- This crochet edging for blanket fabric video shows how to crochet a border edging on fleece and other fabrics. Hi I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia
In this video I'll show you how to connect a crochet border to fabric. The crochet shell stitch edging makes a pretty border along blankets and afghans.
We'll first start by cutting the fabric. Then we'll use the blanket stitch to create a starting row. Afterwards, we'll begin crocheting the shell stitch. It's an easy stitch to remember, as it's just two double crochet, followed by a chain two, followed by two double crochet. At the end we can change the middle chain two to a picot stitch instead for a little emphasis along the last row.
For my sample I'm using DK weight yarn and a size F 3.75 mm crochet hook. If you find yarn is a bit too difficult to sew with, change over to embroidery floss instead for the foundation. Then switch over to yarn for the shell stitch crochet section.

I am 67 and when I was a child my Grandmother showed me how to measure and make a few dots on a piece of tape and put it on my thumb nail and the buttonhole stitches were always perfectly spaced.
🙋 Donna, I like the message you showed us how to stitch on the thread so we can crochet around the edge of the blanket. It's so much easier than the way I've seen it done before. I like the shell stitch pattern too that's really pretty. Thank you for making this video.
Wonderful!
Amazing border!👍♥️👌🥰
Simple yet, very elegant!!!
Excellent tutorial , as always!

I love the edging you’ve done here. I always see the most adorable fleece but never buy it because of the plain edges. So thank you, I’m excited now!
Thank you very much for the video! I'm always "in trouble" with hemming and crocheting the right-angled corner of the canvas, I'd be happy to see a video explaining it from you, dear Dana

The stitching you do around the blanket we learned in primary school in Australia and it’s call blanket stitch. And very handy in for a lot of applications. 😀🇦🇺
I've seen it done by going around the whole edge using chain stitch also

This is absolutely gorgeous! I have to apologize cause I have no clue how this works. A pop up came up and it said “report user” it was so fast, I was trying to add my comment and I have no idea to undo that. Donna, please forgive me, it most definitely was unintentional. I love your channel. So so sorry 😞
Love this so much! Tried a different process, that did not work! Will definitely use this process from now on.
Glad it helped!
I have that fleas i was going to make a knot planket but you just changed my mind. Such a great idea.
The knotted edges are nice too! But... if you crochet this is a bit nicer ❤️
Q bonita puntada Preciosa gracias por con partir me gustan mucho tus vídeos 💋
Hi,
I enjoy watching and learning from your videos. I wanted to share the Fiskars 45mm perforating rotary blade with you. It makes the hole around the fleece. See you at next.
I use a slotted rotary tool to cut into the fleece 1/2 inch in, then crotchet on the yarn edge.
Amei!!! Gostaria de aprender a fazer sapato em crochê. Gratidão!💐💐💐
Thanks!
Thank you very much for your kindness! I truly appreciate it!
Thank you 😊
You're welcome 😊
Beautiful! ❤ question? All the videos I watch are only one piece of fleece. Can k use two pieces of fleece? I bought a print and then a Solid piece.
The answer is yes, you can, but let me set some expectations first. Using the method I show, you would take your two pieces of fabric and do the blanket stitch around both of them together at the same time. So technically they would at that point be connected and sewn together. From there you would then put the crochet border on. Do realize that with two pieces of larger fabric, if they are not "quilted" together throughout the surface of the blanket, they might move around and shift, sometimes quite a lot. This might affect the crochet border a bit if it puts too much pressure on the blanket edging stitches.
🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Please do you know his way to make shapes of burlap with crochet as bags or brushes or anything
I have a edgit crochet hook. I haven't used it yet.
I have a similar "sharp" crochet hook too. It works - easy to poke through fabric - but almost poked right through my fingers a few times too! So I put it away and just stuck with the sewing method instead. 😬
🙏😍👌👍👩
Hola me en canta tus vídeos creo q tienes una tienda d lanas como puedo comprar en tu tienda
Can I suggest that you use a good quality fleece? The thinner stuff will not look as nice.
How far apart from one stitch to the other
That's explained starting with the single crochet sample in the video at 0:40.
