded vehicles. I have seen them basically fully restored, all new wiring and modules, they almost never fix all the way or forever. Fresh water cleans up a lot easier and stands a better chance but id give it a 1 in 5 shot. That truck might as well be haunted. edit, i made this comment before you said 20% chance the engine would run
Interesting project! I'm actually really surprised how clean it is for the year, in Alberta here, that truck would have rust holes in the body already.
Get with Chris Sullivan (his name is his YT channel) he has a MB issue on his C63....he has been working on fixing for a year now. Sounds like the kind of challenge you would like to solve......he seems like a great guy...does what you do but on a smaller level....he reminds me of your channel when it was young....a ton of your subs watch him also..... just putting it out there...would be cool to see you help a smaller channel out.... keep up the great work!!
That's why it's good to get GAP insurance 😉 First thing I would have started doing it's getting nice warm cheep oil of any caliber ALL over the heads/top, oil plug wide open. Until it started looking like normal oil just as a starter. Then proceeded to flush it withthe correct stuff. Plugs would have been out the whole time shooting oil water everywhere. I would have done it outside near my palm tree until I was confident that all the water was everywhere but the engine. My extension cord would have been ran to my big boy jump box. But to each their own. I have an oak tree with a winch. And have been pretty successful so far. The only ice I've seen is a decal on the side of a truck.
Use transmission fluid and put it in the sparkplug holes and let set overnight. That should unstick the rings from the piston walls and lessin any damage. After you thaw the whole thing out use crankshaft bolt to turn engine 360 degrees. Check and see if the motor rotates. Then proceed with changing out all fluid every fluid needs to be changed. even brake fluid...
I had no doubt once I saw in the block and the connections that the vehicle will be just fine, once you get everything thawed out and maintenance. 👍I even knew that there was going to be a "boatload" of water in the oil pan, and most likely had a crack somewhere. I enjoy watching all your videos and I'm looking forward to the next one.
I’ve never been less excited for a LSC project. The only blue truck I want to see worked on says Lightning on the side Also that mold is INSIDE the seat too. No point in cleaning the outside without busting it all the way apart
I think either of the names from the movie FROZEN, Elsa, Anna, or Kristoff would be great. Im sure your kids would love it as well. If the truck was white then I would say Olaf as well
Good luck, I never buy floods anymore at auction since the most expensive parts usually are bad, engine, tranny, modules, electronics. I always prefer damaged cars, and swapping out ,panels, doors, fenders, hood, beds, bolt on and off. Wishing you all the best brother!

• Derek from Vice grip garage
• Chris from No nonsense know how
• The guys from Turning rust
have resurrected some seriously old very bad looking engines. Alex, don’t let us down!
Chris sunk his Toyota truck at boat ramp and its still running today! Only thing was it didn't freeze.
That’s right! It went 16 feet under water. That was a crazy episode. He remained so calm throughout the ordeal
You forgot Jennings motor sports
How about tavarish?
@vcall6121Tavarish was the first person I thought of also.
What do you think happened to the Silverado? Did it go into a lake?
@mmllmmll22 alr thx ima go check it out. Thx thx for the help
I’d be willing to bet he was ice fishing. Driving on the lake and it broke through the ice.
If you submerge it in rice it will soak up all the moisture. Rich rebuilds did that with his Audi e-tron on his channel 😂
Gave me a laugh, I remember that lmao. That was mad funny
😂
Whistling diesel filled the engine bay of his truck with rice after he covered the entire engine bay with water. The rice made it run again!
Alex I honestly think you have the best and most legit you tube channel. I am always entertained.
Project Sub-Zero? I love this project! This is exiting! I think with new oil pan and all fluids flushed and replaced she's gonna run!
sure. for about 3 secs. and then electricals are gonna catch fire. very dumb purchase
Exciting*
Other than sketchy electronics, powertrain should be solid. Also Rancho shocks are standard equipment on the Z71 package, so she’s all original!
A few years back I tore into a e4od transmission that had been frozen. The filter had expanded inside the transmission. Just something you should look for
Before you order i know im too late but check the block for cracks too remove the broken upper pan.
Yea him spending money on parts is a colossal mistake at this point.
The entire engine, tranny, transfer case and diffs need to come out and be completely torn down cleaned and rebuilt.
Not to mention most of the electronics and ALL the miles of wiring are toast.
Terribly stupid project that even if he gets running will have issues down the road and be a total waste of money and nightmare for anyone that buys it from him which is probably what he will do with it once he "fixes" it (Even though you can't "fix" it, that's why it's totaled)
This is nothing more than a part out vehicle which he got cheap enough to make some money on, after a ton of work tearing it down then listing all the good parts.

Yeah i vote no for ozone generator makes aluminium oxidise like crazy leather goes sticky and disgusting and the ozone smells terrible for a fair while
maybe some other things but i rememeber that the one time i used it in my car
Ozone generator is a must have..I started using 1 when I had a garage fire..now I switch around house..basement..garage...vehicles and they work 100% all the time
They originated in burn units to clean air
Factory shocks for Z71 are Rancho. I've had 3 of these trucks. 2014, 2016 and 2017 all had Rancho.
At least there are hundreds of those engines everywhere. " Ice Ice, baby!" Good job, Alex
Its the Shiver-ado. Living in ND and dealing with diesel equipment, those torpedo heaters are a life saver. Love seeing the Mr. Heater brand heater, its what I use.
Hi Alex, engine oil is denser than water. It, therefore, floats. Water fills the engine. Oil, given enough time of immersion, escapes true the top.
Through*
Love the new intro clip =) Super cool!! Good job, Max lol
From 20% to 32.3% of running... I'm someplace around 15%.... but, at the end with the motor spinning freely, I'm up to 60% now...
Man this is a big project....
My favorite time of Saturday morning.
Good luck!
The song you were thinking of is "I can't drive 55" by Sammy Hagar
A more appropriate song though is "Ice Ice baby!"
Indeed - but since Haggar became the VH front man, its OK that he mixed up the groups.
I love this. Unlike Freddie and his P1, I think you actually have a great chance of completing this project! I’m looking forward to the future episodes!!
That transition at 9:43 was AMAZING!!!
Max is great and a very creative editor.
All those seats needs pulled brother. If the cover is molding the padding is as well.
if you mix 1/4 teaspoon of oil of clove with 1L water and hose the seat down it will kill the mold spore use the same mix to clean the seat after leaving for a wile
There are other more important problems

10:08 Blue, frozen, ice queen. It's name should probably be Elsa
I came to say the same!
I was going to say that. It must be Elsa.
Elsarado
This guy beat me to ice queen😅
It should absolutely be ELSA!!!!
Lots of electronics in a Silverado. You may want to look for another one that has rollover damage and use it for a parts vehicle for this truck.
The LineX logo says madison
I heard of walnut blasting to get rid of carbon deposits but giving it an ice chip blast takes it to a whole new level
I’m halfway through the video and I’m rooting for you buddy! I’m excited to see how this goes!
It’s only proper to call her Elsa. And I believe rancho 32:06 shocks are part of the z71 package? At least it is on my 2024
I must say max with the sick editing skills let’s go LSC! ❤
This is great! I just purchased a 2015 Silverado LT with 183k miles on and super clean! Excited to see what you do with this.
You might want to inspect the freeze plugs. Especially since the upper oil pan cracked.
GM definitely went with Ranchos for that series of Z71 truck. I had the same from the factory in my GMC 1500 Z71
Interesting project! I'm actually really surprised how clean it is for the year, in Alberta here, that truck would have rust holes in the body already.
Alberta is the best to get a vehicle… no salt. Try being on the east coast lol
Always do an early low bid just to make sure you're all set up and it goes through!
I did! It was all set. Made no sense
Awesome the color is my favorite looking forward to seeing the next video
Kudos on being so positive.
Fell through the ice. Running.
Since it was totaled in October... Shouldn't be ice yet in September/October when it went swimming.
E63
Chris's channel is so underrated.
I definitely follow both, Chris' channel is awesome!
bump this to the top, please!
i've been waiting all day for the video< keep up the great work.
Surprisingly fun to watch such a video Alex we love ya bro can hardly wait to see this truck running
Quite an interesting build Alex, Good luck man!
Good morning dude! Thanks for the early upload brotha!
Any time!
Oil floats on water, if the truck was completely submerged than the whole engine filled up with water and the oil leaked out the top of the engine.
My favorite Saturday morning show! Let's GO LSC Team!
That's why it's good to get GAP insurance 😉
First thing I would have started doing it's getting nice warm cheep oil of any caliber ALL over the heads/top, oil plug wide open.
I prefer the less expensive Old Navy insurance. I hear it's great for waterborne vessels.
'An ant on a popsicle stick could go surfing inside the cylinder'- Alex
😃😃 Thats funny man.
The only blue truck I want to see worked on says Lightning on the side
Also that mold is INSIDE the seat too. No point in cleaning the outside without busting it all the way apart
I think either of the names from the movie FROZEN, Elsa, Anna, or Kristoff would be great. Im sure your kids would love it as well. If the truck was white then I would say Olaf as well
Is the air filter soaked?
And good thing is Fresh Water.
Once it's running, do a video on deleting the active cylinder management!
Good luck, I never buy floods anymore at auction since the most expensive parts usually are bad, engine, tranny, modules, electronics. I always prefer damaged cars, and swapping out ,panels, doors, fenders, hood, beds, bolt on and off.
Wishing you all the best brother!
Sideburns, oil floats. Basically it all went up through the engine, which is why the plugs had oil and the top end looks clean.
Wow. Good luck with this one!
Thanks!!
