Drobo's OS is great, but the hardware implementtion AWFUL. Sucks dust that is quasi impossible to clean out. Drives are not in a carrier, and are constantly being PUSHED OUT by a heavy spring. Back plane with sockets is separate from MB and looses alignment. Drive socket corrode due to arcing. Need cleaning & protection with Stabllant-22! Data too valuable for this toy. Get QNAP or Synology. Their box is easy to clean and maintain. DROBO CR2032 well hidden and not meant to be user changed. Ergo, life of Drobo ~ 4-6 years MAX then ship back to DROBO to change $1.50 cell battery (Drobo S) & others.

Currently having the same problems. left my computer on thru Christmas, when I came back the Drobo was recognized again. however when waiting for a new NSA to arrive it died again. I am sure I have not lost the data, just the main unit.My machine was very dusty inside when I blew it our with a compressor. I believe dust was the main problem. still trying to figure it out. ..
So mine did come back to life after many attempts but died again when going to sleep. So it needs to be left on forever? It’s that your advice?

@@uselesstutorials1153 I have everything backed up. All set. I took it offline for 3 weeks along with iMac. Didn’t use either. Plugged them all back in. Powered up.
I can even power it off and on again and it’s working great. Crazy. However, I’m using it with a mirrored external and in process of getting rid of it but it works 100% fine now. Lol
