500 Days in The Long Dark - Part 5

- After surviving The Long Dark for 500 Days on Stalker mode...it's time to try the same on Interloper. There will be no firearms, looted hatchets or knives. We must make our own defenses and tools in order to survive this self-imposed challenge. It's time to see if we achieve victory or die a horrible death like everyone else on Great Bear Island.

The Long Dark Interloper is the hardest mode in Sandbox mode (The other difficulties are Pilgrim, Voyager and Stalker). The game describes that this mode is "For expert players looking for the ultimate wilderness Survival challenge."
In The Long Dark Interloper difficulty, you start with the most minimal resources, supplies are very scarce and Wildlife is rare, but it is more dangerous
Interloper was a new game difficulty, introduced in v.364.
The world becomes more hostile to you as you play. Global temperature drops, wildlife and fuel resources become more scarce, and Blizzards become more frequent.
Apart from the Hacksaw and Hammer, which spawn rarely in the world, you need to create all your own improvised tools (ex. Hatchets, Knives, etc.).
The best Clothing and Food items do not spawn.
Wolves are more rare, but also more deadly.
Wildlife becomes more rare over time.
There are no firearms in the world.

the pry bar you have is only 29% the one that’s in the facility under the tank thing is 100% just so you know
Yeah, take the good one, scrap metal the crappy one...jus sayin.
A few options for some more scrap metal for you. Harvest your current prybar for two scrap and pick up the 100% condition one that you found. There is also a guaranteed tool box in the backseat of the car up by the bear cave if you can swing it, I know you are unarmed right now but those give three scrap when harvested. You could even harvest the can opener you have for one scrap and then use your hatchet you make to open cans but will hurt the condition of the hatchet. Just some options so you can make the hatchet while you are there. Great series brother and good luck!
Those are all awesome ideas. I forgot you could scrap metal tools/items without a hacksaw! I’m screenshorting this comment to do all those things!!
That lantern is a blessing couldn’t see a thing in the last few episodes
I fall asleep listening to u talk, very relaxing, then I have to watch again to see what I missed lol
People be throwing their maple syrup in a safe and can’t put their hacksaw in a toolbox…
beyond the constant disappointment every time an office desk doesn’t have one, i really love the series. You’re doing great job man, keep it up!❤
Well, now we knew the real reason the world fell. They couldn't find their hacksaw when they needed it. LOL
I don't know about Canadian toolboxes, but hacksaws don't fit in our measly British toolboxes lol
"you wouldn't understand it's a canadian thing"
Apologies for the long comment! Scruffy (Fluffy) is in an interior cave where you have to walk under the broken bridge at the end of the road past Hybernia to access. There is no wolf in the mine tunnel that leads from one side of the map to the other. @ 53:46 There is a large pipe with 2 locker doors laying on the floor in such a way that you can walk into and up the pipe which leads up to some upside-down boats that should have some loot. Make sure you look up when you are under the boat for sneaky loot. Someone else also mentioned that the prybar in your inventory is only 25% the one on the floor out in the plant is 100%. I am backing up that observation. The transmitter that needs the fuses, battery, wires, and 5 pieces of scrap to repair is out next to the trailers you first explored when you got to Hybernia. If you repair the transmitter now, it will save you a return trip to do it later, or if you do not have the extra scrap metal to repair it, you can get the battery, fuses, and wires installed so you have less to worry about carrying around, at least for this particular transmitter. If you decide to save it for later, you may want to leave 3 fuses, and 2 wires to repair it later. Thank you for sharing your gameplay with us.
All good suggestions. I don’t have the metal to spare. I might repair some of it now just to have less to worry about next visit.
In the Hibernia processing, there is a pipe you can go through and you will find som boats that are upside down. You can see the pipe on the left at 53:47. Up there can there be great loot and it is always a plastic container on top of the plank inside the boat that you are going under.
That ice cracking my heart jumped for you as well lol
You know you are a Canadian when you can chug 3dl of maple syrup straight up
Just the sound of will chugging an entire bottle of maple syrup gets me every time!
I can’t tell you how excited I am for another LD series
The other mine in the region (not the one you came through on the way in) can have a hacksaw on interloper. Mines in general can have loose scrap metal.
Break down the low condition prybar for scrap metal.
The door @ 42:25 is magical. If you crouch before you enter it, you'll find a 4th trailer hidden in its own subspace.
Beach combing can offer some interesting stuff, like scrap metal, stinky fish and saplings. The stinky fish are good for luring wolves towards deer. Let the wolves work for you instead of against you.
Yeah. I was the one that use to herd deer towards wolves, let them attack the deer and then shoot the wolf. One shot, two kills.
Now they have made the deer fleeing path and bit more unpredictable so it’s not nearly as straightforward as it use to be.
Prybar can be broken down into scrap metal.
At least get the hatchet then in the meantime look for more scrap especially as beachcombing is now OP!
Dude you got me hooked up on this series, I remmember when the long dark came out I was little and I liked the game so much, but over some time I forgot about it and now you awakend my memories with your amazing gameplay, keep up the good work and I can't wait for the next episode.❤
I’ve been feeling really sick today and I’m so excited to watch this episode, thanks accurize :))
Always makes my day to see you upload sending love from the UK
Hey Sarge
Don't forget the memento cache. The lockbox is on top of the first railway car when you come out the front door. (just picked it up myself but playing stalker so i am curious what it contains on interloper)
Also i think you did not yet search the trailer on the other side of the processing plant.
just so you know, while it does allow you to find hidden caches in the region the transmitter in desolation point doesn't contribute to signal void. There's 6 transmitters and the ones in the Airfield, Muskeg, Milton and Signal hill in PV are needed for the tale. The other 2 in Hibernia processing and in Blackrock are just needed for hidden cache coverage in the other regions.
It's been 6 days since part 4 man, I need it more frequently!
he does what he can! he works full time as a police officer & has 2 kids, wish he could upload more often, but nonetheless appreciative of what he can put out for us.
Thanks for the support for sure! I’ll see if I can get them out every few days more often for ya!
That is true. I just got home from a shift and have to take my daughter to volleyball practice in the morning, then back to work. 😂 It’s never dull around here! 😜
@@Accurize2 God bless you man, keep your good work. I hope you return home safe after every shift. Best regards
thankgod you found that lantern the last cave we watched you go through was almost pitch black XD W lantern
great series, got the game cuz of u! practicing on wintermute and will try survival after. pls upload more frequently!
Enjoying the series. Hoping you get that hacksaw luck soon it will definitley progress the series
Best sleep soundtrack, accurize2....... and that's it!
I don't know if I enjoy playing the game more or watching YOU play the game more. Maybe it's an equal amount of both.
Thank you. Quite the compliment.
You can climb up through the pipe on the left when you walk into the main room with the whale bones, there's typically some food at the top inside the upside down boat when you look up
Can watch theses vids for hours ur voice just gives an asmr vibe and i love the long dark so its a perfect combo
I turn on a video and go to sleep.
Hello my good man
It looks like there is something underneath the right hand shelf when you walk into the basement in Crumbling Highway
Could possibly be a rolled up newspaper, but someone with better eyes than me might identify it
Visible at 19:21
Cheers from Sweden 😊
fun fact: If you ever go back to PV community hall im pretty sure you can break down the table (if possible) leaning against the stage to find another hidden cupboard built into the stage like the other one :)
Oh yessss, this is just what I needed🎉
Love the series. Great job, so entertaining.
Been waiting! Instantly stopped what I was watching to put this on.
Man, just keep up the great content😊😊 enjoying myself too much with this series 🤠
Thanks good to hear!!
Enjoying the vids. Thanks for taking the time:)
Always relaxing and pleasurefull watching you play this game.. :)
I'm finally caught up!!! Let's go!
that prybar was 100% yours is like 25%
Mine will be scrapped for metal and I’ll grab the new one next episode. 👍
this is rough. im glad you survived another day..
We’ll be alright…I think. 😂
also you can break down that lantern, it takes a toolbox and a metal to repair, maybe even 2 metal at its current condition and use torches, survival is about choices and uses, lanterns hav 1 use, light, torches have 3 light, scaring off wolves, and starting fires
Torches also have one major con, using matches. And if I’m using it frequently to make sure I’m not missing loot in dark corners (or to help viewers not be blocked out) that could be a lot of matches wasted.
Always keep the lantern gas! Just drop it off in your main camp if necessary, remember things are only going to get harder so you will really need it.
Yes thank you. I’ve played an interloper series before.
@Accurize2 Okay, just saying.
Just catching up on your series as I've been on holiday (vacation). The hacksaw saga was gripping and I felt each disappointment.
Fingers crossed for next episode😁
38:17 looks like meat's back on the menu, boys
@55:02 you can also climb up the pipe in front of you which leads to a body and upturned boat. Sometimes there for items and tools like a revolver or hacksaw up there.
Talk Tal... grabs stick talks waddles more grabs another stick talks more about recipes then proceeds to talk about coal 😂😂
I love the sounds of.th8s game sooo much omg !!
Love your videos
Loving the series
Sorry if someone else mentioned it (I didn't see one), but that corner you are staring hard at @ 49:54 usually is a rifle spawn (I think I learned this from you?). I know there won't be a rifle on on Interloper, but maybe worth checking out to see what other loot might be back there? Should be able to break up the boxes with your hammer.
at least you got a prybar...
maple syrup in a safe... canadian level 9000 :D
22:55 been getting that bug a ton recently, definitely not just you
26:55 9.30kg of Coal 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Awesome ep!
Thanks for the video!
Looking for car batteries and fuses and wires then the walkie talkie thingie in order to get into the bunkers that in interloper (as well you then have to get thru a wall of aurora wolves to get into) IMHO for some stinking canned corn that is only worth it if you want to make up a recipie item?
Yeah was a big No Go for me!
It would be cool if the game had a musket you could craft with super high crafting skills, so that all the firearm mechanics weren't totally dead in Interloper mode.
Like you could need to find a pipe to use for a barrel, bunch of other scrap metal , maybe some wood to fashion a stock, etc Then you could use the already existing ammo crafting mechanics to make lead balls and powder and such
It would be balanced over the other firearms in that it would be lower range and really slow reload, but it would be something at least
I haven't played TLD since the most recent patch but I have found 2 revolvers in interloper within the past few months. One in fluffy's ice cave and another behind the old Spence Farmstead. Not sure if they've been patched out recently but it has been known to happen.
Interloper never had firearms unless you used interloper and then adjusted the loot types in the customization menu. But then it would be a custom setting and no longer be considered interloper.
No sneaky hiding spot? Up the pipe and under the over turned boats?
Great series..😂 I saw my name😊
binge watched this whole series in a day while being sick, definitely one of the best long dark players ever, very logical about things. However i don’t understand why you dropped all those potatoes. wouldn’t cooking them up and eating them when needed be better then dropping them? idk it seems like a little bit of a waste to me. love the series a lot keep it up👍🏼
I found a small glitch, it isn't game breaking or anything. Sometimes you will find containers that are obviously open, you can still search them. I have found a fridge that was ajar, as was able to pick up a fish inside it, but then I was able to search the fridge. Same thing with and open stove, I saw a cooking pot in it the door was open all the way, I looked at the door and it told me to search it and I found cooked meat in it. They are few and far between but they are around.
The coal respawning seems a bit odd in terms of lore. How would lumps of coal work their way to the surface? In my head, I picture just a giant pile of nearly limitless coal that the player is grabbing from. I would assume it's a workaround for a technical limitation. (Can't exactly have a pile of 10k meshes!) A large pile of coal is certainly fun to imagine.
Dude, I know for a fact you can do a 500 day loper series. Get yourself out to Forsaken Airfield, you'll really enjoy the extra lore and loot. There are no free tools or weapons in loper btw, they need to be crafted.
Yep. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I’ve done a long term loper series before, I think over a hundred days. But I’ve never gone 500 in loper.
Might have to check mystery lake for the hack saw.
You missed the hidey hole in Hibernia plant. At 50:04 on the left hand side is a large metal tube on a slant. You can walk into it to a hidey hole that has some loot. It is a possible pistol spawn (but not in interloper). Should you go there be sure to check in the under side of the boats up there overhead for food.
I’ll check that next episode. Thanks. I remember that one now that you mention it from prior playthroughs.
Thank god, this car ride was getting super boring. At least I now have something good to watch while me and my family travel.
this is new, out on the ice is a fishing boat with a stash you walked past in the fog in fount of the docks at the processing plant, watch after scrapping all this stuff you find a hacksaw out there lol
Ok. Once the fog lifts, I’ll check that area also.
Wow I haven't played or watched anyone play this game before, but compared to other games I've played and seen, this one is real stingy with loot lol. I like it because it seems more realistic that items would be scarce, but it's definitely kinda wild to watch you meticulously search a massive area and come out with only coal and like a sock 😂
you can choose the difficulty and this one is the hardcore one, so there's nothing :) the easier ones get you so much loot you have super warm clothes and a rifle in no time :)
I feel like I had pretty good luck finding the forge hammer and, or, the hacksaw at that processing plant. Of course you don't need the hammer.
I'm commenting this before I have seen what happens ahead in the video with the hacksaw. lol
Yeey finally 🎉
💜🥞💜 yes new video . thanks you 🎉
Homestead bread recipe. Just a plain note. Yes. Been there since beta/alpha days. 7+ years.
54:20 You missed a tool box next to the "boss' desk" upstairs
Thank you! I’ll double check that area at the start of the next episode!
I think that's the first aid kit from 45:30 isn't it?
500 days, let me guess no summer. :)
Maybe bust up some of the crates to see what's in them? You have a few days of good I think.
I’ve never had much luck busting boxes/crates. Currently there are too many actual places I need to still explore and I can’t afford the calorie losses to spend an hour busting up a box. It’s the equivalent of playing roulette for loot for me.
This is a brutally tough difficulty! I could not do it.
ABOUT TIME
Do you know a plan for when you leave desolation point or are you just going with what will happen. because somthing like the Technical backpack and crampons seem very usefull for interloper
It depends on the situation we are in and what needs we have accomplished after desolation point. Tech Pack and Crampons are wants, not needs. I gotta take care of the needs first.
Needs: Improvised hatchet, improvised knife, bow and arrows.
After those are done dictating our choices, we can start going for those wants.
@@Accurize2if you find a hacksaw you can always do some improvised crampons too in the interim.
@@Accurize2 very good point of view
dont forget to check your clothing before you head out next episode
Yeah. I need to do a quick check on those wool socks and whatnot.
The devs could just add a third option to read in the radial menu or bed menu, if you have a book that is.
That would be nice!
@Accurize2 I say that as if it's the simplest thing in the world, and wouldn't introduce new bugs and alot of work!
You need to look for car batteries for the signal towers as well
Yeah. I realize that. I just don’t want to carry the extra weight at the moment.
Your voice puts me to sleep everytime I end up watching this in bed 😂
may be below: did you check up the tube to under the dingies?
Mentioned. I get it in a future episode.
oh boy finally 🥰
I have to organise my items in the lockers and desk drawers, even if I have to leave it behind. 😅
Me too. 😂
Why didnt you harvest a bit of the deer in katys corner
Ah when you saw the fish you said you don't want to be stinky. That's why I guess.
Am i Missing something but how did you go it seems the entire episode without eating and not taking health damage?
It’s an old strategy. You starve during the day, take a relatively small amount of damage, then eat around 800 calories just before bed and recover all that at night. It’s far superior to trying to constantly having food in your stomach all day and burning up 2,000 or so calories.
Think about it real life terms…would you eat all day or start rationing your food if you weren’t sure how long your stores might last.
Some people watching don’t understand this and start commenting things like “You’Re stARving! yoU Have PlEnTy oF FooD!! EaT SoMeThinG!!” Not realizing if I constantly kept food in my stomach I would quickly not have plenty of said food. 🙄 🤷♂️
Another episode lets go ❤
hey not to be rude but have you thought about turning the gamma/lighting up in your footage so we could see better??
think you can scrap extra prybars not sure though
Yep. Also toolboxes according to the comments. I’m going to be doing that next episode. I haven’t done that…well maybe ever. But loot is tougher this interloper run it seems.
500days in loper man, thats gonna be hard
49:15 _priorities_
The Long Hacksaw.
Scrap the quality tools and the prybar
Only problem is that you don't yet have a sleeping bag
Doesn't everyone one store their maple syrup in a safe or is it just a Canadian thing?
I’m shocked they let you safe crack in the dark
Maple syrup is for pancakes !!!!!!
8:27 bruh…
You realise you can get a well fed bonus if you don't let yourself get hungry. It will add 5KG to your carry weight
It's a common loper tactic to only eat before sleep.
I don’t have the food stores for that luxury yet. If I stayed well fed, I wouldn’t be for long and I’d be desperate for food. What I have now isn’t much actually.
@@hapster22This! Saves tons of calories from being wasted.
