Here's Why You Shouldn't Ignore The Slower and Cheaper Toyota Supra 2.0
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лис 2020
- The 2021 Toyota GR Supra 2.0 is your cheaper and slower Supra. It may not be as fast as the six cylinder turbo found in the 3.0, but this is still a wonderfully good sports car. There is a glaring issue that will keep me from buying it, however. Find out in our review and let us know what you think!

A simple ECU flash will make the 2.0 dance a little better, I think.
LOOK WHAT PEOPLE DO TO THE 2.5 BOXER ENGINE EASLEY OVER 500 HP
Why do I feel the 4-cylinder is more reliable than the 6 cylinder
It's not. The b58 engine 3.0 is a top peer engine , engineered by both bmw and Toyota. 2.0 is as well
Just through this engine in the GT86 and everyone will be happy
Throw* ^ didn't edit cause I'm not gonna lose that heart ;)
I drive the 2.0 and have ran next to a 3.0 and half a car length is what difference .. after tune I’ll be at 315-325 which is plenty for me ..I daily this car for work and love it
We bought one and love it!
i got a 2 ltr one and its going to be easy to modify in a couple years. the 6 cylinder one was out of stock till 2022 in my country so what the heck
Once you start upgrading things like exhaust and trying to reach the 3.0 power level you might as well just get the 3.0 and keep the warranty but either choice looks incredible
With $1500 worth of tune, you could achieve same HP as stock 3.0. But I got your point, im debating between Zupra and Mustang GT
So basically, if you think about it as the FRS turbo with a warranty everyone wanted. It's all good
Do you know if your friend Alex still has that sonic blue Atacama 60r? It’s beautiful
He does not
The sound is probably the most noticeable downside as you say. You can fix the sound with a better exhaust, that is not 8000$ worth :D . I can imagine that the lightweight body feels better as a drivers car, like the 86 does. I don't need electrical seats and other gimmicks. I just want a good sports car. Another point is, that it is more fun if you can use the full performance of the engine to the limits on public roads. With the 3,0 you can't floor it and play with the power band, even on the german Autobahn you need a lot of space and low frequented times... :D
Excellent point. The first thing that came to mind when he brought up the sound was to grab a HKS exhaust for $1500. You get the sound plus an additional 30hp.
I’d be curious to see an autocross alien run both through 10 laps and see how the weight and agility balance out.
The 4cyl gets spanked. The brakes aren't good enough, the engine isn't as powerful, and the differential isn't as good.
I love my 2.0. Its enough for me & I saved 10k
And its' better balanced Front to Rear weight distribution should make it handle better than the 3.0 also.
How much did you pay for yours? The dealers aroubd me are selling it for 50k 💀 which is why I’m leaning towards and 86
@patrickpi9218 43k. Plus 3k for the sticker once I got it home etc I bought it from a different state. Better to shop outside the state imo. But they changed some shit to where non locals can't buy. It depends on Toyota dealership and not by state. More footwork
In the land of the free it doesnt cost a arm and a leg to own a 6 or even 8 cyl engines, here, in europe, where i live, it DOES....
Nice video
I would rather have the 2.0l, I don’t track or usually drive to fast. Something that looks nice and fun to drive and with some bolt on mods would make it sound better. Will wait for the manual ver to come out
Good to know
seems like a good choice for a 1jz swap
For the money you might as well get the 6 cylinder mkv. You’ll be 3k into the project with engine and ecu. Not to mention transmission/adapter.
Swaps aren’t as cheap as you think. We wanted to 1j swap our is300 and that’s 10k to have a shop do it and a 1j swaps straight in.
I like the idea tho.
ShiftingLanes do it yourself 🤷🏻♂️
It’s not cheaper, the 3.0 is selling for 50-55k the 2.0 is selling for 50k
Lmao huh? The only way you're getting those prices is if you're talking about a brand new 2.0, vs a used 3.0 with 60K plus miles on it.
@@mack8154not sure if this still applies since you commented that a month ago, but a day ago I managed to get a 3.0 supra with 8k miles for $57k. Which is still overpriced but best I could find near me
US$25k price difference between 3.0 and 2.0 in my country. Smh
Really dislike the title, considering they actually make the same MPH stock….
Did you know that Toyota have changed the pistons on the 3.0 from BMW to their own and this has caused excessive oil usage. Just Saying.
The higher oil consumption is one of the reasons why I will be buying the 2.0 Sup.
I concur! I just can't see myself opting for second best over a measly $8,000.00.
$8,000?! Bruh for a young adult like me thats alot
@@MJT-DA Perhaps, but if that's an issue, you wait 2yrs and find you a nice low-mileage turbo 6cyl and rock and roll MBFAM! You'll save at least 8k and have the object of your hearts desire.
@@paststeve1 I have 8k saved from my part time job for a Genesis coupe 2.0T. That's the only sports car I can afford since I'm in college :(
@@MJT-DA If you are already someone wise enough to be saving rather than borrowing you surely will someday be able to "scratch your sports car itch" with the car of your choice. Hang in there dude....if you work hard and save you are way ahead of 70% of your peers.
@@paststeve1 Thanks for the kind words!!
18” looks less bicycle and i like non farting cars
Ditto!
This car is like $90k
With the dealership mark ups and interest yea it's sad really takes the "affordable" claim out
Its 35k used 😊
Why are so many videos pushing so hard on the 2.0? I don't want it. Nobody wants it. Its the "almost inline-6 that I had to buy because I can't afford the good one."
Nobody wants the 4 or 6 cyl mustang/camaro/challenger; its what you get when you have to settle for something other than the v8.
Nobody remembers the "also ran" when looking back.
My veloster has more hp and sounds better
Hell yea!!!
Facts
its also fwd.....
Ugly kdm
I’ve driven both cars and a 2.0 Supra would mop a veloster N
Yeah except you should ignore it if you're a enthusiast. Doesn't have any of the goods... No LSD and a boring characterless engine...
This has a mechanical lsd as opposed to an electric one.
@@ShiftingLanes Is that new for 2021? Cause earlier models everyone said you wouldn't get a LSD with the 4cyl and all the goods that you'd get with the B58
Yup it’s in the 2.0 Supras
@@ShiftingLanes Alright, makes it more likable.
IT has a mechanical LSD in the 2.0.
They need to discontinue the 2.0 model, it’s an embarrassment to the Supra brand.
a70 supras had smaller engine options in japan (1jz) so its not unheard of
Not at all. Why would they not add a more affordable base model to expand sales volume? Not doing that would be stupid.
Chill hoe ima have a 2.0 lmao
yeah. i bet u enjoy ur 3.0 grsupra :)
Get outta here with that weird crap, Japanese sports cars are known for 4cyl engines. Also the Mkiv had a 4cyl too and it was used the jgtc.
I'd actually love to see Kermit the Frog doing car reviews.
