when they debuted, they were so *passionate*, so charismatic. i watch their debut stages and can't BELIEVE they had this much stage presence in their first ever performances. they had trained for years and were READY to conquer the world. but what happened? they have been on hiatus the majority of their career and have less than 15 songs and no full album after 4 years. it's so heartbreaking watching yg crush their dreams like this. they deserved so much better

winnars that is true. I’ll give BLACKPINK props for that. 2019 was a upgrade from 2018. But when they talk about their music or about releasing new songs, they don’t seem enthusiastic anymore. I’m not saying BLACKPINK doesn’t like doing music because they clearly do but their fire seems to have burnt out, most likely because of YG.

why does everyone forget they literally just finished a huge tour...like a month ago. Complain about lack of an album all you want, but they literally just went on a huge tour. Calling them as only models is ridiculous, especially when it's part of an idol's job to model.

In the beginning I really liked Blackpink. However everything they do and say just seems so controlled by their company. Even in their TV series I couldn‘t really connect with them because their behavior felt so forced. This isn‘t by any means the girl‘s fault, but it‘s really sad that not only their talents aren’t showcased properly (singing, dancing, etc.) but we also haven’t really got to know their actual personalities.
I became a fan during aiiyl but it seems like since D4 I can’t connect with them anymore. There is barely any content which is in part yg’s fault but also it feels like the members aren’t going out of their way to try and connect with their fans. They never do vlives and they haven’t been posting that much on Instagram. When they finally do post it’s always ads for the products they endorse or photoshoots. I don’t understand because there are groups that are a lot busier and they always are trying to reach out to fans to show how much they care. I feel like we are just becoming ways to make money.

suga is a psychic I highly doubt yg is controlling their whole instagram. The things they post now are much different then how they posted a year ago. They would still have the freedom to show love for their fans, but they don’t. Even other yg artists post much differently then the Blackpink do. There are many more groups who seem like they care more about their fans then Blackpink does. They seem like they do it more for the fame and money rather than actually for their fans.

They seem to want a job in the entertainment field where they don't need to show connection to their fans AKA models. They remind me of the rich girls in school who act like your friend to get something and then never keep in touch. Not saying they are like that, but that's the vibe I get from what I've seen as a fan and ex-fan. I don't want to compare, but Twice is 20x busier and still post and try to reach out to fans, even if they probably don't feel like it. Hate to say it, but BP just act spoiled a lot.

It is sad because she really does live singing. She cried after their debut stage and she always looks so happy when she gets to sing on stage. It’s so sad and it breaks my heart because she really did want to do this. She gave everything up to sing and do what she loves and yg keeps treating her like trash.

Sometimes i cant help but think YG set BP up from the start like before BP debuted he called them the "pretty version of 2NE1" which already after that had people not liking them just because they were a 2NE1 replacement...and then YG had them under a 1 year hiatus as *ROOKIES* and then obviously after that till now their comebacks are VERY inconsistent and only consist of old songs and mini albums...and their promo is literally non-existant it's only a couple music shows (now non), no variety shows, and a *bunch* of commercials and photoshoots (that arent even related to their music or recent comeback) and their mostly solo promos...and lastly YG doesnt handle their hate AT ALL they make it worst
As a blink I could say that BP is wasting their talent on a bad company. They are slowly turning into models and not idols. Everything they do seems controlled.

YG ended 2019 in debt, and if they invest the money they don't have on bp come back, he knows that he won't make enough to cover the cost, because for some reason that I don't understand BP don't do well in sales. So is complicated.

Reasons i can't get into BP:
1) Although their music is pretty well-produced, it isn't the type I appreciate and it is the same formula each time except for Whistle, which I still enjoy
2) They ARE models, not musical artists. Not saying that they don't have the potential, they just haven't shown anything to prove their artistry
3) Not saying they don't have personality because I'm sure they do, but it comes across very fake in the BP diaries
4) They haven't lived up to 2NE1's level yet
5) Their visuals are superior to their musical talent, which again goes back to (2)

I disagree. Jisoo is the most underrated member. And the reason is pretty simple. Jisoo receives hate from both the sides- from the company and from the fans. She receives the least lines and less screen time distribution. She also has a hard time in English interviews.
Jimin’s Oppa while she definitely deserves more screen time because she is the visual, the line distribution might be because rose is the main vocalist, Jennie is the main rapper and centre and Lisa is lead rapper - because of Blackpink’s concept their songs are a bit more rap heavy in the verses - so sadly that leaves Jisoo last in the line distribution by process of elimination, but they should definitely rotate this more and give jisoo more lines

fernanda llinas Jennie plays the flute& piano and recently is quickly picking up on the guitar and asked about drums. She's the only member that's been praised as a songwriter by blackpink, gidle, twice & leehi's vocal coach. She's knows lot about the OG's like Lauren Hill, has participated in making choreography and Ariana's producer has updated with her before captioned showing her "making beats"
Jennie is also highly in demand for collabs especially among khh and ofc she's wanted for variety and CFs but it's been exposed that YG forces brands ot4 or nothing. I ain't ever forgetting how many confirmed gigs she had after going viral on her first non-group variety but we got nothing.
So sit the fxck down and don't cry that Jisoo is underrated when you're not even aware of all the activities she's been given. Jisoo and Lisa have always been the most pushed.

Not hating on her. If Jennie really writes song then maybe BP had releases many songs then. We all know that YG is very obsessed with main rapper/song writers/ leader... this is YG's pattern. YG let his main rappers writes songs and evebtually releases it. So it means that Jennie are most likely don't write songs. And if she does maybe her songs is dull or not that good to be release (though there's still room for improvement if her songs is not that good.)

i agree with this whole video, EXCEPT for the part where you say "there really is no big 3 privilege" -- that is not true imo. the fact that BP still have a huge career, insane popularity, and billions of MV views is evidence of privilege imo. if a group from a smaller company had the kind of inconsistent comeback schedule, limited discography, and same-sounding songs as BP, they would not retain this kind of popularity. no hate to the BP members btw, its YG's fault :/

Yeah like the gap between the big three and other’s is closing, groups in other companies are a lot more likely to make it big. But that’s just because there are more kpop fans, and the times are changing. At the end of the day, if the big 3 puts out a group- EVERYONE will know about it. Look at AESPA, as well. Instant success
big 3 privilege is very much a real thing and there's no denying it or denying that blackpink benefited from it. that doesn't take away from the fact that they worked incredibly hard before and after debuting and it doesn't erase ANY of their hardships. it's acknowledging that money and influence can take you places in a country like south korea. the "big 3" aren't a figment of kpop stans' imaginations, that was a nickname given by koreans themselves. those companies had a hold and lead on the kpop industry for over a decade, they started trends and had the biggest stars in the industry, and several advantages over smaller companies as well as deals with the media, brands and broadcasting companies because of that. blackpink had an amazing boost and broke records upon debut that can be partly credited by the attention they got from being the newest yg group and a junior of groups legendary groups like bigbang and 2ne1. we also rarely see groups come back from an unnecessary and long hiatus like blackpink had in 2018 and bounce back like nothing happened.
that being said, i was a huge blink right before and after their debut. blackpink started as monster rookies, they broke records, they were hungry for success, they exuded passion and the entire industry loved them and was looking forward to what they were going to do next. then that hiatus ruined everything. they probably paid off their trainee debt with those first 2 releases alone and yg realized right then and there they didn't have to put that much effort into them because they would sell regardless. in fact at this point, giving them a single comeback a year is a marketing strategy to build hype, which i don't understand. these girls spent their teenage years training to debut and were sent to the dungeon half a year later. they got their first full album 4 years after debut. yg doesn't want to put the effort into them and i can't wait until their contracts are over.
Honestly, you did put out a lot of facts but it feels unfinished.
I have my own opinions and I hate it that YG is using BP as their money maker only, without really investing in them.
1. Lisa is given uglier outfits not because she's meant to look like that, but because she can pull almost everything off. It feels like they dress other members up and go like "oh whatever let's just put anything on her"
2. Jisoo is mistreated in a sense that YG almost looks at her as if she's "just there", if you know what I mean. She's incredibly quirky with an interesting personality, and you can use it so much and she sings GREAT so you have A LOT of potential to make a cute yet mature and girly stage for her but no. She's there to look pretty, that's how I see YG using her to be honest.
3. Rose's being forced to convert her voice to YG style WAY TOO MUCH. If you watch any fancam, Rose has a beautiful body line when she dances and she looks incredibly feminine. She sings great and def should have been the first one with a solo if energy and talent were to play a role. She also has BEAUTIFUL dance movements on stage and puts a lot of effort, but like Jisoo, is often forced out of her personality by unflattering dances or notes.
4. I honestly think Jennie is mistreated the most. I don't think she has motion sickness to be honest. That is a different thing and I am a dancer with an asthma and I pull off very fast things too. I think what Jennie has is utter disappointment. She is fire sadly turned down by poor choices made by YG. If you look at it like this, she has it all: she sings and has that typical YG voice, she raps, and she dances great (when she does). Why does Jennie not dance, then? Jennie is this type of person that is very passionate, and by that I mean VERY VERY. She's the "I want that and I will work until my ass hurts so much I can't sit down". And you can tell, 6 years training and she's an all-rounder. But also, passion requires discipline- which YG did not allow her to have post debut. What she has is waiting for new songs that actually sound different and exciting and new, she needs movement and development. I think she is the overall best member in terms of eye-capturing features (both facial and vocal) and she can do all kinds of concepts more naturally. She's a perfect base for an idol, with that typical YG sound. She's the most similar to YG standard. That's why YG likes her, but likes to make money on her, because they know she can pull off the most. Yet still, they give her 7 variations of one song and her passions that are btw high mainteinance and require challenge, will obviously be down. Her solo sounded different, and I think her accomplishment made her excited so she performed better.
5. I think YG copies not only from 2ne1 but also from BigBang to bring stuff to Blackpink. To me intro of Kill This Love sounded like CL's Hello Bitches. To me almost every song of Blackpink has some great similarity to other groups. Blackpink has their own color, and yes they showed it I think in Boombayah and AIIYL, and also somewhat in Fire. By that I mean more the girly- teen vibe energy with some sexiness and cuteness as well. But other songs I just don't know what vibe they are trying to achieve. I'm pretty sure the girls themselves are confused.
Also take note from JYP and BigHit. Both have multiple groups with some minor similarities, yet TxT is NOTHING like BTS, and Itzy is nothing like Twice.

True! But another thing: we also found out Jennie had an ankle fracture and because she kept dancing on it, it kept re-fracturing and getting worse. I think that played a major role in her dance losing energy. Imagine dancing when every second hurts and is worsening the pain and injury. I’m a dancer too, I can’t imagine that kinda pain.
it honestly makes me so sad that YG is going to have another girl group. they can barely take care of BlackPink, how will they take care of two girl groups? YG is falling apart and i hope they get their crap together. and i really hope this isn’t the end for BlackPink. they deserve so much more.

YG is forming a group for modelling not for singing/performing. It's disappointing since BP gained success, fans and opportunities most groups have been coveting but YG ignored and wasted all those. I didn't get the point really.

The thing what is not talked abt is that comebacks cost lots and lots of money and this income is not always generated by album sales or concerts. So to have 3 comebacks a year they should have a complete team dedicated to them (like jyp has for twice) tbh I don't think yg is set up in that fast production way that other big entertainment companies are. And that used to be their strongest point. Their music was so authentic . His vision was that every artist makes their own music and writes their songs. After he abandoned his core values I feel like the company imploded. Their top group big bang used to be their moneymaker and they also produce their own music so they are a very cost effective group. But with bp that is not the case because he did not make them completely independent like his previous groups. So for him it is more profitable to make them models then to spend it on music videos and songs. And this is not me saying that they don't have talent in producing. BC I know they do. But he has completely shut down their talents and is not willing to invest time and energy into them producing their music. and is using them as money makers and not as the artists that they are.

Having gone to their AON concert in Japan, alot of their music was different from the way they usually sang and they tossed alot of their music show choreography as well.

I used to be a blink/Blackpink supporter but as I was new to kpop I only listened to their music. I discovered a video saying that twice Charyoung copies Blavkpink Lisa orange hair not thinking at the time, I hated twice and Started to think how blackpink are way better than them... Until I watched a few videos of Blackpink stage presence and how their looks are the same every time and nothing is ever different. So slowly I started to not like blackpink, Oh btw At this time I was watching blackpink house and I didn’t feel connected at all. Then I discovered twice from a video of Being Twice is not easy Jihyo version. I watched their videos and realized I was connecting with them. I no longer Stan blackpink or support them but I’m not a hater. I feel like being in BP fam base made me toxic but in Twice Fanbase I realized that blackpink doesn’t own any color hair or dance move. Blackpink didn’t really make me want to learn korean because of how dull they were to me listening to whistle for like the 20th time. I Really like HYLT but I Didn’t like them around the time Ice Cream Came out. Jisoo and rose hair never changes. So I don’t watch them anymore

The ankle was a MINOR injury and if you look at the comparsion to before and after performances jennie wasn't dancing hard in her upper body and her face just looked so done no sign of hurt or pain in her face was shown.
And there was one performances of boombayah where she didn't even do a part in the dance that was just her upper body but she still didn't do it and part of it was because she was in the back of the members so yeah the excuses isn't really vaild.
when yg announced jennie's solo, he only announced her solo. the whole "each member is gonna have her solo" project wasn't announced until after the fans started complaining about "favoritism". i always thought yg had said that just to sate the fans and he had never had that project in the works. it's my belief he really only thought and planned jennie's solo and tried to save face by saying hers was just the first. the more time passes and we have no other solo, the more convinced i am that he never planned them and that he doesn't even think about getting them done. it's really sad because he's lying to the fans but also probably lying to the girls aswell and they don't deserve that. hopefully things will change

The way we consume music as a whole has changed. You have western artists dropping an album and barely 5 months later their fans start asking about new music. I think we get bored easily now. A song as old as 5 months would be considered old. In kpop this is reflected in the amount of comebacks being made a year increasing. YG had been known for giving their groups fewer comebacks than the other companies on account of music quality/artistry is what he has said. As a consumer I think I should be patient but when you see all these other groups having tons of comebacks i can see why it would be frustrating.
Remember that boy groups especially must make regular comebacks in one year because after age 28, they are expected to enlist in the military

Kpop has always been different from western media, girl groups tend to do more comebacks to keep up the momentum. AOA once had 3 comebacks to get to their peak, SNSD had a ton of discography only by half of their career, red velvet has multiple mini albums and full albums, even before hiatus they had 3 comebacks in one year. Is not that the public gets boring easily, is that the market is over saturated and the demand can easily be supplied by other artist. That's what YG should be worried about, specially now that more companies are trying to duplicate BP concept.

As a Blink I'm a really glad that these modelling activities are bringing in huge money for the girls, but I also can't deny the fact that it's probably the reason why YG aren't releasing a lot of songs for them. Simply put, YG (and of course the girls) just earns a lot more (and quicker) from these endorsement deals compared to selling music because of all the production cost and royalties associated with the latter. Less than 30 songs in 6 years for a top gg is dumbfounding to anyone. 2ne1, even with a 2 year hiatus, still has double the amount of songs in their 6th year compared to BP. It's just sad.

I was a YG stand back in BIGBANG and 2NE1 era. I never really compare them to each other. I think this generation of kpop stan is really harsh on the idols, that’s why I can’t really get into kpop anymore. Just occasionally watch and listen to their music that I find good.
Like comebacks are always late in YG, I remembered when I need to wait like 2 years or so for BIGBANG comeback while my other friends who stanning other label like SME got their fill every year. I dunno if it’s a good thing or not, but I rather they are healthy and not burnt out from the schedule. Altho I also understand that as an artist, they want to create.
Imo rose is the most underrated member. She could suddenly leave BP for "personal reasons" tomorrow and it would make headlines but the group would survive. However if jisoo and especially lisa/jennie were to do the same thing for the same reasons it would literally start a riot. knetz would boycott without jisoo, people would 100% assume mistreatment no matter what she says. I-fans wouldn't listen without lisa, and would assume mistreatment. And if jennie left people would suggest the group just disband.

I think yea we’re conditioned to expect more than one comeback a year, but that’s somewhat necessary in kpop. Kpop sort of has a different way of working, it’s what makes fans so passionate and such. But even still, the one comeback a year isn’t the whole issue. It’s just that fans have No blackpink content really at all that will keep them interested. They don’t really go on variety shows or talk shows and they don’t go to award shows and they rarely go live. Fans need SOMETHING to stay invested and want to spend their money on a group but YG is giving nothing.

I don't agree with the statement that big 3 privilege doesn't exist anymore. If it didn't exist, how would you explain that Blackpink, Itzy, and Aespa had a huge fandom before their debut? Big Hit isn't part of the big 3, but we could argue that the same applies to TXT and Enhypen (although Enhypen's early success can also be related to their reality show). Just the mention of a new group by SM, JYP, YG, and Big Hit creates enough buzz to make multiple headlines and for people to root for them. Furthermore, many groups from smaller companies struggle to get noticed. This isn't meant to be a hateful comment, I only want to acknowledge the privilege idols from those companies have. They worked hard to get to where they are, but it would be unfair to say that they didn't have some advantage.

I’ve been a huge blink for 4 years now. I love my girls so much but I’m losing a grip on them.. I’m starting to lose interest. It’s not due to them at all, it’s YG. YG is wasting the worlds biggest girl group and it makes no sense as to why. They had the biggest debut of their time, they were monster rookies, broke multiple records as rookies, and they even kept building up the hype for years. They had the entire world in their hands… it’s all gone now. YG is purposely sabotaging their own group and I will never understand why. If they had more comebacks that would give YG more money. So why sabotage them? Don’t companies want money? Most people don’t know this but Yang Hyun-suk sabotaged one of his own girl groups to groom and marry one of the members. This worries me for blackpink, he’s out of the company now (I think) but he might be doing stuff from behind the scenes we don’t know about. I’m worried for the girls. Who knows the company’s motive for sabotaging them, but we know for a fact it’s happening. Just like they did with 2NE1.

I feel like most blinks are feeling this way nowadays. I miss them so much but I’m also tired of constantly waiting. I hope when their contracts end they’ll join pnation and continue as blackpink but more active and better.
Also, IMO I think Lisa gets some of the cutest outfits. Like in D4, boombayah, the show, I really like those outfits. In their documentary, the girls said they help choose their own outfits and Lisa is known to have a more unique and tomboyish taste. We shouldn’t blame the stylist, Lisa is just our unique girl lol.
Blackpink literally has so much potential. If they got more freedom, I really think they would be unstoppable.

BP's contracts will end in 2 years, and they only have 1 album 😪...such a shame. Good thing i have many groups that i stan that release more songs and do more album promotions. 🙂

i adore bp, tbh. there are a lot of hateful things said about them, and i honestly think they've just been handed the wrong cards time and again. YG ruined the idol dreams of four beautiful & talented girls & now they all seem so dispassionate as a group. like they don't even feel like a unit at all. it's so sad. i was shocked they even dropped an album recently, and it was literally called "the album"?? i mean really YG? it's just heartbreaking - it's kind of a mess & i just feel for them.

Being a Blink is probably the hardest decision I had to take and up to this day It pains me to see that people that do indeed have talent had to have this time of disappointing never ending wheel of One day you’ll be the talk of town the next you’ll only be remembered as A YG girl group. Yeah but they still have more advertising stuff then albums and singles they literally come back once a year and focus on like TV shows and advertisements unless in the future they do more music which I don't see happening. And there's nothing wrong with that.
I don't care how much time Blackpink's comeback is gonna take . I love them and I will always love them.. And there's nth wrong with being a model. Is not like they're models and not singers anymore. There are planty of musicians who are actors, models etc. So I'm happy Blackpink is doing fine in fashion industry and it doesn't matter when, comeback will come this 2020 and I know I'm gonna love it just like I love all their current songs. After all there might be the kpop musicians who come back most rearely than the others. But in the world they're not. It takes to singers like Shakira or Taylor 2 years to comeback and than they come back two or three times a year and than they have a long hiatus so whatever. Minzy was a baby back then & has grown into a more gorgeous young woman. Even male idols who start as teens and grow up look so different! So glad 2ne1 didn’t let the hate from their own company damage them in an extreme way cause idk how I’d handle something like that.
